When Melbourne played Carlton in the infamous 'Kreuzer Cup' game of 2007, the No. 1 draft pick of 2005, Marc Murphy, was in the Carlton team that lost to Melbourne by 31 points. He was at the end of his second season, had played his 31st game and he averaged 17.9 possessions for the season. Murphy has now played 121 games and averages nearly 30 possessions a game. He killed us last week (along with Lord Voldemort).

When you say that you haven't seen much to 'get gooey over' with Scully, we need to look at him in the time frame we might retrospectively apply to Murphy. Scully has played 27 games after two seasons and averages 22 possessions in the games he's played, a better record than Murphy so far.

If we could project forward to when he's played over100 games, based on what Murphy has developed into, any suggestion Scully is not worth keeping is very dangerous.

Got to take Tommy on face value.. Us as supporters should be behind him until we know what his plans are.. Also scully is in his 2nd year.. Once his body has a few years in the gym and gets stronger he will be a gun!!

I stress WAS - his last two seasons have seen him eradicate the unjustified soft tag that he carried. I say unjustified to the extent that he wasnt hard at the contest in any way shape or form but was a young kid built like a twig. Five seasons of football and look what he is now.

I certainly recall his debut against us at Etihad, he got put on his backside by Melbourne players left right and centre yet got up every time aand finished BOG (if not close to)

Reverse the roles. Look at this from a GWS perspective. If they have initially offered TS 5 million over 5 years they must be surely rethinking that initial offer. If it's true that TS was made an offer in late 2010 his subsequent form and of course injuries would severely down grade the offer. It is after all just an offer and is not contractually binding. If i were a GWS supporter, ( do they actually exist?) iI would be furious on the team wasting 5 million on an injured 20 year old with 30 games of experience. Which ever way you look at it doesn't make any sense.

I dunno.. he picked up the AFLPA first year award.. that would eclipse Scully to date. He certainly damaged the scoreboard more in those earlier years as comparison.

I am not criticizing him at all ( as I explained in the post) but he certainly gathered a reputation of shirking a few and not going in where angels fear to tread in his very early days. He was very slight and very new. Look at him now.

I guess the take home message is - look what two or three preseasons and 50 plus games can do to the body and mind. Would call him anything but soft now.

Daisy Thomas was also a show pony fringe dweller in his first couple of season and is now kamikaze ridiculous at the ball.

Tom tackles more than Murphy did, his courage is faultless, his hardness unquestionable.

The Scully saga is over for me fellers, I know I cant prove anything on this forum, But like most of you, I went through the going balistic stage, then have been hoping that he might stay stage, but I've had it put to me recently by someone who would know that not only is tom going, he's long, long gone. Now it seems so obvious why he has never shown one bit of emotion whilst singing the club song, even after the few good wins we've had this year. At the time I didn't think the cats got enough for Ablett, and unfortunately we probably won't get enough for Tom. You can shout me down about not naming names ect ect, but I'm just giving you the heads up because I read the forum nearly everyday, and I know how dedicated most of you blokes are. Remember, leaks are human nature, apparently those in the know think it's common knowlegde anyway!
