Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

2015 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch

Aish has a couple of years in the system and is already showing he can withstand the AFL game. Parish is unproven at AFL level

Toumpas has a couple of years ahead of Aish but you compared parish to him.. FMD your a lightweight!

Of course they are unproven thanks for pointing that out captain obvious. But compare Parish and Aish's both on their style at 18 and Parish hits the contest harder and has a good mix of inside and outside. Aish is an outsider and is soft. Plain and simple mate.

I just find it hilarious you are already writing off Parish when you have CLEARLY not watched Parish play.

Forget about Parish, Essendon are blatantly tanking at team selection to secure him in a very shallow draft. This year's best KPPs are locked into Brisbane, Carlton and Gold Coast, and the best midfielders are predictably gifted to Sydney and GWS via their Academies. All teams will slide even further if the AFL gift Brisbane a priority pick, which would be a total farce on the AFL's behalf (thus it will almost definitely happen). Win another game or two and we might be looking at pick #7.

Focus your energy on the hopefully likely outcome that we trade our first rounder for Prestia.

I have a feeling that Melbourne will finish ahead of St. Kilda by year's end and get pick 8 which it might well finish up trading.

Based on what I've seen of the two, I'd have Bonner ahead of Tucker as far as playmaking half backs go.

That said, if we take the pick (which should end up being pick 6) to the draft, I could see us taking Balic if Parish off the board.

Interesting that Kieran Lovell has moved up to a late first rounder here. Did Future Stars focus on Div 2 prospects this week?

I like Bonner from the little I have seen. He's a good size and looks to be a good kick. Still most pundits seem to think he is a mid-teen selection.

Fringes of the 10 are probably about right for him.

I suspect he suffers a little bit from not being a TAC Cup participant, and there's a little bit of 'out of sight out of mind' with him.

Athletically he is very good, and he also kicks well off both feet. How high he goes prob depends on whether a club is desperate for that Kolodjashnij type this year. Strong testing at the combine helped KK, may do the same for Bonner.

Milera is another who I'd take ahead of where he's generally rated.

Edit: Also worth noting that the inclusion of the academy players in the rankings skews where players sit as well.

I expect Mills, Hopper, Kennedy, Keays and Hipwood to be unavailable, so the rankings of players available in an open draft changes if you take them out.

The best available 10 could look something like this if you subtract the Academy tied players:

1. Jacob WEITERING

2. Josh SCHACHE

5 Aaron FRANCIS

6. Darcy PARISH

7. Charlie CURNOW

10. Harry McKAY

11. Rhys MATHIESON

12. Ryan BURTON

13. Sam WEIDEMAN

14. Riley BONNER

Harley Balic out for the rest of the season with a wrist injury.

Sandy are quickly falling out of finals contention, but it would have been nice to see Balic a few more times before the draft.

Could well be in contention for our pick if Parish is off the board (and if we take our first pick to the draft).

What position is Parish? Is he any good?

What position is Parish? Is he any good?

He's a midfielder who can win his own ball, also possessing good spread and skills on the outside. Rhys Mathieson and Parish are the best midfielders (non-academy) in this draft, with Mathieson the better natural ball winner but Parish having slightly more polish at this stage. Both country lads who should be around the mark when we call out our first name. Darcy Tucker will also be right in contention as well. He suited up for North Ballarat in the VFL on the weekend and looked right at home. His composure and kicking were a class above for a kid of his age.

Sounds like we'll still have access to the 3rd/4th best midfielder if we take our pick to the draft. DeGoey, Lever and Cockatoo were right in line behind Brayshaw if we'd secured that extra first rounder, but history's history. I've got a special feeling about Trengove and our club's next chapter in 2016.

There were plenty of second round steals last year, too. I'm gutted we couldn't find a way to get Touk Miller; his talent was obvious a mile off, but getting Nibbler, O-Mac and Frost wasn't a bad return at all.

Assume no trades, here is my likely picks ...

Get 1st round - Darcy Parish, Darcy Tucker, Rhys Mathieson or Harley Balic (all mids)

Get 2nd round - Luke Partington or Jake Gresham (small mids), Mitch Hibberd or Brandon White (rebounding half backs)

Get 3rd round - Dylan Smith (big forward from WA who can ruck or stay as a key forward) or Callum Moore (big CHF from Calder... potential untapped)

Get 4th round - Yestin Eades, Blake Hardwick, Ben Crocker or Aidyn Johnson (mid/sml goalkicking fwds)

after watching our slow, B grade midfield in action once again, I say it's midfielders with genuine pace and then more midfielders with genuine pace.

I think we have to say for the next couple of drafts, we will only consider players with genuine pace who can kick the footy.

There aren't any this draft so what do we do?

Haven't had a good look at this years crop but from what I've seen I think Balic might have a pretty fair upside.

has all the hallmarks of being james strauss mk 2. maybe harrison wigg too.

an underage half-back flanker who was expected to go into the midfield in his senior tac cup year, didn't, and now is being seen as a permanent rebounding half-back flanker.

I think guru Bob once said, "players with long necks play shorter than they are". Or did I make that up?

I liked Shuey. I liked Wines. I liked Greenwood. I lliked Brayshaw and Petracca. Tough kids.

Not Grgic, Morton, Toumpas types.

TUCKER is a ready made mid. Remember Joel Selwood. Great as an underager. Poor under 18 year so drafted at pick 7... the rest is history.

So you liked a bunch of obviously good players, and some ordinary ones. Great.

Tucker isn't even a mid, let alone ready made.

And Selwood was drafted later due to repeated issues with dodgy knees during juniors, not because of a lack of form.

His top age form was good when he played.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
