5 players sign new deals

Bruce is one off the top of my head

Jones, Bruce and Warnock rumours will continue until they are signed.

I personally would prefer to see all 3 stay at the club, however at least none of these 3 players are absolutely core players to our team moving forward.

Warnock- i'd keep as depth, but really our 5th best tall option in defence these days

Bruce- a definite best 18 player but is 30 yrs old and won't be playing for more than 2-3 more years

Jones- a really well-liked gutsy player, still young, but lets be honest, he isn't the core player that's going to lead us to a premiership. Even this year, with our young midfielders all undeveloped, he only finished 13th in our b&f. would still love him to stay, i believe he can still improve.

Overall though, a pretty good result. Imagine if we'd left James Frawley or Aaron Davey unsgined till now.

Warnock has a year on his contract, doesn't he? Sure that he will come up in discussions regardless.

Good day for the club.

Seriously?? Initial 2 year deal

Got a standard 2 year contract when drafted, so still has a year to go. I'm sure they'll get him to sign an extension soon, but clearly those out of contract take first priority.

Thanks guys.... & girls, yes I forgot about the standard 2 year deal. Would be nice to see him tucked away for another year or two after 2011 to keep him well away from any GWS temptations.

Obviously everyone else listed here needed to be done first.

has sam blease signed? he is out of contract...surely we won't let him go?

Not a chance.

Hell, we re-signed Strauss, didn't we?!

Blease is one I'm really excited about.

Once he gets up to speed he is going to be a real weapon.

Excellent news as all 5 deserve new contracts and further solidifying of MFC playing group.

Agree Jonesey is next priority and presumably delay with him and Cam Bruce signing will be related to term and whether GC chasing them. Maybe issue re vetrans list re Bruce but that was supposed to be part of reason for pushing Junior to retire.

Also agree Blease is an absolute must to lock up!

What are you inferring to there??

Strauss has a lethal kick (if you've watched him) that is a dead-eye, especially with kick-outs! Perhaps he will have a role in the coming years...? Taken at pick 18 in 2008...

Well done to Tim Harrington for securing the services of 5 more important players.

Jones, Warnock and Bruce will obviousley be floated during trade week. Bruce may as rumoured be bound for GC. Warnock and Jones will defintily be trade bait too see if we can improve our list. Both might want to be moved on for more opportunity.

Great too see the 5 signings. All required players!

good to see they see a future in straussy! alot of ppl on here were starting to question whether he would remain on the list at years end.

Nobody with a clue said that. Only the worst of the worst get delisted after two years. If you show any promise whatsoever in your first two years, you have earned an extension to give further opportunity to show what you're made of. That's fairly standard practice.

It doesn't mean Strauss will make it and like many I don't think he will - but he has done enough to earn the benefit of the doubt and therefore the opportunity to prove it either way.

Great news. Not sure about the decision to sign Strauss for two years though. One year provides greater flexibility. IMO we have made this mistake before with Newton and Cheney.

and what 'mistake' did 'we' make with Cheney....who by the way is contracted for 2011...isn't he....thought he signed new deal right at beginning of year?....

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury. LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die!
