DOCKERS V'S EAGLES

Who do we want to win? A win to the Eagles would ruin their chance of a PP giving them 5 wins. A Dockers win ( They have had the wood on West Coast and pride might see them trying very hard) would lift them to 4 wins. This makes our match against them at the G a 'danger' game as the Dockers would be out of contention for a PP if they beat us. Maybe a West Coast win would therefore be in our best interests. I really believe we will win only ONE more game against either Dockers or Richmond. Without the thought of tanking, I think we will manage to gain our much desired PP. Then again, did the Tigers tank today with the draw? Anyway we will know our fate very soon.

Tell me that you don't really believe that Richmond tanked yesterday ? I can't believe that you're even contemplating the thought.

West Coast don't want to win one more game, but they may beat Freo as every player on the field will be giving their all.

And the PP isn't such a big deal for Freo, as they get theirs after the first round of the draft. Whilst it would be handy, an extra pick 18, or thereabouts, isn't quite the fillip that it was in last year's super draft. Not enough to tank over. Besides, Harvey is presently coaching for his career.

So are Rawlings and Crocker.

If the Tiges really were trying to tank, the mistake they made was to get themselves so far in front. Did they forget?

Is every loss (or in this case "non-win") now going to be seen as tanking?

Interesting game this! I think that Freo will lie down to achieve two desirable results Wet Toast lose their prioirty pick and the Shockers remain on track for theirs.

I think you hit the nail right on the head. A West Coast win will give Freo first pick of the two West Australians Morabito and Lucas. They can then still beat someone (us ) hopefully and still get their boy and another pick in the second round of the draft. West Coast ran the Saints to 20 points last week and really are much better than the Dockers at the moment. Then again Woosher might drop half the rest of the team for the game.

It's intriguing. WC are tanking for sure and accidently beat Hawthorn a few weeks back. But the dual incentive Freo have to lose - first WA pick (or Scully if we win 5) and to tip WC out of the PP may just be overwhelming. Then if as probable the picks went "MFC, Freo, MFC" it's possible WC could miss out on both WA preferences depending who we like. I was tipping Freo but now I'm not sure - may be the first nil-all derby.

I hope West Coast win so they lose their priority pick and so when we play Fremantle they are on three wins and can afford to win another.

That's a very good point. I hadn't even thought of that...bit slow I am, apparently. :P

It'd be a perfect outcome. The Eagles don't really need the PP, so it would put them on 5 wins and without a priority and hopefully allow us to get our PP.

with no pav and sandilands eagles should win, its a srange game

Does anyone think it is strange to the point of being obvious but last week Kerr was out with "soreness" then this week they are claiming a stomach ailment and when asked when he could be recalled whoever it was being interviewed stumbled over the fact that it was unknown. What a joke.

I liked Grant Thomas comment tonight that Fremantle are perfectly capable of losing with Pavlich in the side.....

It was a good comment.

Part of Melbourne's problem is: who exactly do you omit from the side to make a loss that much more likely..?

In my opinion most of our better senior players are the very reason we sit so low on the ladder.

Is there any way we can recall Yze, White, Carrol, Godfrey and Grgic for the rest of the season?

Our midfield is rubbish, so no issues there.

Our inside 50 numbers are terrible too, but our forwards really do seem to be converting those opportunities now (thanks Jurrah! <_< :P).

So more than dropping players, we need to push our main forward threats into the middle, and create serious mismatches in our backline, which is where we excel.

That means Jurrah and Bate onto the wing. PJ to ruck and Jamar up forward.

Put Warnock on smaller, faster forwards, Frawley on big resting ruckman. Make both of these guys take the kick-ins.

All of these moves are perfectly legitimate and can be labeled as 'list development and experimentation', but are likely to cause us to lose. It's really about changing what happens down back that is the key, because that is our biggest strength and what keeps us from getting smashed most weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if Bailey gave Frawley a run up forward as well.

The intriguing one for me is Robbo. He is not playing well, but could easily kick a bag against crap teams like Richmond and Freo. Do we push him up the ground and play him as a defensive forward (the one thing he refuses to do), or do we drop him in what is likely his final season?

Of course on top of all that, we need to really push the guys out on the track during the week and hope for some niggles. Anyone with a cough, a cramp or a sniffle takes a week or two off. We need to hold on for the next 3 weeks, and we can then go all out and absolutely obliterate Freo. Giving us all something to smile about, plus Scully and pick 3.'

Edit: GO WEST COAST GO!!!

beating port f#cked us. end of story. Heads should roll

I don't know why I bother, but...

PA lost that game because they thought it would be a easy win.

They're an arrogant bunch of tossbags, and I have no idea why they are resigning Williams, they should get Hardwick or Viney in and smash that arrogance that permeates that team like a disease.

Anyway, they didn't turn up on the day and we might suffer for it.

But to blame anyone at the MFC for that is ludicrous.

With that said - I want to see players rested, played in new positions, and more youth against Richmond and NM.

If they do those things I want to see and we still win two more games...

That is the way it is, and ever shall be...

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
