IIRC the first player mentioned is Bail, and the author says he deserves to be a best 22 player, which I found a bit off.

Pretty good effort, though.

Biggest errors - Cheney doesn't have good skills, Davey doesn't play half back, Frawley didn't play on Barry Hall, Jones didn't improve as a tagger.

But was pretty good overall, was spot on for most players.

Where does Davey play if not half back? I thought Chip did play on Hall? Agree with Cheney & Jones.

seems like few players will be shown the door and come the end of 2011, even more will be shown the door (if no improvement).

Well I agree with him...

I think Jones improved in his tagging role.

Pretty harsh to knock a guy who's in hospital with fractured vertebrae, but I thought he was spiflicated by Harvey when he was tagging him, and I'm not convinced that he will end up being a good tagger.

Jones had indeed improved but still not there... Close. . Decisions are better... Another step up again next year would be great .

I agree what exactly IS Daveys actual posi ? Will depend on role for the day. Bail .. Definitely a find :)

is a little kind to some players but a fair assessment me thinks

Spiflicated ? good description.

I would have liked to have seen Scully go with Harvey from the start.

Straight to the point by Luke. Seems to be a reasonable assessment.

Agree. So close to the mark that most of us could have written it.

Me too. We put Morton on Goodes for a day which was a learning exercise above all else. I reckon Scully could have learned a thing or two if he'd been on Harvey for the full game, not just half of it.

.do we know who the author is, can't find him on any of the MFC staff lists?

Probably a writer from afl.com.au. That's where this first bobbed up (to my knowledge). They're doing it for all the bottom 8 sides at the moment.

Yes, Luke Holmes is a writer for the AFL. Google is a wonderful friend

Good point however I think they played Scully in the role they want him in - line breaking midfielder.

I think Jones is a good tagger (could use extra pace) who was battling well with Harvey before injury.

Interesting both Gerard Healy & James Hird called for Watts to be played as a tall ruck rover... IMO I think we should keep him deep in the forward line.

I would have said Davey was playing in the midfield for most of the year.

As for Hall, Warnock absolutely spanked him. I think Hall got 11 disposals, 1 mark and 1 point for the game.

I thought it was well written and like most fairly accurate overall.

Not bad for an outsiders perspective.

Frawley was on Hall.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
