Everyone's entitled to their opinion. I'm of the opinion that anyone who wants Frawley dropped is on drugs. ;)

We've still got it :P

High Tower, my comment was clearly intended as a joke, although it shocks me that people thought Frawley wasn't good. That they want him dropped is even more astonishing. But as you said, we're all entitled to our opinion.

I'm of the opinion, 'they've gone troppo'. Either or either.

I thought he played well enough to remain in the side. That is for sure. But I can see the other side with S.Martin. It's good that there is competition for spots down back. Clearly it was a joke, although that they want him dropped for in some cases 'Martin', has some merit, in my 'opinion'.

So whilst I lean towards Frawley at the moment, I can see both views and for the record neither party is on 'drugs'. ;)

I've got the inside word that Bruce will actually be dropped, delisted, and fired far, far out into the stratosphere from a cannon for his disgusting performance today. For anyone who wasn't there: early in the first quarter he had the ball and tried to take Swallow on, but Swallow hit him with a brilliant tackle and the ump pinged Bruce for it, but Bruce actually REFUSED to give the ball to Swallow, he kept screaming "it's not fair!" and "I hate you!" to Swallow and the umpire, and ended up actually RUNNING OFF WITH THE BALL (I think he was crying) and was never seen again for the duration of the game. This is the incident YM is referring to; I know some of you will try to make excuses for it, or even outright deny that it happened, but that's only because Bruce is the golden boy around here and you all just blindly defend him no matter what he does. Fact is, these kinds of incidents are becoming all too common with Bruce, and I'm glad Bailey's going to finally make an example of him by omitting him from the Collingwood game and executing him in draconian fashion.

With that out of the way, I actually kind of agree with the rest of Yze Magics post (seriously). Jetta should definitely keep his place. I would probably give Bennell a run at Casey to make room for Maric if he's ready; he showed all the right signs, but I'd like to see him go back and hone his craft for a couple of weeks against lesser opposition. I'm happy enough for Sylvia to come back in if he played well at Casey (I've heard mixed reports about that), but I'm not sure who should go out, so he might be unlucky. Bate and PJ were poor today and I'd almost even be tempted to drop one of them, if not for the fact that their potential replacements are Newton and Meesen, so we're just going to have to hope they come good soon (I'm confident PJ will, wouldn't like to guess with Bate). Morton was quiet, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for at least a couple more rounds. Everyone else played well enough to keep their spot for now.

So, for mine:

OUT: Bennell

IN: Maric

EDIT: Changed my mind. Sylvia to come in if Maric isn't ready.

You are born comedian mate! So you heard Bruce say, "I hate you" above the noise of the crowd did you? You must have supersonic hearing! And you saw him crying did you? This so called incident happened in the 1st quarter and he 'was never seen again for the duration of the game'. This means that Bruce had 22 possessions in the 1st quarter and none for the rest of the game! Must be some sort of record I would think. Did Bruce incur a 50 metre penalty for his 'dIsgraceful behaviour"? Don't worry, he will be cited and receive 10 weeks suspension by the tribunal. That sort of conduct is not on. Not in your supersonic eyes anyway. Gee a bloke wins our B&F and after ONE game some clowns want his blood!

Sylvia has played only half a game in Casey 2nds since being dropped and his form was far from that expected. Considering that both didn't play on Saturday for Casey

If you have a look here http://forums.demonland.com/index.php?showtopic=14001you'll find that Sylvia, according to a number of eyewitnesses, did have a run on Saturday.

Your assessment of Wona's availability seems spot on though

Jetta dropped???? Thought he did enough to hold his spot.

Doubt there will be many changes this week, not many coming back in to have selection issues this week even though a couple of players battled. Also one week is a little early to drop someone unless they played completely against Yoda's instructions ie Newts last year rnd 1.

Also I thought Morts was well below his best on Sunday, just looked lost out there which for mine was the biggest worry from the game.

Out: Spencer, Dunn

In: Martin, Sylvia

Got exposed for lack of contested marking ability - Martin and Sylvia should help remedy that situation.

