I believe our forward line is without a doubt the worst part of our side where we struggle to reach the 100 point barrier each week........and to make matters worse we are without a real good solid CHF and lets be honest brad miller isnt up 2 AFL standard. A player to fill this spot could may be a lynden dunn type or colin garland when fit? I reckon morton could do the job but is to skinny atm. Your thoughts on the topic.

Morton has the height and skills to play at CHF, but he is still a bit sleight for the role. Possible, but he is handy to use as a utility.

We have tried Dunn there....hasn't worked.

Honestly, Watts was recruited to be a key forward player, and CHF is waiting for him if he is good enough. When fit the dees need to give him some VFL exposure, then throw him into CHF to see how he fairs. Garland is another likely type, his ability to read the play is outstanding. It has been a while since we have seen Garland fit and firing, so CHF might be a while off.

Steph Martin didn't do much up forward, but the delivery was awful. Don't write him off just yet, he is a very underrated player and could perhaps learn to play as a good CHF. Like Garland, Martin seems to be more comfortable down back.

Our forward line Is crap! We dont have one key forward.. We have some medium to small forwards that are good players but you need at least one preferably two quality big blokes that can crash a pack and take a big grab. Guys like Jurrah and Bate should be playing as the third tall allowing us to stretch the oppositions defence. We had four picks inside the top twenty last draft and couldn't manage one big bloke? Id say we'll have a top ten pick In the next draft, If we dont draft a key forward this time round we have rocks in our head.

Nah, his hands aren't good enough. plus his kicking for goal isn't great which is pretty much two of the most important things to a forward. Not a great tap ruck and not a great mark. Not great signs for a ruck either.

At least as a backman, his got speed, size and reach that he can exploit. He looked very promising as a back where his job was to counter his opposition.

If the club saw any merit in Newton as a viable forward option whatsoever, he wouldn't be on the rookie list right now.

Currently on our list there are 4 realistic CHF targets for the future. They are Bate, Watts, Morton and Garland.

Bate to me is more of a third tall, and Watts IMO will end up playing closer to goal.

Morton needs to put on a bit of size (he doesn't need to become a beef cake, contrary to popular belief, he just needs more strength in his arms and core to hold his ground) before he can be a viable forward option, but he has the marking ability, motor and height to play there.

Garland is the unknown quantity. Played as a forward in his junior years and we know he can mark and kick. Question is, do we rob the backline to enrich the forwardline?

I don't think we took Watts because of what he was, but rather what he would become. But until then, we need Newton in the forward line. Underrated and much maligned. Too bad he's a rookie now.

Lets not forget the dark horse here folks. We've been told by the powers that be that Fitzpatrick was taken more as a forward than a ruck. He's 200cm tall, very mobile and has played in the forward line at u18 level. It'll be a while, but don't be at all surprised to see him there in 4-5 years time alongside Watts, Jurrah and Bate.
