Pretty much exactly the same.

Bennel, Jones, Wona, and Bail the unlucky ones. And i'm hoping Tapscott, Gysberts and Blease will play plenty of games next season.

Having only 3 on the bench is a real [censored], it really will be the death of the 2nd ruckman. Not happy with Martin, but I guess he's the only real option as back up ruckman

RUCK: Jamar, McKenzie, Sylvia

INT: Trengove, Gysberts, Scully

SUB: Bennell

I'd play Martin in the back-line where he belongs, and have him rotate through the ruck when required. I sort of want to replace Rivers with Macdonald, but I can't really see Rivers being dropped for Round 1. I wish we didn't have to play Bruce, but he is still a worth-while player, despite his faults. I could also see Jones on the bench instead of Gysberts, or even replacing Martin with Macdonald, dropping Gysberts or Bennell and putting Martin on the interchange as more of a true back-up ruckman.

How good is it to have depth? We all had to leave players out, but to think I've got Bail, Tapscott, Blease, Wona, Warnock to name a few playing at Casey, there's going to be some competition to keep spots in 2011. Bring on 2012+!!!

Second ruck is a concern. Martin would have to be considered for this spot, maybe as the sub instead of Morton. Ruck Jamar flat out for three quarters then sub him off maybe.

I'm not going to do it because I cant be bothered, but this new interchange rule shits me. I see no advantages to it. The sub is an interesting one. A team like Melbourne could definately use it to its advantage as you would be hoping for a player that is quick with good disposal to come on and make an impact while the rest of the field is slowing down.

What type of player do people think will be selected for the sub role? Do you think we will have a designated sub, or subs would be chosen tacticaly depending on who we are playing. It would be fair to say that the sub player would not be considered part of the best 18 as they are not required for the whole game, but someone who could bring something to the table also to change the tempo of the game if a plan c may be needed. A goal kicker, or exceptional field kick should only be considered for sub IMO.

^ I think one of the outcomes is going to be that the trend towards playing one ruck plus one guy who can just hold his own, but offers something else, will increase.

The other impact will be that guys who have a good tank will benefit.

I'm not sure how the sub will work - I'm sure there'll be a few different tactics before one is settled on.

I think the vast majority of selections are ignoring the fact that someone has to ruck when Jamar is resting. I don't think it should be Dunn - he's playing the defensive-forward role very well and he's a scoring threat - if he has to ruck and rest then that role is missing. We've got a problem there and that's why we were chasing Hale. I wouldn't play Jamar and Spencer together, and PJ has had his chances. IMO it has to be Fitzpatrick, Newton or Martin unless we can draft a mature age player like say Sinclair.

Bruce Rivers Grimes

Bennell Jurrah Fitzy/Newton/Martin

If Bruce doesn't sign I'd replace him with Macdonald.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
