Had a decent first half without dominating. Start of the 3rd he's had 5 or 6 touches in 5 min with a handful of tackles. Oakleigh kicked the first 2 of this qtr and Jack has been involved in both goals. I'm loving this

A mate of mine is heavily involved at Oakleigh, and says Viney will be more than an adeqeute replacement for Scully, loves getting in and getting the hard ball and sharing with his teammates. Hardest player he has seen, to a point where he is scary.

100% confident he will tear the competition apart when he starts playin for the Dee's.

Chargers win by a couple of goals, hopefully the TAC Cup GF is on Fox like last year. Solid game by JV, killed the 3rd qtr. His tackling, pressure & his ability to win the ball in close are his strengths. Also looks dangerous when he goes forward.

In the best for gippsland is josh scott who is bottom age and really improving . About 6 foot 2 super athletic and still growing . One to watch next year . Also happens to play A grade cricket in my team but i fear we may lose him very soon....

Please don't take this the wrong but people that are saying he's our replacement for Scully or comparing him with Marc Murphy need to calm down a bit. I think we're all getting caught up In the romance of getting a decent father son to the club. I've seen JV play a number of times just like I saw Scully play TAC cup a number of times and Scully stood out far more than what JV does at the same age, same with Murphy. JV Is as tough as nails and shows a lot of promise and If It wasn't for father son would more than likely be a first round pick but no way he would be taken with the number 1 pick In next years draft. I do like the kid I just don't want people building him up like he's going to come In and be the greatest thing ever.

I was at a wedding over the weekend and Bohdan Babijczuk was there. Naturally I spent the night harassing the poor bloke about all things Demons, and in particular I asked his opinion of Jack Viney. He said he will be a great player but he is in the process of changing the way he runs. Apparently his running style was leading to severe groin and other soft tissue related injuries. Bohdan told me that Todd specifically asked him to watch Jack in his games this year and his first comment was, "he will never last in AFL football unless he works very hard on changing his running style". I've never heard of this before but apparently it is very common in young players.

Anyway, he went on to explain that his performances may be up and down this year and not as good as we expected from his early assessments. But its great news to hear that they identified this early because the Demons are recruiting him regardless of his Vic Metro form as they know that he is working on this.

PS: I could start a new thread titled "my hazy recollections from annoying the hell out of Bohdan Babijczuk on Saturday night".

I am really surprised that Bohdan, with his track & field background, has made an issue of someone's running style. Did you ask him abut anyone else in the team? (I'm not having a go at you - just realised I might come across that way - sorry). If I were at the MFC with a track & field background, I'd be pushing the old "got to fix his running" chestnut as well.

I would imagine - Cale Morton (just corrected a typo that left the 'T' out - funny actually) - only gets knee lift to appropriate levels when being chased by a large opponent.

I can asure you I am not.Scully was on my profile as one of my favourite players.However I watch a lot of Under age football and feel that Scully was a very good footballer. But I definately think Viney is better. He still qualifies as an under 18 next year. He was the Australian Under 16 captain whom has just come on even further. He has mixed it very well with the Under 18's this year continuosly in the best for chargers. I feel he is definately more hard nosed than Scully and also a better kick. He may not get 40 odd disposals a game but what he does and is prepared to do for the team is almighty.
