Brad Green

Didn't look like he was hurting too much on the Telly Tonight....Brad still has some good football in him, but i have my doubts as to whether he is a captain as well.

Oh for gods sake, he was on a comedy footy show. What the bloody hell do you want him to do? Burst into tears while ranting and raving I suppose.....

But given the tone towards our captain right now I'm sure he'd be resoundingly abused for that too.

The guy is having a rough patch certainly, he is playing like he is burdened by the role and position he is in, but he is not alone and he definitely isn't getting a lot,

if any of help from those around him. The problems we are having (again) are team, all are responsible.

I'm not apologising for rubbish form but he was almost resoundingly supported for the captaincy in here. How quick we forget what he has done for this club in

pretty frigging recent times in favour of berating, no lynching a guy who is clearly in a form slump. Form fluctuates a lot and often.

Do we need better from our leaders? Yes and we probably need better leaders full stop. But stop abusing Green, it's cheap.

Indeed ! Short memories.

There's a term for this sort of reaction, it escapes my mind for the time being, but many here have it.

Certainly no 'fantasy'.

This should be merged with the "I hate the logo because we lost to the Eagles" thread.

Any other drastic overreactions that people want to get in before next week? Kaspersky failed to find the virus on your computer? Hankook tyres caused you to crash into a tree? Start a thread!

Fluff!

BE CALM YOUNG DEMONOIDS! BRAD GREEN is one of Our few proven champions. Champions don't lie down for long. But, he aint young enough for a utility role anymore. Bails.....settle him down up forward and......ROTATE!!! B)

I'm more angry about the fact he was happy and all smiles when And Maher pointed out that we were still in the 8.

I feel embarrassed that we are. He seems genuinely excited and happy.

Sums up our club for me. Shithouse.

Couldn't he have come out and said "actually it's a little embarrassing considering the footy we are playing at the moment, we are having a good hard look at ourselves and working on some ideas that will ensure we are there at week 1 of finals"

Just so [censored] off right now at everything Melbourne.

[censored].

Give it a break, he's been put on the spot. its easy for you to say that after giving it some thought behind a computer screen without any pressure. Brad probably feels the same way as we do, but he just couldn't present it?

Here's another problem. We call our good players "Champions".

Luke Hodge is a champion. Chris Judd is a champion. Scott Pendlebury is a champion.

Brad Green is and has been a good to very good player.

We have not had a champion footballer since Flower.

Brad Green has been/is a wonderful ambassador for our club. I am pleased he represents us and no other club. As a player and representative of the football department he actually has the runs on the board and stood the test of time. Moreover he has given his heart and soul for the place and remained loyal ( a novel quality in the era of the mercenary).I cannot recall or imagine him ever been in troble or causing concern for those running the club.

Not a bad role model I would have thought.

It seems to me that he has been somewhat thrust into the leadership position which would be a fair challenge for anyone with our young side and now some want to rip into him for appearing on a TV show for 5 minutes.

This bloke is closer to the end of his playing football journey than its commencement and he would be the first to acknowledge his form could have been better but I'm confident he will deal with these challenges just like he always has.

Great clubman Greeny and he can go on 20 TV shows if he likes.

He's one bloke you leave alone.

No HT, fantasy would be saying Greeny will turn around his season next week and kick 8 goals

After the game is not a comedy show. Before the game is.

I would give Brad a week at Casey to toughen him up. You wouldn't.

Not enough hard nosed supporters around here. The club has drained you over the last 47 years. It is understandable, but none the less sad.

Why should he be "left alone" after last thursday...Perfect example of why this club has a soft underbelly.

Brad is a great guy and has been a good player, but his captaincy this year has been plain awful.

It was actually not on Before the Game which is the comedy show, he was on the program after the match which discusses the weekends footy results in a serious format. Anyone who saw it would say that he handled it very poorly and it was a perfect chance for our captain to give the members something other than cliches and giggles.

I heard Stynes on the radio yesterday and it was the first time I've been disappointed in him. I didn't expect him to flat out say Bailey will go, but he rehashed all the cliches and "baileyisms". It's gotten to the point that I can't bare to listen to people from our club anymore as I'm sick of all talk no action on field.

So Brad Green is the reason the clubs got a soft underbelly is it.

Good, I'm glad we got that one settled.

Funny I seem to recall him running backward, sideays, headlong into backs and risking his own personal safety on numerous occaisions. Also recall him overcoming obstacles in the past. He's struggling at the moment for sure but I think we owe him a little respect.

You're entitled to your opinion and in part I can understand your sentiments, we are all hurting, but I wouldn't be executing our leader just yet.

No, but your attitude towards his form is soft as. What's the problem with dropping someone for a week after 5 truly horrible games?

He is better than that.

What Queen said.

If I was rating the "supporters" performance it would be significantly worse than Brads.

Deep down there is a lot of supporters on here and in the public who like the MFC not succeeding, Being the nice polite boys wearing the suits.

Giving Greeny a week in the two's would put a rocket through the whole list.

I doubt it will get done, but it dam well should.

I know its a small thing but whats with him calliing the coach of the team we go into battle against this week in what is now a big game for us Craigy. Craigy. Youve got to be joking. Shows the same lack of respect we show teams on the field.

the selction of Green as Captain has only been to the detriment of his own game and to the team for not finding a true on-filed leader. Yes he's struggling and I see nothing is his demeanor currently to suggest it will change. .

Neeta would have been far more sombre and circumspect and truly embarassed for the club.Junior would have a different take as well im sure..

True leadership starts with actions...not words

Acknowledge Green has had an average start. He could easily have been an All Australian last year and changed his football around to become a very courageous player over the last 5 years or so. Give him some slack for an average 5 games for gods sake.

Didn't see the show but got a text from a Collingwood friend pr!ck, "just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for Melbourne - brad green's performance on ch10 has done more damage if you can believe it".

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
