Now as we enter a new season and we are missing a few of the perennial 'whipping boys', such as Bruce, Miller, PJ.....who does everybody think will rise to the occasion to become the new Demonland whipping boy.......Bartram and Newton have a slight head start providing they play.....

Unfortunately if Jack Watts doesnt start to have a bigger impact and kick a few more goals he may bare the brunt of a lot of stick on here. I personally think hes another 18 months off warranting being a "whipping boy".

Matty Bate and Morton also comes to mind.

This is easy, our first picks from the 2007/08 drafts, Cale Morton and Jack Watts. Cale will replace Bruce as the guy some love and the guy some love to hate.

Matty Bate by the length of the straight.

Barters had a pretty good year last year so he may get some respite and Maric hasn't troubled the starters much so he is a bit below the radar at the moment.

If Cale Morton kick one to the opposition you will see it multiplied 20 fold and it will be every kick is a clanger. If Campbell isn't in all Australian form it will have been a waste of a pick ( Rookie or otherwise).

Whoever started this dumb, masochistic, self-flaggelating, defeatist thread is the obvious answer

What Melbourne supporters?

Sorry not a fan of this topic AT ALL.

Don't know - I reckon it's a fair question. There are always players on the list who can do absolutely no right in the eyes of supporters on the forums; get slagged when it isn't deserved and don't get the credit when it is deserved.

So it is with a roll of the eyes and an audible groan that I suggest that #6 will bear the brunt if it from the numpties this year.

I have seen Watts cop a bit. Bate and Morton more and more. Batram's kicking has had me roll the eyes a few time. And, stay with me here, Jurrah has copped it for the same reason TJ copped it.

Looks lazy.

Melbourne supporters...

Tisk, tisk.

Honestly don't think this topic is that bad.

It's not like it's inviting people to say 'Who's our worst player?' or 'Which Melbourne player really sucks?' (although I didn't help with my above post re: Maric).

It's asking who we think will be the guy people complain about no matter what. Which player will cop the flak, deserved or otherwise? PJ, Bell and Bruce copped a hell of a lot over the years.

To be fair, there was one game this year where he did look lazy and/or disinterested (the Brisbane game at the Gabba from memory).

The reaction might have been OTT but the basis was justified IMO.

Not a long term issue by any means, but at the time it didn't look nice.

Not stopping anyone from commenting, not at all. Feel free to rip in. Just put up my 2 cents worth as it is December, and i want to give all the Boys a chance next year-even Juice!! B)

Number 6 has been my whipping boy for a few years.... I don't see that changing for me.

However, on second thought I am open to change, just learn how to run faster, be smart with your possession and not go missing for weeks at a time and you might just gain the approval of this highly respected member of the Melbourne faithful.

Then again... I am just some random Melbourne supporter who's opinion on your skills shouldn't and won't affect you at all....

Carry on Bater.

Missed the point part 2. Its not a criticism thread at all just a recognition that certain players cop a hiding on this site out of whack with their performance.

Its not a case of ripping in at all.

I think Cale Morton will unfairly cop a lot of criticism.

Bate too, but I'm worried he'll deserve it.

People will rip in to certain players within the Hour, it's the nature of these threads.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
