It's not a punt. He is a very very good footballer. At one stage he was one of the highest paid players in the afl.

If its not a punt how'd he go at Brisbane? Taking him is a gamble on the impact to your playing list and overall culture not on whether he can play. His form would be starting to make it a consideration for some sides

I think his payments at Carlton and Lions were a case of paying too much for clown to create a circus.

Agree. He is doing what you would expect Fevola to do at this level and more. With Caxey dominating midfield play he should be monstering VFL defenders. Not enough for my liking. And he takes the place an MFC listed player who could play forward.

He is doing the job similar to what Podsiardly did at clubs Werribee & Geelong before being placed on GFC rookie list and that is kicking goals.I am sure KC believes he is worth a punt, after getting fit and serious about his current footy he is averaging 6 goals a game over the last 5 weeks. Consistent and good- more than I can say for any MFC listed forward player.

KC - thanks again for your commentary.

Questions:

Cook in the 2s - how did he go?

McNamara - lots of possessions as a mid - is he due for a couple of games in the red 'n blue this season?

Fitzpatrick - not a lot of possessions but does he look the goods?

Star is going a bit far.

We needed a key forward. He is only 191cm tall. If we had picked up Darling we wouldn't have picked up Howe who is a similar size. We have a fair few players who can play third tall.

Stats Darling vs Howe

Those stats certainly surprized me. I am very happy to have Cook and Howe and look forward to both boys playing next year, after another pre season and some more gym work.

MMMMM who else got the chop for being to slow, let me think, was it Greg Williams???? yeah and he was a dud!!

Don't forget Scott Thompson premiership player and who had 50+ possies for the Crows today.

Forget all the subjective b..sh.t ( he's slow, he's this, he's that) about these kids, the only way you can find out if they can play or not is to see him in action in the big time. We are prepared give some timid types 60 games+ without any great evidence they can play. Last week we also had two supposedly senior players who looked as if they were terrified.

Tommy Mac just keeps on performing which is exactly what the club would be hoping for.27 possies isn't a bad afternoon. Good luck to him, he's a bit of rough nugget who looks like a sheepdog but he approaches the contest in the correct manner.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
