Why would Scully want to go to what is effectively the AFL's own private team which may well take years to get respectability. Even with heaps of draft picks there is no certainty gws will gain traction.

I read some where Tom is quite frugal.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I think Trengove can be taken next year, they have a two year period to take players, and he signed for three years when drafted. I'd love to keep both, but if I had to choose one it would be Trengove.

I can't see why any of these blokes would want to go, the Demons are starting out on a new era that will bring a lot of success, I reckon they will stay except Scully who I think has already signed with someone else.

Care to say those words to Cam Schwabb's face???

Easy to say via a keyboard. That above post really sucks mate.....Poor Form.

I thought it was a reasonable post, not disrespectful to anyone.

The Post was basically calling CS a liar as well as TS....unnecessary muckraking IMO.

I disagree. The post was saying that CS may have been subtlety reminding Scully that we want honesty from our players during contract negotiations. He may have been reading more into it than was there, but hardly muckraking.

Don't underestimate his last Quarter disposals...while everybody around him was cramping, Tom kept running hard.

Without his last Q, Richmond might have got us...Tom's kicking will improve i have no doubt.

His Gut Running and tank are well on track to being elite.

Totally agree, Tom Scully will be an elite player in Aussie Rules, it's not his kicking skills that got him all this media attention.

By the way, hang on , who do we play next week?

Western Bulldogs... Heard the Western Bulldogs are into Scully BIG TIME!!!

Rumour, Libba and Wallis for Scully is what they're putting together!!!! I heard it from a Bulldogs person's dog's trainer, and also from Scully's father's second cousin's wife's sister.

Would make sense, he'd be the perfect replacement for an aging Daniel Cross...

This was also discussed on 3AW yesterday between Matthews, Cometti and co...

They were basically saying that with Ablett the general public could justify the move in their own minds given what he had given the club already and acheived personally.

Whereas they were saying by the way Melb is playing this out, if Scully was to leave he would need to consider that the general public and football world wont be forgiving.

Based on the fact he has only just started his journey in the AFL, he hasn't contributed much or achieved much for himself or the club yet so he will be seen as going for the money and having not been honest with the club which supported him all the way...

Agree footynut.

If TS goes, it will reflect poorly on him and Melbourne will come out of this the better as we would hav estood by the kid while he made a really hard decision.

At and the of the day, this is all the MFC can do to. They should show him unconditional support and put an offer on the table. They should also emphasise other reasons why they believe he should remain a Demon. This is by far the best approach to this situation.

Basically summed up what the sane people on this thread have been saying. Any suggestions that Tom has signed elsewhere, is tantamount to an accusation that he is lying.

Listen.

Stated that there is much going on behind the scenes that the public and media aren't aware of.

Thank-you Swabby. In you we trust, I have always had 100% faith in Tom, you and all around our club. What ever the outcome that will never change for me. Sounds like its getting more positive by the day. Wish a few more around here would shared that faith.

my tip is he has been advised by his management to hold out to the end of the year to get the best possible deal.

with all this GWS talk his management would be rubbing their hands together because they know it will be driving up his price.

I think you are spot on....

Listen.

Personally, I would be more concerned about the Tigers. Or the possibility the GWS could doing a deal with the Tigers.

You cant seriously suggest if all else fails we would let a number 1 draft pick walk for nothing!!!!

You can run but you cant hide forever. Someday we just have to face the facts.

Just showed the Schwab interview on The Sunday Footy Show. The panel discussed it for a while, and Damian Barrett, Dermie, and Shane Crawford all seem to think he will stay. Apparently Shane has a bit to do with Tom, so his opinion is probably the most important out of the lot of them. Still, they are only opinions which every man and his dog seem to have!

The difference between Ablett and Tom is that Geelong demanded an answer from Ablett and Ablett and Thompson weren't talking to each other. Tom on the other hand gets on very well with Dean, the Club has not demanded an answer but publicly has been supporting him in his decision to wait. Entirely different scenarios so the link with the Ablett situation is dubious. Therefore just because he hasn't stated that he will stay doesn't mean that he will go.

I attended the GWS 'Captain's Club' function at the Swans v Pies game last night. Spoke to Sheedy, Dipper and the GWS CEO.

Essentially, it seems they think they have Scully. He has not 'signed' anything, but he 'committed' to GWS last October.

Reading between the lines, it is probable that, whilst he said he's 'committed' to the GWS, he's probably now having second thoughts. Nonetheless, GWS appears confident.

I felt like throwing haymakers at everyone wearing orange and grey hats last night, Bloody p1ssed off - this is unfair. Should have taken Trengove at 1, Martin at 2.

This is congruent with the rumour he signed a HoA but is having second thoughts. Surely if the boy changes he mind and wants to stay, then he will stay.

And while it will suck if we do lose Tom, I don't want the MFC to overpay him just to keep him here at the expense of our other young stars like Watts, Trengove, McKenzie, Gysberts and so forth. We have a fantastic young list and the team is more important then one individual

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
