Not sure if this has it's own thread, but thought it might as well have one....

It is strongly rumoured here in Adelaide that Chris Knights is on his way back to Victoria.... He still has a year to go on his contract, but he wants out....

It has also been rumoured (here on DL) that we are having a crack at him....

Thoughts???

I personally would be very happy to pick him up...... Booming leg and quality player

Definately need to have a crack at him. Breaks the lines which we need and has great disposal and can kick goals from outside 50 which is also what we need. Go after him hard.

I think the rumour was more an "Adelaide youngster" and then subsequent suggestions/speculation/wishes that it could be Knights. Would be a massive get though.

Very good player I agree Knights but is he the type of player we need. With Wonna, Davey, Jetta, Maric, Petterd, Blease etc, do we need another goal kicking midfielder?

While when it comes to drafting players I agree the club should draft the best available, but when it comes to trading we should only be trading for players who we need.

would allow Slvia to become a fulltime midfielder, as Knights could play as the roaming HFF, therefore offsetting the loss of mclean in the middle

would rather the youngster be Patty Dangerfield, but its all just rumours at this stage

Good guess krazy jay, ill give that one to you.

Like I said, aggressive and pick 18 is not aggressive.

... but pick 11 would be. He's contracted so it'd have to be a trade. Maybe a player as a sweetner.

Good player but easy there.

He had a break out year a few years back racking up big numbers but his disposals was very ordinary. Got shunted out of the mids cause there were better disposers/players.

To his credit, reinvented himself as a hff and is devastating with his 55 bomb goals.

Def worth 18 and maybe a player but I would decline at 11.

I don't have any sources or anything, but I'd be surprised if he did want to leave. Seems to be happy and is a part of a core group of youngsters who will have success in the future.

On the afl website it said knights and Douglas to stay in Adelaide colors? something along those lines.

We will see what happens, there will be many unseen moves that will happen next week, Knights to the dees would be a nice one.

If Knights is contracted odds are he will stay unless he comes out publicly and says he wants out.

Do we need more goal kicking midfielder? In short, yes. Knights at present is a better player than all of the names you've mentioned with the exception of Davey.

His type is "good", and we always, always need more of that type.

From the crows afl page:

"Recruiting manager Matt Rendell agreed he would be an onlooker next week and with the quality of the Crows' current list and the perceived weakness of this year's draft talent pool, that's not a bad thing.

The weeks leading up to trade week have become renowned for the seemingly endless rumour mill with 'Player A' linked to 'Club B' or 'Player C' desperately homesick or disgruntled.

Knights and Douglas have somehow managed to creep into that category this year, though Rendell isn't about to test the market.

"They're both very happy where they are," he said from the NAB AFL Draft Camp in Canberra on Thursday.

"Obviously Dougy was a bit in and out this year, but he's very happy to stay and loves the joint.

"Knighter probably struggled a bit early in the season, but found his niche in the forward line where he was outstanding.

"I'm not saying other clubs aren't asking about them, but we're not letting them go because we're very happy with them."

Can never have too many goalkicking midfielders, and they win premierships.

Likewise, quality midfield/half-forwards make deep forwards look better. Perfect age (about 23) - think it would be a great fit.

Yeah, I thought I read he signed for another two years only yesterday.

But hey, Dangerfield, McKay, Knights... I'd take any one of them. And for pick 11 too, KP concerns aside.

I also have a feeling he may be staying in Radelaide....

It is worth a shot though, if there is even the slightest chance he wants to leave....

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
