Changes for next week

out moloney and jones

both overrated and go missin too often for senior players

im over them and wouldnt get games in top sides

warnock is a worry

First game back and moloney had 27 touches.

Watts and Bennel should go first, tired of these guys getting an easy run at it. Bate and Hughes were both in the best for casey, although Hughes is just back from a long lay off. So maybe Miller. I was at Casey and Tapscott is still not quite ready. Maric is put of by physical contact and shirks it to much.

Bennel is woeful at the moment and Watts is providing little.

In: Warnock, Bennel, Newton

Out: MacDonald, Sylvia, Bate

Those 3 inclusions will improve our team.

Bennel needs a rest, he has great attributes but has been down on form.

Newton to never play for MFC again.

Warnock... is now really just good depth. Macdonald a better player

Mixed them up there.

I missed the game today but did Warnock line up on Schultz?

Yes he did, for pretty much the entire game. Although Schultz is actually a very good mark, I was disappointed by the amount of times Warnock was out-marked, out-positioned and just generally beaten. He had to be moved forward in the last because he was soundly beaten.

Schultz is a decent opponent, but i guess i'm starting to get used to our defenders consistently beating their opponents 1 on 1 (Garland, Joel Mac, Frawley, Rivers all win most 50-50 contests)

As is often the case... it's amazing what is said around here when the Dees lose. Poor old Morton has already copped it hard in here despite him being amongst our best players!!!

Moloney and Jones are our two sole tough nut's and you'd be a fool for saying they are overrated and not needed in our 22. Besides, I don't think either are really rated too highly anyway - especially Jones.

1. Bate can't come in for Newton (who really was ok people!). He can't back up ruck and neither can Dunn. Jamar doing almost a whole game in round 22 is crazy. Bennell was disappointing, it might be his season finished, he's had a solid year.

2. Warnock was very disappointing. If Joel Mac is fine he can come back in, wouldn't mind McNamara or Cheney either. Bail might make his way for one of these as well. But I feel like Bail has earned one poor match, and the other 2 should play Casey finals. Of course they would never pass up an AFL game, but they have been huge parts of Casey's season, same with Warnock.

3. Jones was average, tagging isn't his go. Sylvia is a better ball hunting inside mid.

4. Jones may get a reprieve as the long year/niggling injury is catching up with Trengove. He is still tackling and putting in effort but just seems to be a step or 2 off where he was earlier in the year. Maybe he has one game left in him, or maybe its time to pull the pin. I'd play him if he is no risk of aggravating anything.

Nonsense. Best players have an appetite for a contest, the abilty to contest; and can kick. Morton doesn't have the first and can't do the 2nd

Don't know what you're wanting to say here. BUT they are not the sole hard nuts - think McKenzie, Bail, Scully for a start. Time will tell who emerges at the end as mids going forward. FWIW, IMO neither Moloney or Jones will be there.

PHYSICAL PRESENCE! Moloney and Jones are the only two (in the midfield)!

Look at what Hawthorn did to us! The harder bodies of Sewell, Hodge, Mitchell and Burgoyne killed us in the middle! We had Jones only (Moloney injured) and then there was McKenzie, Scully and Trengove...

Hawks are seasons ahead and it showed. It's what Melbourne needs to aspire to.

Saw nothing of the game yesterday only going a paper review and statts etc.

I Hate to raise the subject but it would appear JW had another poor one!

From stats only Bennel had less.

Would appear he is going to be played every week no matter how he goes.

However interested in comment on his game?

IN - TAPSCOTT, FITZPATRICK

OUT - Bennell, Newton

Wise move. Both players are injured. Will you wheel them out onto the ground to get a taste of the big time?

No intensity. None.

Comparing a player to PJ does neither player any favours.

I'm not sure either will be on our list next year.

Agree. But if it was a choice between PJ and Newton for a low cost one year contract....I would tend to Newton...as a better punt than a 26yo that has failed in core big man skills.

In- Sylvia, MacDonald, Miller( deserves a farewell game!)

Out- Newton, Warnock, Bail

I am surprised no one has put forward giving Miller a send off game. He deserves it. Hell, if we gave the overweight mercenary in Pickett a charity 200th game in his final year at MFC, Miller deserves a send off in a match with no bearing on finals.

Didn't Jurrah ping his hamstring toward the end of the game? If so, possibly Bate.

Morton went missing for huge lengths during the game, just because one report lists him in the best doesnt mean he was, he was appalling today. Same with Trengove, he looked listless at times, how he gets in the best is baffling.

You can gloat all you want, but theres no way Morton or Trengove deserve to be in the best today

You will find a lot more players went missing through the game other then Morton and Trengrove. There was only a few IMO out of the whole team the stood up.

Not on the senior list, no way. The difference between the two atm is that if PJ stays for next year he'll be on the senior list, but if Newton stays it will be on the rookie list. That, and that alone, is enough to keep Newton on the list over PJ, but that's not enough to keep Newton on the list.

It will happen, at Newton's expense.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bell gets one too.

Out, Warnock, Newton, Bail

In. Joel MC, Bate, Maric

Bennell goes before Bail. No question about it.

In- West out- Bailey

I thought Dean coached poorly yesterday, to keep Warnock on Schultz vertially all game was pathetic

Hope we have several changes this week as several played poorly.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
