Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Oh what a strange game. From bottom of the AFL ladder to 12th spot....after a loss. What a game, gotta love it. ;)

Bring on Crows and Tigers.....

its round 2 and we have ZERO wins.

Yeah, but so does a third of the competition. The difference is, we were "competitive" this week, while others were not. And when you're crap, "competitive" the next best thing to a win.

I am joking, but we should have won yesterday, so i hope the whole team is really peaved off about it.

Had we won the game we would be 11th on the ladder with a poor percentage but in good company equal on points with the likes of Collingwood, the Bulldogs, the Swans and the loser of tomorrow's game but that's crying over spilt milk.

Although this is still a development year we are in a competition and it would have been handy to have recorded a win. We should face up to Adelaide in that context. We've lost 2, they've lost 2 and we need to maintain the motivation and intensity next week and every week.

I was wondering whether it is the greatest ever jump on a ladder without winning a match.

I think the ladder is ordered by name before the start of round one, so I guess that if West Coast has ever had the best percentage of the losing teams after round one, it would have jumped from "16th" to 9th. Also, a draw is not a win, so if anyone has ever drawn in round one, they could have jumped to eighth.

There is no ladder prior to round 1.

Really? I'm sure I've seen one on the AFL website prior to round 1. If not, then I guess I'm wrong. Man I hate that silly devil face though.

But in any case, even if there were a ladder prior to round one, it would be irrelevant, and my post above would merely be technically correct, which (contrary to the beliefs of some) is the worst kind of correct.

This place has gone from deseased skanky indonesian jail cell floor to swank luxurious new york appartment in a matter of days. Football evokes strong emotions. It is the thing that divides and brings us together. MFC- Demon lives here...

Interesting trivia:

Our current position of 12th is the highest we've been since the conclusion of the 2006 season (finished the season 7th on the ladder, beat St Kilda and ended up 5th losing to Freo).

Throughout 2007, 2008 and 2009, we never once made it out of the bottom 4. In 2008 we were 16th for the entire 22 weeks.

Wow. Brad Miller was a star. Brock McLean was going to win a Brownlow and Captain the Club. What else were we thinking would happen at the end of that year?

Just for sh!ts and giggles - the AFL website has a ladder predictor. I tried to be as fair, honest and as harsh as I could be, and I'm the first to admit, I don't pick Melbourne every week in footy tipping comps where there is cash on the line (head beats heart everytime!).

I was quite surprised when I got to the end of round 22 and had the Dee's finishing 10th, with a total of 11 wins. Now, before everyone rips me a new one, I am not getting carried away at last Saturday's game. What I did do was pick us to win in games that I believe are winnable. For example, providing we don't have a week where we played like we did against the Hawks, we wont always need to play at the level we did against the Magpies to beat teams like Essendon, Carlton and even Brisbane at the G. Given our draw, I think we are a realistic chance of winning probably more games than I expected (my preseason estimate was 6-8).

I did have St Kilda finishing on top without losing a game, and Richmond on the bottom without winning one. For what it's worth, this is what my predicted ladder looked like at the end of round 22;

St Kilda (88)

Geelong (72)

Bulldogs (56)

Hawthorn (56)

Lions (56)

Swans (52)

Freo (52)

Pies (48)

-------------

Port (48)

Melbourne (44)

West Coast (36)

Adelaide (36)

Carlton (28)

Essendon (24)

North (8)

Richmond (0)

Give it a go, good for those of us that have too much time on our hands! I'm pretty satisfied with my top 8, even this far out (without taking all the circumstances in to consideration - injuries, suspensions, tanking, etc!).

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
