how dare Matthew Lloyd say this about how Dean Bailey celebrated. it was a fantastic win by all the boys and Dean had every right to celebrate the way he did. Matthew Lloyd give yourself a favour and shut up.

He sounded like he was going to cry last night after the game.....

The funniest thing was they were talking about the scum game plan and Dermie said...Bomber has introduced the geelong game plan....blah blah blah..and velvetboy answered him also stating that bombers game plan was...blah blah blah....

I guess he inadvertently revealed to the world what they already knew......

The celebrations were probably a bit over the top, but it didn't seem like it at the time. For me, it was by far the most satisfying and enjoyable victory we've had in some time. Loved every minute of it.

Definitely not over the top

I watched in the mcc members

for two quarters i had to listen to smug Essendon supporters bagging Melbourne

If people thought the players over celebrated then they should have seen the members it went wild!!

Nothing better than watching Essendon supporters leaving early after once again turning on their players

The members were very vocal in the denigration of those leaving

It was great and this was a very very important moment in the MFCs future and was IMO celebrated appropriately

They celebrated too hard? What a load of crap. These past few weeks they have been roundly criticised for their lack of ticker.

They had the week from hell in the media. Then, on top of it, their favourite Son, Jimmy, goes in for another round of gruelling surgery (but only after a special pep talk to the team).

They then come out on Friday night footy, on the big National stage, and play with real passion. It's an arm wrestle for the first half. They then get a good lead in the 3rd quarter. They are then seriously challenged at the start of the 4th quarter. They answer the challenge, and end the match full of running, for a truly gutsy win.

The emotion after the game was that of a group of men who had answered their critics in a most emphatic way.

I was particularly thrilled to see the way Dean Bailey, Green, Beamer and Jack Watts acted. This was something special, and they had every right to act the way they did. Bailey, Beamer & Watts have all been under the pump BIG time, and Beamer hit a nasty speed bump earlier in the year, and has been desperate to redeem himself. If they hadn't acted the way they did post-match, I frankly would have been far more disturbed. Their actions were appropriate, and heart-warming!

If some tools in the commentary box took exception to it, tough!

Now, they have to carry the same passion into the Queen's Birthday clash. A big victory there, and another, similar post match celebration would REALLY warm the heart of this long-suffering, old Dees supporter!

Go Dees!!

Totally agree mate. I was also in the members. It was a proud moment and there was an awesome noise supporting the lads. It was also a bit of screw you Essendung, you all thought you were gunna whip us and you sure don't like the shoe on the other foot. I loved it. Why not celebrate?

Maybe the DIVE BOMBER should just go and get stuffed - what a load of sour grapes from a [censored] of the highest order.

I though of him a couple of times at the game when some of his beloved Bombers took dives and did not get a free.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
