Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

rpfc you seem to have a fixation on all this mfcss and handwringing stuff. Instead of trying to be demonlands's resident psychologist maybe you need to see a counsellor about your own fixation B)

at this stage I don't know who or what to believe, but it does seem that this will not be resolved for months and months. This means (no matter what you and your ilk counteract with) that I'm going to have this sour taste in the back of my mouth for a long time. It may not be too rational but i'm a passionate supporter and at the end of the day i'm more ruled by the heart than the mind. It really is going to ruin or at least take the edge of what was looking to be a very enjoyable and anticipated season.

"It's my footy club and I'll cry if I want......cry if I want" (apologies to LG)

Sour taste, yes. That's fine. I have it too.

But...

Calling for Bailey to confront Tom.

Calling for ultimatums.

Playing Tom at Casey for not signing a contract.

Etc.

These are embarrassing over-reactions to the situation.

Posters can say what they like.

I can call them out for it.

Unrelated, but has anyone considered the fact that in 2009, the young, non-AFL player/Richmond supporting Tom Scully was watching the round 18 Melbourne V Richmond match with his Dad? They were likely well aware that Scully would be considered for the no.1 draft selection, and that the McMahon kick after the siren could potentially be the difference between joining the Dees and his beloved Tigers.

Imagine the scene - McMahon trots in, kicks..... and goal!!! After that kick, while many Melbourne fans were celebrating, the Scully family would probably have been on the floor in agony.

Just a thought.

Now, back to your bickering folks.

Wow. Just....wow. Just a thought.

they're at the coal face, with their reputations on the line. Unlike Eddie and a bunch of posters screaming the sky is falling - when they wouldn't have the faintest. that is amusing.

What was Liam Pickering doing all of last year. Dont be fooled they talk more crap than anyone.

Please bear this in mind next time you judge him as something less than the person of character that I'm sure he is.

Thank God for sane posts like these. The brigade who are ready to hang, draw and quarter the poor boy on the basis of a rumour frighten me. Eddie has a lot to answer for and I really hope that his team is the one that is hit hardest by GWS.

because all those factors could be built-in to the terms of the contract

e.g. a clause relating to performance in 2011 (B&F etc)

e.g. a clause relating to AFL salary cap changes in 2011 due to TV rights/aflpa bargaining etc

I'm not saying this is the only considerations to signing now but your points could be addressed within a contract now

Spot on...could not agree more

It is very clear to me that if Tom Scully wanted to play for MFC beyond 2011 a contract could be done now, and this would all be over.

The fact that Tom and his management refuse to talk until the end of the year leads me to believe that he is going. And who could blame him.

We are just going to have to put up with the BLAH BLAH BLAH that his management and all involved will be speaking all year.

I believe that even without him we still have the most exciting list i have seen in my 25 years of supporting the dees. IMO

GO DEES!!!

i think trengove has just become my new fav player! what a gun!

Good words from Trengove for sure.

Starting to get sick of the falsehoods related to our past performances though, they get more blasé as time goes on.

"Three consecutive bottom-three finishes on the AFL ladder have allowed the Dees to stockpile impressive young talent, including Scully, Trengove, emerging forward Jack Watts, defender Jack Grimes, midfielders Cale Morton and Jordan Gysberts and untried duo Sam Blease and Luke Tapscott, over the past few years."

Two key players we acquired via trading senior players for picks but I guess it's easier for some to put down our wealth of talent simply due to finishing down the bottom.

The three consecutive bottom 3 finishes relate to 2007-2009. In any case, it's 4 bottom 5 finishes in a row.

Agree with your point on the players though, that's quite poor journalism.

Let's hear it for a pathetic attempt at shameless self-promotion. They cruise through some message boards, come up with a sensationalist statement with no facts to back it up and declare themselves to have broken a story.

All these post about Scully makes us sound like complaining Carlton supporters or sulky Bombers supporters.

We are Demons so we need ACT!

There is only one thing to do - we ALL need to help Tom find a Melbourne based girlfriend that he would never leave for.

There is only one thing ultimately more compelling than money at that is a good woman. Who would leave Miranda Kerr or the like.

yes, maybe, but argue the points and avoid the overdone psychoanalysis and constant references to mfcss etc.

it doesn't enhance your arguments and becomes repetitively offputting.

posters are not mfc supporters because they are logical, objective automatons. Its a passionate, emotional and subjective journey.

this topic is especially an emotive one because there are no known facts, a multitude of just opinions, an enforced time delay and at the end of the day only one person's opinion will count, despite however logical the "experts" opinions may be.

its gonna be a long frustrating wait no matter how many people tell me to take a deep breath, move on, stiffen up or any of the other epithets

If Jurrah, Watts and Petterd go berserk on the forward line we may finish a lot higher than many people think. remember how david schwartz and sean charles straightened us up in '94? If we do perform above expectations this may be the one key factor in holding players like Scully at the club, because at the end of the day the promise of a premiership is the one trump card we hold in fending off the new northern clubs not to mention free-agency raiders.

+ 1 on that.

And his management use the line that they wait until years end so as to be less of a distraction?! Genius.

It's not Scully we should worry about - he strikes me as too smart to throw his career away for short-term greed at GWS. After all, what supporters at GWS are going to adore the guy and his footy skills and make him the absolute champion he will be by staying with the Dees?

I think it's his management, who would be the real winners.

By the time Scully's on massive money at MFC, he might have changed manager. So there's big incentive for his current management to grab the quick bucks.

I just hope he's getting equally strong advice from someone close to him without that conflict of interest.

If he did go (and I'm betting he won't), the fact that short-term greed motivated him to that extent would help soften the loss. But like I said, I think he's got more than footy smarts in the Scul-head of his!

In response to my tweet to Damian Barrett.

The money to go is extraordinary for a 19-y-o. And while right now I think he's gone, the pressure to stay might get him in the end

That's what I like to see: a man of conviction. None of this two bob each way stuff for him.

As with many topics - we have very similar viewpoints. I agree with most of what you say.

My analysis of MFCSS may be overdone recently, but that is only because of the relative explosion of its symptoms recently.

And I know fans are not automatons, but I would prefer us to have more belief, faith, and confidence in the club than many are showing (the most comical example would be posters bringing up our failed past (22 years without finals, 24 years ago) as a buttress of their negative foretelling of doom).

I would prefer the refreshingly arrogant, if abrasive, view of JCB and others when they say "meh, if he goes it's his loss."

Now it would be our loss aswell, but it is not 'our lot.'

I think Tom's being being milked as a cash cow. All his management are thinking is the big bucks. Now they are going to continue to mess with his head for next 6 the months if he hasn't been locked in already with GWS. In that case Tom is going to have a very difficult year.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to
