Colin Sylvia- Complaints, Congratulations and Comments

Watching live, I had the same impression of Bowden, but after watching a replay, he was one of the few players on the ground who used the ball effeciently. But using the ball effeciently doesn't make you a damaging player. Sylvia had a greater influence on the result of the game than Bowden.

It depends on what you would call "efficiently". Bowden played well against the tide of the game. He was terribly let down by players up the ground and around him who squandered opportunities that he had involvment in . I also like the way that Bowden was prepared to run the lines at times in a side that looked so error prone and static.

Had Richo kicked those goals then Bowden would have been a hero as he continually counterattacked particularly in the last quarter.

Sylvia played in the midfield and gathered (on the radio) 11 mostly contested possessions in the second quarter when the game was blown open. I agree about his impact because it was where the game is often won and lost. Winning contested possessions there is critical to winning a game.

is it just me but when Col plays well so does the team? Should he get his act together consistantly he will be a great player in a great team. But it is all up to him!

Todd Viney in his first few years, was very inconsistent as I remember it. Had injuries, etc.

I thought Col was terrific today..........I watched him a fair bit during the game, and he does look like he struggled to run out the game.

But some of his vision and passing to teammates was very good, and the two goals on the run were great to watch.

Would love to see more of the same in the coming weeks!

I agree, but I think it's cause is both due to years of not working hard enough at training & poor knowledge of this OP thing in the past.

Not working hard enough at training, = not yet developed enough "engine".

Not working hard enough, = a bit of a lazy attitude.

I'm very hopefull that COL will now be able to, 'get in & go for it', from here on.

If Beamer says it, then I believe it.

Brent Moloney believes teammate Colin Sylvia has turned the corner .........

I think we all just hope that it is true......

Last Sunday was the Best Game that Colin Sylvia has played for the Club. His 2nd Q was sublime. He totally imposed himself on the game. That is the sort of form i have wanted to see but thought was out of Col's reach.

That is the type of game i expect Col to aspire to play. If he does then A.) he will earn his spot in the team, B.) The team will win a few games.

I have said my bit about Colin Sylvia & it still stands. He has this season to prove himself. Next week against Adelaide will be a big Test for no 12. I wish him well. He must perform against Top opposition as i consider the Tigers to be weak upstairs. Adelaide will be tough.

His 2nd quarter was the best i've seen from him at the club, he was like a different player. Next few games are the test, he needs to back it up.

No apologies, but well done on a good game.

And I read on Demonland somewhere that Col doesn't give a toss about the club........well i think that puts that idea to bed!

Well done Col, great effort to sign up those members!

Yes. Turns out its the PM!

It was a great effort by Col. Good on Bailey for sticking up for him in front of the media.

Todays performance was again something to build on.

He looked up for it. If only he could bring it to the floor for 4.

I would try and release him on the wing - closer to the action.

You can't say he lost us the game, but he certainly didn't help us win it ;)

I'll thank him at the end of the year if this loss brings us Butcher and Scully :D

I thought Pick No 5 was worse than Pick No 3 today.

Not even close.

McLean was good in the trenches and worked extremely hard to get into space. His disposal was hit and miss, but at least he got the ball. Sylvia had 4 touches at half time.

There is no comparison between the two. One has plenty of runs on the board, the other takes a couple of good marks a game and then falls asleep.

I'm beginning to feel like Bruce and McLean have injunctions on them. McLean called for the ball in the forward line a couple of times then didn't present, he couldn't chase down Josh Kennedy, I thought he was poor, but YMMV.

Sylvia had far more influence than McLean. Your posts regarding Sylvia have become tiresome.

There is definitely something going on with McLean.

He is either lacking fitness due to an incomplete pre-season, or is carrying an injury.

It's not possible that at his age, he has gotten suddenly really slow and really poor at kicking the ball.

I wish Sylvia would get more involved in the game, because he will do a couple of brilliant things and then disappear for minutes on end. It's a shame because the talent is not lacking, but he just gets lost out there.

You would hope so with McLean. Its not that he has gotten slow, he always has been. The game has got quicker and opposition sides are exploiting his lack of pace.

The fact Sylvia gets lost out there mitigates the "talent" people talk of.
