Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Updating the MFC website?

Nice to see an article on the Club website about Tom McDonald yet disappointing that the Club never updates player's statistics under drafting them. The article tells of Tom's endeavour to put on more weight over the pre-season and says how he is currently 96kg, yet if you go to the 'player profiles' the Club has him at 88kg. Surely, it is not too much to keep these periodically updated for members!

I remember asking Watts once how tall he was and had he grown since he was drafted. He said he didn't know. The Club only measures these things about once a year. Once they are recruited it is kind of irrelevant....

I think you'll find that once the list has been settled after the National draft and/or preseason draft you'll find these details will be updated prior to the start of next season.

I think the club have better things to do than letting supporters (and the opposition) that some players have put on a few kilo's here or there during the season.

Sometimes I think some of us are like a high maintenance girlfriend.

When all of the players are here, team photos are done and height / weight measurements are done....the list will be updated

Hard to get Dawes' height / weight / photo when he's not even at the club....

EDIT: lucky you're not an Essendon Supporter, you'd be going insane

They don't even have Goddard listed in their team listing, and still list all the delisted players

It is basically consistency that I was getting at, with Max Gawn listed as both 206cm and 208cm at different parts of the same website.

How about the MFC keeping their website up-to-date with the new draft picks and players numbers? It is five days since the draft and more since the trading period yet we have no information posted on the draft picks and only the bare minimum on the trades, let alone Grimes & Co's new numbers. Lift your game Melbourne!

Have you had a good look at the website since the draft? There's video footage of all of them.,Br />

I dare say the players numbers haven't been officially announced yet?

After all, the new draftees arrived today for their first training.

One poster asked Todd Viney what number is Jack wearing and got the inside scoop of no.7. On another thread.

They seem to lag a bit behind other clubs wrt updating the player list but their general website content is quite good and timely IMO.

As far as Clubs websites go it is somewhere between Average and Good IMO.

All club web sites are basically very political, just pushing the club / league line.

Good for facts but don't expect too much that is insightful.

I do think though that it is slow in some areas compared to some other clubs.

May well be the result of low staff numbers or are we dependant on the AFL / Telstra to do some of the work.

Nett result, not the worst going around.

I realise that there have been videos posted however I cannot seem to open them for some reason (maybe gremlins in my computer?). The point I was only trying to make is why not put what information that you have on hand in the way of statistics up straight away even if you update it daily it shouldn't be a major hassle. The Players list is consolidated and it is easier to refer to that to find Jack Grimes is No. 31 (rather than have to trawl through news items).

Your initial remark about "How about the MFC website update us with info..." - it's not their fault they update it and you cannot open the links. So I wouldn't be sledging the club in this case.

Are you suggesting that they have "other things" on their mind...like Gestapo or Starzi type "investigations"?

But seriously, even when the season is up and running, the sites are pretty ordinary in informing supporters and members about who is where doing what.

Every year the same question arises, so here is the answer:

With the exception of Essendon, every AFL club site is controlled and managed by Telstra.

Telstra provides a limited amout of upload to each club each day. If the club want to upload extra, then they have to pay exorbitant amounts to Telstra to do it.

Every other club is trying to get their uploads done at the same time. And being in a monopoly position, Telstra don't provide much in the way of resources to do it. We sit in the queue with everyone else, so we have to be smart about what we put up, and with what priority.

If things are happening as far as Club news is concerned ( like Trade week or the Draft ), then uploads of new players video is of higher importance than player weights and heights. Be assurred that when things quieten down later in the year, the information will get put up.

But don't blame the club. Just move your phone services to someone who cares......

At least my calls don't constantly fail and the internet works great.

Guys

I don't think it helpful to blame my computer because the Melbourne Football Club does not update their site with either player numbers, selections or statistics. All of us are aware of whom we have drafted etc but potential members may not be and it is amazing that people can blame Telstra charges for a reason that our Club is too inept to keep their website up-to-date. If we have enough data to keep posting 'News' updates then why cannot we keep our website current?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
