Sean Wight has passed away after a short battle with lung cancer.

An amazing athlete that battled his heart out against the great full forwards of the 80's and 90's Lockett, Dunstall, Ablett

A sad day for Sean's family, the MFC and its supporters.

FORMER DEMON SEAN WIGHT DIES

VALE SEAN WIGHT

What can you say?

Just really sad, so very unfair and a reminder of how indiscriminate this disease can be.

Loved ya work Wighty!

A terrific clubman who gave his all every time he pulled on the gernsey.

Condolences to the family. R.I.P Sean.

My favourite player as a teenager.

I had 27 on the back of my Melbourne jumper. I played amateur footy with the number 27 on my back as a young bloke.

Thank you Sean Wight for the great memories. A courageous and inspiring footballer.

RIP Sean.

:(

Player who put his body on the line, selfless player who played through injury later on in his career, had an enormous leap on him and a spoil that would send the Sherrin 30-40 metres into the Members from the back pocket. But most of all had a profound impact in the backline along with Brett Lovett, Alan Johnson and Danny Hughes. Was even put up forward on occassions. Represented the club with distinction. Even troubled Ablett Snr on occassions. Loved him as a player growing up. Always breathed down the neck of his opposition.

Will be sorely missed by the club.

I'm confident the no.27 will have a solid game tomorrow night. For Sean Wight.

Shattered, he was a real favourite of mine, and my son too.

Another champion taken too early.

I am really devastated and totally loved his style. He was a pleasure to watch.

Met him a few times and he was a top fella.

Best wishes to all his family and close ones.

There just might be a little extra oomph in the boys this week.

RIP Sean, you were an out and out champion for what you achieved.

Being in my early 30's I grew up watching the Dees with Sean Wight as our full back during what was a successful period for the club.

I always hear about Melbourne greats passing however, I feel somewhat detached as I never witnessed their deeds on the football field. Troy Broadbridge aside, Sean is sadly the first player to pass who was part of a team in which I had a connection with.

It's quite a shock and an emotional time. We have a great deal of fondness and appreciation for players who wear the red and blue.

RIP Sean Wight.

RIP Sean Wight............a great player, and someone I loved watching play for the Dees as a kid growing up.

A sad day for his family, friends, the MFC and supporters.

I had the privilege of meeting Sean on a number of occasions. He was a gentle guy and passionate about his footy and the MFC. When he played, he gave everything he had within him.

RIP Seany mate and may the boys do you proud tomorrow night.

A very sad day for the club. I reckon Jimmy will be taking this pretty hard. Sympathies to his friends and family. On the herald sun website they have a guestbook online where you can post messages. Not sure if this will be passed on to the club or not.

Interesting to watch the footy show to see what Garry Lyon has to say. Im sure before they do our game he will do a tribute.

I remember when he came out to kmart for an appearance near my place and he arrived late and in his beautiful accent said I didnt realise it was this far out. He signed my mel ruckle mascot which sits proudly on my shelf.

A man who tried to do the right things by not smoking or drinking and gets hit by this terrible cancer. But at least he is free of pain now.

I reckon a one minute silence needs to be done for tomorrow night and I hope the players go out with an extra lift. I reckon Jimmy, Todd and Connols will talk abot Sean to the players. I reckon Rivers will have a little help tomorrow night and im sure he will wear the number 27 jumper with pride and honour.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
