Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Not sure who the sponsor is, but can confirm that the position on the back of the jumper for a sponsor logo has been sold for $1.9m. Still searching for a sponsor for the front of the jumper. Gives the club around $1.2m more a year to spend on FD etc.

Wow! that's a lot of cash.

Maybe those better placed to explain might do so.

Whywould we necessarily miss out at all. There are two spots for major exposure.. the fornt and across the back. Both have excellent media potential.. Ask either of Hankook and Kapserky.

What Im getting at is there are twos pots open.. One apparently a done deal..stil lleaves the other.

Must be missing something here

My information is that Kaspersky will stay on, albeit in a diminished capacity. They have been supporting the Digital Demons programs etc. and are likely to extend their support of these initiatives beyond 2011.

Thats good news.. Still means one major spot open ?

Yes, the front of the jumper.

If we get $1.9mil per year for the back, when we were previously receiving $700K, we are now $1.2mil better off per year. For the back.

Reportedly, the front was also worth $700K, so using the same logic, we could potentially receive $1.9mil for the front also.

Leaving us up by $2.4mil per year.

Football department spending could creep up to near the big clubs, with that sort of cash injection.

It will be very interesting to see.

With Melbournes seeming inability to evade the media ( invariably for all the wrong reasons ) the sponsors have had a very very good amount of exposure. Bang for buck it would have to rate well. Whomever gets on board now for the ride of the next 3-5 years will get even more.

The Dees make for a good billboard..:) as to a footy team .........

Great news for the back of the jumper. If the BOM missed the back of the jumper deal why wouldn't we offer them the front of the jumper? To me I reckon the front of the jumper gets more exposure.

In regards to an announcement you might find we can't until current contracts expire.

like a couple of people I also heard Energy Watch will be a sponser in 2012.

I would sure hope it isnt, and highly doubt Energy Watch will be our sponsor next year.

For those of you that have seen their ads where an Indian salesperson is doorknocking trying to offer cheaper electricity prices to a hapless bloke, only to be intercepted by a scantily clad 'energy referee', well those ads have been pulled due to justified complaints that the ads invoke racial stereotyping.

To make matters worse for 'Energy Watch', the proverbial will most likely hit the fan in the ensuing months, as a litany of complaints have lead consumer groups to uncover that this company is nothing but a front for AGL. Expect Consumer Affairs to come a knockin sometime soon.

But their money's still green right?

Also hoping Energy Watch aren't on board - pretty sure places like this would just work as sales channels for whichever power company wants to pay them the most commission per sale. That referee advertisement really made me cringe though, thank god it's gone!

You know, there's probably quite a few people out there thinking perhaps Schwabby was talking up this 'massive sponsorship deal' to stop people questioning his own position at the club. I'll be very happy when the deal is made public.

At the pre-match function on Sunday, Schwab was trumpeting it to the room as a done deal.

$1.9mil for the back of the jumper.

We are still in negotiations with other parties for the front of the jumper.

Hankook and Kaspersky, CS said, were priced out of the market.

Although, I think we all seem to know now that Hankook had other issues with their deal... or maybe they objected to the exponential price hike for the same services, and were looking to save face by allaying blame on the club.

The club is receiving $5mil over 3 years currently. $0.7 for the front & $1 mil for the back roughly. Skews your logic a little bit, but the club looks like it will double the current deals in place.

According to Schwab himself, pretty sure the figures quoted were ~$700K for the back, and we were getting around ~$1.4-$1.5mil per year.

Ok, well I see that as probably just rounding up to $5mil, as tends to happen, but if it is the case, then it's still only $1.6-$1.7mil total per year.

~$700K for one deal, then max ~$1mil for the other, or ~850K for each (certain I've heard one quoted as ~$700K-$750K).

I would have assumed the back of the jumper was cheaper than the front.

Either way, this is all supposition, and a sizeable increase of $1mil+ in sponsorship per year is impressive nonetheless.

Yeh I agree, from memory I recall kaspersky paying more in sponsorship than Hankook at the time. Pretty sure that Hankook is paying 700k per year.

Is anyone else concerned that there has been no official announcement? It's been quite some time since the sponsorship was mooted. I'd hate to think all this conjecture is for naught.

Might be legal reasons, don't want to announce a new sponsor til the end of the year as it conflicts with the current jumper. Wouldn't be surprised if its put off until the new jumper is announced tbh

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