Martin may provide as much of a contest in the ruck and around the ground as Spencer did, with the added benefit of providing an option forward - Look forward to seeing more of Spencer if the Martin 'pitch hit' in the Ruck experiment fails badly.

Still unconvinced by Dunn.

Liked what I saw of both Bennel and Jetta - Would like to see them on the big stage.

Bruce is on borrowed time - Bring on the youth Policy.

Considering Dunn didn't play at all on the weekend so interesting he didn't convince you.

I wasn't sure whether Morton was right on Saturday as he had a big "Chris Mew" out on the ground and just didn't seem to be running nearly as well as he can ?

I certainly agree that he looked lost.

Make that Sunday! Maybe it was me that wasn't right.

My mistake - In that case its time for Bruce to make way for the youth.

Finally someone else on Demonland has a clue.

Now I dont feel so alone!!!!

So you'd drop Spencer and ruck with a 200cm rover and would either Bennel or Jetta back him there!

Enough said about Dunn.

Out: Bennell, Jetta

So you would drop 2 small quicker players for Martin and Sylvia. Lets hope the Pies are slow.

i dont know what game of footy you were watching but Jetta was not all that great. He got chased down with a lack of awareness, not to mention kicking it on the full twice. Definitely has plenty of work to do

And where are all of those 'Morton is such a great kick' people? i sure cant see them now. i wonder what they were thinking when Morton kicked a simple 20metre pass on the full.

I dunno how many of you were at the game. But Morton runs around without an opponent for large stretches of the game and nobody passes the bloody ball to him. I try not to swear at the football because I have the kids (and the wife has taken to coming as well, which is a big surprise) but I had to let out a big one a couple of times when players wouldn't lift their eyes 30m upfield. There, I've said my piece

At last someone who watches the game that happened last year and the pre season this year, time and time again and he is overlooked mainly by the senior players I also noticed on Sunday that Jones started taking the first option in passing the ball off quickly instead of trying to barge through, Scott West might be getting through to him at last.

It was his first game FFS in an overwhelmed side.

I havent got a clue which game of footy you watch either. But you're certainly pumping yourself without much merit.

Think its really important to give every oppurtunity to youngsters by giving them 4 - 5 games and assess their performance and value in the side

Some of our senior and more experienced players really let us down in the opening round which is really baffling as you would think you would be jumping out of your skin to play after the long break

Problem was most of them were in the forwardline

Kicking 67 points just isnt good enough

Morton had a bad day also

Didnt see the casey game but i would like to see 2 changes

Martin to play CHF

Move Miller to FF

Drop Bate

Bring back Sylvia

Not sure who to drop but it wouldnt be either Jetta , Bennell Cheney or Spencer

Martin and Sylvia can give Collingwood a headache by playing

They cant by sitting in the crowd

One example out of one game is a pretty long straw to draw Freak.

Morton's first half yesterday was poor as he did not get involved in the play. His kicking aside from the one example you choose to use was elite. If we are backing up our statements with one off examples his goal off balance off one step from 45m yesterday as much negates your point but happ to back it up with stats.

Morton's disposal efficiency was 80%. There were 16 Melbourne players with worse efficiency ratings. He had the highest kick to handball ratio of any of the players above him. To me that means on paper he was our best kick yesterday. Oh thats right he must be a poor disposer because he missed ONE kick (albeit a shocker) but dont let facts get in the way of supporting your argument.

No change, only forced changes due to injury. With Petterd doing OK yesterday that will keep Sylvia out, I don't believe in the bring young players in for one game give them a taste then put them out, you need to give them at least 2 games in a row unless they are totally no where near the standard. I think the 4 guys that debut did enough to show that they can play at this level and should play in front of 60,000 on Saturday.

Thats true Doc.

okay answer me this. how many of those kicks went over 35metres? How many of those kicks did he do while under any token pressure? How many of those kicks went inside the corridor, how many of those kicks hit a target inside 50m and how many of those kicks were low, spearing, finger breaking, high risk passes that the elite so often pull off? Disposal efficiency is the most misleading stat in the game. For the kicks that Morton was attempting, uncontested, short floaters..he shouldn't be missing ANY kicks. NOT 1!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
