Will be interesting to see the boys having a 'real' hitout compared to last weeks round robin.

Almost certain Petterd will be one of the three named who doesn't end up playing. The other two should come from Blease, Howe and Cook. I don't see the club risking Ricky and the young lads will probably kept on ice. Long season ahead....

Probably right re Petterd, but I think they'd be looking to get some game time into Blease, and Cook showed a bit in Adelaide, so he could make the cut.

Does anyone know if we can get in with our MFC memberships tomorrow? Looking at the MFC/AFL website it appears that only AFL membership holders can get in with their memberships the rest of us have to buy general admin. tickets for $20.

I think we'll use a tall forward and a ruckman as a sub, we might see Spencer and one of Howe or Cook in the role. Otherwise great side.

Backline is very solid, the only real missing link is obviously, Frawley. Will be great when we get him back.

Really hope Strauss can get more of the ball as well tomorrow night, he really took control of the second half of the intraclub.

What an absolute joke. So in addition to ~$500 a year each for our memberships now three of us have to fork out another $60 to see a practice match. No wonder the AFL's making money hand over fist they squeeze the clubs and supporters for everything they're worth.

Flip Petterd who will not play for Howe or Evans and I reckon you are pretty much on the money.

What's going on with Tapscott and Gysberts??? Not in the squad and not listed on our injury list.. I keep thinking about Gysberst effort against the Cats year, and cant wait to see if he can back that sort of brilliance up again. Seems like an absolute ball magnet from the few games he's played.

Probably a combination of lack of match fitness, having almost a full list to choose from and NAB cup prize money.

I dare say if we were playing a challenge match they'd probably get a run.

You don't wnat to rush young players that have had limited pre-season, depending on how we go tonight you would expect if we win both will more then lkely line up at Casey next week, if we lose they might get a run with a few players getting a rest.

Like the confidence of "see him in the semi" from Hardtrack!

I am confident that we will make the semis... however, since I found out the grand final is on Friday 11th I'm less confident about our chances of progressing that far... I was certain we would make it to (and win) the GF simply because I fly out to LA on the morning of the 12th and I thought it was on the night of the 12th. I'm sure that makes sense; I think.

Petterd definitely not playing - on his twitter.

listening to sports today last night and they were wondering about the wisdom of petterd tweeting this info so soon after the club released the squad..

it's a good point. Was he included to play mind games with the Bombers?

It's NAB Cup -- does it really matter?

If it were a regular season match, I could understand, but this is nothing...

Agreed. If this was a real match you definitely wouldn't want a named player telling the other team he's not playing. But this is just NAB Cup.

If a player doesn't train the day before in a very light session you won't play him in a NAB cup match. Petterd may be able to play but another week rest will enable him to get over it. The last thing Ricky needs is to do it again because he comes back to early. 4 weeks till the real stuff starts enough time to get match fit, he pings it again he misses the start of the season and will need to come back through Casey.

I would expect Evans and Cook to miss tonight, more hoping would love to see Blease and Howe play but I wouldn't be upset to see Blease and Cook play.

well it seems to me they are looking to win the match as much as they would a regular game, therefore whatever tactics are employed to achieve this should be appropriately respected

I can see the day when Twittering football issues may become a banned activity for footballers. Could cause real problems unless it is an attempt to disseminate disinformation or confusion.

good call

from an opposition coach's POV he couldn't be sure if the tweet is a ploy or genuine, therefore it cannot affect his strategy. Interesting.

So you think we will win if you don't see the game?

If that is the case, do you think you could get a Thursday flight?:)

I am very interested to see how Hird approaches this game. Spent all his career as a student of Sheedy as have many of his assistants. Missed their first NAB games. I understand they are stacking their forward line with talls. Typical Sheedy tactic. I wonder also if special Sheedy style attention will be given to Jurrah and Watts or will they save it for later in the season?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
