Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Been thinking about this one. What is best for the club as a whole, in light of what has taken place over the last 3 years?

This club is almost brand new in certain ways. With that in mind is it not better to give the captaincy to one of our young guns in the hope he will captain the side for 10+ years??

Or do we give the captaincy to an older warrior for 2-3 years in honour of service.

I am not sure of the answer, there are good points both ways.

Good points you raise- I believe that one of the polsters will get the nod- I feel Brad Green is the most likely and best choice. However, I feel that at least two of the younger players will be incorporated in the leadership group- being Grimes & Frawley.Green is the most flexible and positional interchange player in the team, in that, he can play hbf, wing, centre, hff, fp or FF and he can get around the ground and lead and captain all over the ground. This no doubt will bring on the players. Also he should get it re his personal performance- Mike Sheehan rates him in the top 20 players going around at the moment- a personal great acheivement and in particular in the twilight of his career.Captain for 2/3 years then we will have a very strong leadership group behind him and really ready for the premiership onslaught..

I agree with your thoughts Wyl...

I'm a Moloney man, & have been for some time,,, to inject some spine. We'll need it as we lose the passive/mediocre label. But having said that, we need to pay respect to our leading & loyal team leaders like Green, whom I spoke to around 2003, suggesting he could become a future Captain,, If he puts the body in more.

So, In my mind, I'd Now like to see Green made the captain for the next Year or 2,,, & then Moloney, If he's still firing along,, for a stint... Time will tell...

I think Green would be an ideal captain

Brad Green is Fantastic on the field, i love how he plays. But is he also a natural leader off the field?? Is it in his personality, that is important?

Brad is a top bloke, but each time i see him in the media i just get the feeling he is not comfortable with it altogether.

Scully is a natural leader, you can see it-How long until he is ready to toss the coin???

Good points JC, i agree with what you say, i am just wondering whether Brad Green actually wants the Captaincy? He will be a leader on the field anyway. There are so many extra jobs to do that come with the captaincy off field. For some players it is a distraction. Because we will need another 50 odd goals from Greeny next year. His on field roll is hugely important.

Interesting decisions will be made.

... I didn't make the poll.

Too young and not enough games, but leadership "written all over him."

I know you didn't make the poll, I just replied to you because you mentioned him. But leadership group at the least, captain after Green retires :)

Even Chip Frawley has to be considered in a year or so if his attitude and form continues.

I hope we can groom a long term Captain for this Decade and beyond whomever it is.

Someone where leadership is a natural to them. (Steve Waugh like!!!!) B)

I'd love Moloney to be named captain - he shows the most passion for the club both on and off the field.

His boxing camp and the package he puts together to show the new recruits the history of the club shows me that hes the ideal candidate.

Having said that Green will probably get the gig..

I realise this harks back to another era but I remember vividly the disappointment in 1988 I felt when Greg Healy became captain instead of Danny Hughes who was our best player.

Out of many emerging stars from Slug Jordans Under 19 and then Reserves Premierships, Greg was the up-and-comer who had greatness thrust upon him. I didnt think he wore the mantle well but it was difficult as he followed Robbie, so maybe the chalice was a bit sour...

We had as many young stars then as now IIRC.

Hughes eventually left but my mind never really changed even though Sugar was a good player...And I never got over the Yee-Haw.(some will know what I mean).

Green or Davey for me.

Would love to see a fit and firing Moloney as captain.

Would understand Green having it for a couple.

Would understand Davey getting it.

I think it is down to these three and my preference would be down to Moloney, then Green, then Davey.

Have discussed the captaincy issue with one of the club stalwarts (not a player) who is still deeply involved with the club and he states that Brad Green is a shoe in for the job. Best and Fairest for 2010, leading goal kicke,r a player who can play in numerous positions and still has at least 3 good years of football ahead of him, also he is tough, still puts himself in dangerous situations even after having his jaw shattered. Also he handles himself well with the press and for those who think different our immediate past captain was not a top performer in the public arena, no criticism of him but seeing as it was mentioned about Greens lack of public experience it is not the main criteria for being the captain of an AFL club.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
