Wow we're in a maaaaaaajor crisis! GEE WHIZZ!!

OUT: Grimes, Trengove, Jamar... OUCH!!!! Check out them "outs"!!

IN: Martin, Evans (why not?? Killing it in VFL), Rivers (50/50 as reported)/MacDonald (if Rivers not fit)

OUT: Jamar (inj.), Trengove (susp.), Grimes (inj.)

IN: Martin, Newton, Jetta

Martin is the obvious replacement for Jamar and Newton as his chop-out. We won't win many hitouts so we will need Jetta and Bartram's tackling pressure around stoppages if we are to stand a chance at all.

sorry, but no, tackling pressure just got sidelined by the bloody tribunal

Jamar is a champ and we are better having him in the side, but as long as Martin can come in create a contest and win his fair share, we should go ok, after all its when it hit the ground we did the real damage and Moloney will be as hungry as ever, there are more brownlow votes on offer.

With the forced changes:

In: Martin, MacDonald, Morton/Evans

Out: Jamar (inj.), Grimes (inj.), Trengove (susp.)

Martin has to play first ruck, we have no one else with Spencer out injured, Gawn nowhere near it, Fitzpatrick not good enough, and Campbell only just recovered from injury. Dunn holds his spot as the second ruck. This is an awful situation IMO, but what can we do?

MacDonald plays Grimes' role.

Hopefully we can appeal Trengove's suspension (if anything we should appeal the length, Campbell Brown got 2 weeks for deliberately elbowing Ward in the head FFS!), but if not, Morton may get a reprieve. However, there is a lot of talk about Evans, who I don't know a lot about. Maybe he will get his chance. Howe looked good a couple of weeks ago too. I'm not entirely happy with Morton coming straight back, but our hand is somewhat forced until Scully and McKenzie are fit.

Sorry mate, i don't want to see bennell Or Morton in the side for at least a months penance. They've just got to learn to go harder for the pill. I thought you would know that, being a Whelan fan. If they don't learn it Now, they'll be rotten fruit.

according to the Herald Sun, Stef Martin hurt his ribs in the VFL on the weekend, and is unlikely to come up for the game...

unless they parachute Maxy or Campbell from the Casey reserves into the AFL, it will be Juice leading our ruck division on Saturday if Stef doesn't come up...

With Grimes and Jamar now out injured and Trengove's unfair suspension team changes IMO need to be.

IN: Bennell, Gawn, MacDonald, Newton

OUT: Grimes (inj), jamar (inj), Trengove (susp), Bate (dropped for team balance only)

FB: Garland, Warnock, Bail

HB: MacDonald, Frawley, Tapscott,

C: Jones, Moloney, Green

HF: Petterd, Watts, Maric

FF: Newton, Jurrah, Wonna

FOLL: Gawn, Gysberts, Bartram

INT: Bennell, Davey, Sylvia

SUB: Dunn

EMERG: Jetta, Morton, Rivers

To early to bring Campbell in as he's only had 1 game with Casey reserves and Martin isn't a specialist ruckman so can't take the no 1 ruck role which leaves Gawn.

As for the back up ruck, we need someone a bit better in the ruck then Dunn who has the ability to play forward when not in the ruck and that leaves Newton, meaning Bate has to go for team balance.

Out: Trengove (for perfect tackling), Jamar (for being indispensable), Grimes (so he doesn't get cocky, thinking he can string more than 6 uninjured games together), Moloney (cos if you're being cruelled by the footy gods, then you might as well play along)

Possible Ins :Rivers (now we just know he's NOT gonna come up now) Martin (what, him too?), Spencer (OOPS), Fitzpatrick (hang on...), Campbell (is he on the playing list, or coaching staff?)

Real Ins: MacDonald (so he can hurt someone, and make us all feel better), Bennell and Morton (to give us someone to blame if North keep their habit of Dee-beatings) Evans or Nicholson (so we can unearth the next great hope and then debate their worth as trade bait over the next couple of years), Newton (and I NEVER thought I'd see myself write this!!!!)

