Hey y'all, long time lurker, first time poster, 48 year old sufferer!

Can anyone give me any (rational) hope that we may win one of our next 6 games?

Our opponents: Saints, Blues, Bombers, Pies, Dockers, Tigers.

Maybe a spirited showing v Pies?

Dockers at the G? Perhaps.

I'm a drowning man clutching at straws here.

It could be a long 6 weeks.

Just stick by Jimmy....it's going to be a long road.

Our list hasn't been cleaned out yet.

Agree mate, still a bit of deadwood lying around, Lynden Dumb, Bate for starters, as said before youngsters are pretty good, show a bit of promise, 23 and older are really where the problem lies.

Mate, would luv us to pinch one, but gotta be honest, cant see us winning any of those six, especially given the injury list. Here I was thinking we were starting to bat a bit deeper but we still lack a bit of cattle.

We will lose next week.

After that, the next five are at the 'G, where we always play better. Carlton is over-rated and thus beatable, we play well against Essendon but they're a better side this year, not a chance against Collingwood, more than a chance against Freo and Richmond.

If over the next few weeks we get some of Scully, McKenzie, Trengove, Bail and Jamar back that will help too, as we'll be able to cut players like Dunn, Bennell, Jetta and Newton who are not best 22 material. If we can also get back to putting in a half-decent effort and extracting some life from our senior players, we are a chance to win three of them (Carlton, Fremantle and Richmond).

It goes without saying that if we don't put the effort in the results won't come.

It's our toughest stretch all year. The next 6 games determine whether or not we will be playing finals.

And we won't be.

Know how you feel....Ive had that drowning feeling a lot in the last 2 weeks.....

St. Kilda will be absolutely licking their lips at the thought that we are going to resurrect their season....10 goal loss easy. We are rubbish, and I soooo wish it wasn't so.

We do bat alot deeper but we are missing 5 of our best 22 (Jamar, Grimes, Trengove, Scully, McKenzie) and we have have 5 of our next best 10 out of form (Green, Davey, Frawley, Jurrah and Morton) are disgustingly out of form. In a team of 22 if half are out or poor, you're simply not going to win games regardless of depth. Australian cricket team anyone?

Frustrating thing is that we have a couple of Friday night matches coming up, matches that are great to showcase your talent to the AFL. Not looking good.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
