Just confused and angry about our so called gameplan after last night's performance. Going to every game just makes me think it wouldn't matter if we were at full strength last night the result would have been the same. I just have a few questions.

1:What is the gameplan when it comes to our forward line.

2:Is it wrong to just have Jurrah play out of the forward 50? Too many time he just looked lost in the middle of the ground.

3:Do all the players understand the gameplan? Any time we had a quick burst out of the backline the players would look up and see no leading forward and be forced to do go sideways then backwards then make a simple error and put their own team mate under pressure.

4:Have Matt Warnock and Juice Newton been tested for illegal drugs? It's the only way to explain how they have played this year.

Point 4 if they are on something, they are certainly not performance enhancing ones!!!

I'll try and find a gameplan on ebay if we all want to throw our money together. Pagan's Paddock gameplan is currently bidding at $5. Maybe that will do for this year.

For the first 10 minutes last night the gameplan looked like ‘kick it to Neitz’ - it was 2003 all over again.

David King on 3AW said it well - we need to decide on a gameplan and stick to it.

last night was really all about:

fingerdike.jpg

Bailey had obviously capitulated before the first bounce and teh insrtuction was to defend a blowout.

In a sense he accomplished this but when a team wearing my colours starts this sh!t I wont bother going.

Its part of the mental weakness of our side that we didnt really try to win the game. You could see it written all over the 4 qtrs.

just rubbish

Couldn't agree more. If watts is going to live up to the hype it won't be from floating around in the backline. As soon as i saw Jack down back by himself I had to grab a beer because the white flag was already raised.

Actually Ive no problem with where Watts roams. At least it gets him into the game.. Its very Reiwoldt in that mannner. The problems was we were under-represented back in the forward arc..

If the plan was to let Jack run around rthe selectors ought to have made sure someone else was up the sharp end. and/or..Bailey should have thought it through a bit more. I suppose he did though.. he accomplished his goal..We lost magnificently !!

Your right. My problem with the watts decision was they took a forward out and time after time we didn't have any target up forward. Maybe I'm too old school when I think I would love to see how watts would go one on one playing deep in the forward line. I know he has great stamina and play all over the ground but if Jurrah is going to play up the ground (Which makes no sense to me) then keep watts one out in the forward line.

The game plan is to handball around the wings. That will win games (not).

Does anyone remember the Adelaide game like me? That we kicked the bloody ball straight down the middle? And smashed our opposition team by 96 points? What's wrong with that plan?

I know I know, just practicing for a stand up routine! Honestly, sometimes it was like keystone cops - a player takes a hardish mark, and instead of steadying and kicking the ball on, he looks for the teammate most underpressure and handballs to him. Cue the Benny Hill music!

I am a bit funny you know - I think if a game is called FOOTBALL that at some stage the ball should make contact with the foot and not the hand. But that's just me! :)

This game really isnt as complicated as some pundits would have us belive. Yes the nuances change from time to time but the essences dont.

Back to basics Melbounre... play with conviction.....you know... like you actually believe in yourselves.. Forget what anyone esle say...even teh coaches, if you beleive you can play, then do so.

You can have a go at Bailey and his game plan all you want, and maybe rightly so.

But watching the Suns tonight there really playing to win, desperate to win the ball, getting down hard and low head over the ball stuff. Their playing with passion desperate to get that pill and help one another.

I just want to see this!!

Lumping Warnock in with Juice is a bit harsh. I'm usually pretty positive and supportive of all the players but Newton is one guy that really gets me - If he's not standing up perfectly straight he looks a very ordinary footballer.

FWIW the game last night reminded me of one of the twilight games of Neil Daniher's career at Port Adelaide when we went in to the game ( at that time with a mature list and no expectation of significant improvement in the forseeable future) but we knew before the battle that the troops simply weren't up to the task.

So we played to ameliorate the size of the loss.

As a strategy it was somewhat successful - there will likely be worse defeats this round.

Not much joy to be shared around however.

Kicking out from the City end. The players know it's going to be a long kick to a contest on the southern flank regardless of free men elsewhere. Every Dees supporter knows the same. Do the coaches think the blues can't afford a video? Compare and contrast with the ease the blues came out with shorter kicks to leading targets.

This is exactly the question i had running through my head on Friday night. What is the game plan? Watching the game it looked like the players were going along the boundary lines, all well and good but when we win the ball why is it that there are 4-5 opposition players to our two (if we're lucky)? Doesn't that mean that we should have free numbers in the middle of the the ground?

At the moment i don't think we can judge Baily on his game plan because the players simply aren't playing to it (whatever it is!). However motivating the players to do what you want is something we can judge him on, which currently is not so good. There is also a mitigating circumstance of half the team being spuds.

Whiles we're on game plans: FFS can we PLEASE mix it up when doing kick ins? Every bloody time it's "kick for the boundary line", and i don't even blame the player kicking out, NO ONE is giving him an option. We are the worst side in the comp for kick ins at the moment.

Listening to MMM, Garry Lyon reckoned he saw the semblance of a forward press in the start of the last quarter. (I think it was).

When they asked Frawley about it after the game he said that they have been working on a forward press since preseason and that

was the gameplan - the players just have been very inept at implementing it in the first 10 rounds.

Garry keeps on also trying to get Bails to play Frawley on the forward line as we don't have any forward with enough

physical presence just to bring the ball to the ground let alone make themselves a viable target. This is worth looking at.

But the whole teams needs to learn to scratch and scrag their way into the contest when things are not going there way.

That is the strange part. When we win, it has always been through the middle. This playing around the boundary line is stupid. It must be the coaches request because we still go to the same spot on kickouts even when we are hopelessly outnumbered.

Love to know what our game plan is!

This has to be one of THE funniest posts i've read on here. unfortunately at the expense of our Club.....again.

Sadly we've not only become a laughing stock with many opposition supporters, but amongst our own now. Not a new thing though. I recall plenty of laughs in our regular supporter group (including Bro) in the 70's/80,s and in particular 1996/97. If anyone recalls some of the performances in 96/97 believe me when i say, they made some of the recent losses look impressive!

Have to laugh though or we'll all go insane eh.

Belze some of your work up there, Especially the pics of the headless chook & finger in dyke...absolute GOLD mate!

All we need now is for Mark "Jacko" Jackson and Crackers Keenan to make a comeback!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
