And they were in the top 4 when he went there. He was a very fit 33 year old who has played 1 good season and got them them no closer, and has been a injury riddled 34 year old who has decided to give it away.

Have to ask ourselves what the benefits would be opposed to the risks.

And I don't think the potential benefits outweigh the risks.

I also think it will be a short term experiment that will leave us no closer to a flag.

We all or many of us and I think you, yourself, believed that at the start of this year we would be looking at winning a flag, say in the time area of 2014 or so.If that is correct,Fevola would have 3 good years to win as a flag along with the development of our young talls.Cook cannot even get a game at Casey firsts at the moment and is lucky to get a game in the seconds playing at CHF.Therefore Fevola is not taking over the development of him as a forward and earlier this year Fevola played in a forward pocket with Cook at FF.The potential of gaining Fevola has so much upside it isn't funny to our short and long term future. The next step in our development is what we all want and that is a winning feeling. And hopefully in the next few years a premiership cup.And Furthermore, Fevola is the slimmest he has been in years and is not suffering from the leg injuries he has for the last year or so at Brisbane.Get him mentally up by being on our MFC list and we are up and away.Bring it on,I say..

I think that has been the highlight....he has not embarrassed hiomself further. he has hardly been a success. He kicks goals when our midfield dominates in downhill skiing conditions. He is still fat and overweight and struggles with the pace at VFL level.

I cant wait till he explodes.....again.

2014 would have been optimistic and I dont see how Fevola will last the stretch in the AFL. He is still finding the pace in the VFL.

Cook's position could well be a sign of the development impact of Fevola. If Cook was kicking goals in his first year, there would be comment that geez hasnt Fev been good for him.

And Fevola is the slimmest he has been....in weeks. Honestly he is as fat as a bear out of winter and cannot run out the pressure of a VFL game. He has not lost the puppy fat he had at the start of the year and still needs to drop 8 to 10 kgs just to revisit his AFL playing weight.

Having him forward gave then the tall to kick to, to help them alter they're faulty game structure, and he straiten them up. This will help them going forward as they're young tall forwards come into the team in future. They are now well into reorganising that team with young kids making their way into the side.

So he did help them after Johnston finished before they wanted.

Now they will head down the taller type team style, IMO.

A Blues supporter called in and asked about the possibility of....low and behold you guessed it, Carlton re-drafting Fev

After he was summarily dismissed, the talk then came around to....well....where is Fev at? What if?

Westy was then asked (given the connection) about the possibility of Fev returning to the game generally.

West said it was initially thought (early in the season) he was taking up someone else's space by being played in a key forward role. However, the view has changed somewhat, and it was now felt that things had gone better than the Demons expected. Fev was actually contributing and giving assistance to the other forwards there, both on and off the field, and a few injuries to some of the initial likely forwards had not seem them being able to press for that position as much as the Demons would have liked anyway.

He now believes Fev is being wasted somewhat, as he still has all his attributes. He also said that he might be worth looking at for someone (didn't say us, but then Westy's out of contract so he doesn't know where he's at at the MFC either atm) provided he "bought in" to the forward press and all that it entails.

I struggle to think of one convincing argument to bring Fev to MFC. I could almost guarantee you that if a Melbourne official were reading this thread, they would've fallen off their chair laughing at the end of the first page.

Recruiting drafting anyone is a punt! There is no guarantees in it, just like crossing a city road.

Drafting Scully is a punt. He may leave.

Drafting/not, Dustin Martin was a punt, he may be a trouble. He has tatts!

Drafting Trengove is a punt, he may go 'Home'.

Drafting Morton was a punt, he may not be good enough.

Drafting Jack Watts was a punt, he may not be tough enough.

I voted no without giving the idea too much time because I believe that, philosophically, he doesn't fit into the mould of the group that the club's developing at this point in time. It's hard for some people to accept this especially in light of what the club's going through at the moment. In the face of the political upheaval, the bad media and the frustration of heavy defeats it's easy to claim someone like Fevola as a quick fix to our current woes but it would only be a band aid. The truth is that we need to continue along our current path because it's our best chance of bearing fruit in the medium to long term.

As far as Fev himself is concerned, I reckon he's been fantastic for Casey and that includes the Melbourne players around him who would be learning a few things from an experienced forward who was once elite level. You notice the little things with Fev like the way he spoiled a Hamish McIntosh attempt to mark from in front of him. Fev put him out of a contest (sort of legally) with his body and the result was a goal to a teammate a few seconds later. I just hope that Max Gawn, Jack Fitzpatrick, Tom McDonald and (in the crowd) Lucas Cook were all watching.

But thats just it Jack. We don't want a Quick - FIX. We want a bandAid for 2 years. to do precisely what you just stated he's doing now & this year @ Casey.

The worst thing we could do is recruit a Coleman medalist. We don't want or need our team to become Reliant,,, on a aging tall forward, but what we need is one who'll guide our Young forwards, and ease the scoreboard pressure.

And one who'll absorb some of the oppositions defensive focus.

i voted NO. Fev won't be around when we need a 60 - 70 goal a season forward. Howe, Watts, Cook and Jurrah will be, put time and effort into these blokes and we will be far better off in the long term

In 2012 a fit and focused Fev in our forward line would demand a high quality defender, making life easier for Watts, Green, Jurrah etc... As well as being able to kick a few directly. And when Cook, Fitzpatrick, and other up and coming forwards mature they can fight for a spot like players in quality teams do...

I can't believe we think Juice and Campbell are better options to help us win games of footy than Fev. If Fev can learn and implement the forward press and stay focused he would be a serious asset that we could acquire cheap (pick wise).

Raise the bar, and stop treating the playing group like pre-schoolers.

Yep, good point.

But... Aker always prepared well for games and was always fit (albeit a bit slow by the end of his career). He was a manic motor-mouth - pretty hard to stop. I think Fev could be kept on the straight and narrow with the right motivation given.