Ins: Newton, MacDonald/Rivers & Jetta

Out, Jamar, Grimes & Trengove

Martin is unlikely to come up, Rivers is doubtful.

I would actually try Jurrah in the ruck. He has a great leap so could be competitive and if not the fall back is Newton and Dunn.

No, for the same reason as Watts. If we're going to have a sacrificial lamb - which is what a non-ruckman playing in the ruck is - then I'd prefer it not be someone so critical to the side. So it's Dunn, or perhaps as Red Sox suggested, Warnock in to the ruck for mine.

If we don't think we can win this game then we may as well forfeit.

We will find out how good Moloney is this week without Jamar tapping it into his hands.

Players who think they've been hard done by...maric, bate, warnock, petterard...this is there chance to shine.

Bring in Newton or whoever is fit for our best available 22.

Gawn or Campbell surely have to come into the side. Only one game in the ressies for Campbell, but this is what he was recruited for. Rotate with Dunn.

We would have to elevate Campbell from the rookie list for him to play.

What odds is Jordie Mc making a comeback this week, similar to how the Eagles used Le Cras (in terms of game time). Adds grunt to the guts, and if we can get a solid 2 1/2 quarters out of him and then sub him off, would it be better than nothing?

I have absolutely no idea what changes are going to be made now that Jamar is out. I still believe that Evans will be promoted and get a game this week (as per my earlier post).

Out: Jamar, Trengove, Grimes

In: Gawn or Newton or Campbell, Evans or McKenzie, MacDonald or Bennell or Rivers. Any of these inclusions wouldn't surprise! Honestly think it will be Newton, MacDonald and Bennell.

I fully understand that, but I think some people may have forgotten he's "only" a rookie - hence why I posted that comment.

As soon as our rookie elevations have been announced, it will paint a clearer picture as to what we can expect to see for the remainder of the season. A couple of interesting decisions will be made.

Anyone know when we will announce these? My guess will be tomorrow at about 5:01pm.

Billy2803 both Campbell and Mckenzie played half a game in the Casey reserves, I really think we are pushing the envelpoe to expect them to front vs north on saturday. Remember they are both coming back from long term injuries. Both are too good to risk for this week when we still have 15 weeks left. We are realy going to need both for the last dozen games so if that means going short the next two weeks so be it.

Gawn played well in the Casey reserves the week before he was average at best, This week in Casey seniors for mine.

That leaves us with a combination of Martin ( hope like hell he is fit ) Dunn, and Newton not great but the best of a bad situation.

Please not Bennell he has failed on numerous occasions, give Jetta a run ( he was an emergency last sunday ) or upgrade Evans or Nicholson

The biggest concern with him is that he's not 'Match fit' and hasn't had much game time to find touch. I thought he played more than a half, but not so maybe we can play him as the sub. Then he could come on to a pocket and pinch hit in the ruck.

IMO we'd still need to play both Newton/Martin or Newton/Gawn.

Post # 100 is the someone. Hope your enjoying the interest in all of this.

I'm leaning more and more towards Warnock being our 'best' option with Dunn. Seems to be far too many question marks on the alternatives.

How awful, but we hope for a contest at best and the midfield, especially at stoppages, will need to work as a unit to offset this huge loss of Jamar. Depending on Trengove and his availability we may get away with this against North but against the saints and blues it will have a huge impact.

I realise he is coming off a long term injury, but his body would be 100%, match fitness, maybe not so much. I'm asking if Jordie can play at 100% for 80% of a game. If he can, I think it's not a bad idea playing him and then subbiing him off. If he can only play 80% of the game at 80% intensity, there is no way I would risk him.

I totally agree about Campbell in terms of fitness, totally disagree at this stage about him being too good and needing him for the last dozen games though! We picked him up as a rookie, and a late pick at that. It was obviously an insurance thing to some degree and more a development person for our young talls. I didn't say we should pick him, I think it's highly unlikely he will get picked, but I wouldn't be surprised if he were to be considered.

This is all assuming Martin doesn't get up. If he does, he is an automatic replacement for Jamar.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
