  1. HOGAN LOCKED IN UNTIL END OF 2019 Delighted he has signed on. Will take a lot of pressure off him and I'm sure we will see him fulfill his potential to be a champ, in the red and the blue! Thanks Jesse! Jesse's comments: “What excites me about Melbourne is the young talent we’ve got. We feel like we are building something special and that’s something I want to be a part of...“Goody (Simon Goodwin) has been great; we’ve got a really close relationship and I think he is going to be great for me personally next year and the rest of the boys as well". Thanks Goody!

  2. wow you would think a former captain and great player of our club would get some respect I personally wish him a quick recovery and hope he makes it back to work

  3. Club has managed this superbly. For this to not get out, given the level of speculation, is remarkable. I've had a lot of mail about Hogan in the last month. but it was wildly conflicting and not worth sharing, other than the 5 years or eff off now yarn. Even that I only posted because the source was impeccable. Clearly he signed for less time than what was on the table. But signs of a rock solid club not sweating under the spotlight.

  6. Those who said he was gone... you were wrong Those who questioned his commitment to the club... you were wrong Those who personally attacked a young mans character and loyalty while he was/is dealing with a reportedly terminally ill parent, I hope you feel good about yourself. It was pathetic. Good onya Jesse. Let's win flags now.

  11. Amazing news. Yeah, a 4 year deal would have been better, but he is playing for us for the next 3 years and we can now focus on becoming a consistent footy side that plays finals. Bloody brilliant stuff, couldn't be happier. America de Cali will be very disappointed. What a shame.

  12. Mahoney on SEN this morning, (paraphrasing): Club confident Jesse would want to stay, despite recent speculation No ultimatum ever put to Jesse Think Hogan and Weideman can be a lynch pin for us for years to come Hogan, in his exit interview, was very disappointed with his last 5 weeks and keen to have a big 2017 Good to see all the rubbish written about an 'ultimatum' put to bed!

  14. “Obviously a lot has been made of me being a Perth boy, but the Club has been great in allowing me to head home when I can and that’s something that’s made my decision much easier. They’ve been really good with my situation and something that I am really appreciative of.”

  18. Thanks for signing on Jesse. Thanks for doing it quick and not stressing me out over the offseason. Thanks for not being a Tom Scully. Thanks for your 80 odd goals in two years. Thanks for your excellent work up the ground. Thanks for being a beast. Thanks again for sticking with us. Thanks for having the good sense to choose to run out at the 'G' as your home ground. Light up the G Jesse. Thanks for being a great player. Your critics are [censored] heads. Your footballing instinct is right up there. Thanks for marking all those forward fifty entries that Jack Watts laid onto you and allowing him to be the super talented player he is. Thank you for seemingly ignoring all the unsupportive and unnecessary negativity from one of our favourite sons in Schwartz. Thanks for making my $#cking day!

  20. Depression is a massive issue for men in this country and it's only getting worse. Some of the attitudes shown here are why.

  21. Mahoney on SEN this morning (paraphrasing): Focus in recent years to go to the draft, especially midfielders. Now have a sound midfield Focus is defence - Melksham and Hibberd will be good experience. We are also looking to get a ruck/forward Dunn indicated frustrated at not getting a senior game and will look at opportunities. So will trade if he finds another club. Dawes' future depends on results of trade week. We won't be as active in the trade period this year. Re Hibbered: might be our pick 26 but it could involve other picks/players The Hibberd trade looks a bit cryptic - wonder what that deal might look like. The interview clarifies a few things being thrown around in the media and speculation sites. Good to hear it from the 'horse's mouth', so to speak.

  22. 2 extra years is good for the club. It will then know just how good he is, rather than be paying long, big contract, largely on promise.

  25. It's that time of year again when we thank all those who have contributed to Demonland during the past season and all those who post here or simply visit and read without posting. We value your contributions and ongoing support - especially to Nasher who keeps us going on the technical side, to our moderators whose task is often thankless. Surprisingly, even when our team improves as it has this year, their job is still no more easy. Special thanks to our regular contributors, Whispering Jack, George on The Outer, The Oracle, JVM, KC from Casey and all others who have provided us with material and articles. We hope the Bulldogs' great win yesterday will prove an inspiration top our young team and that 2017 will be the year that we finally break through that ceiling and experience a taste of finals football. As the Doggies proved, once you're there, anything can happen. We also look forward to the inaugural women's competition and hope a finals appearance there will be a prelude for later in the year. As always, we are on the look out for new contributors who have something to say about the mighty Demons. If you have the talent or simply want something to say about the club in articlae form, please contact me via PM. Cheers, thanks again and keep your eye on the red and the blue. Andy

  26. I really liked his honesty in that interview. Happily admitted that, at one stage, he was 50/50 about where he wanted to play his footy which is totally understandable. He came over to Melbourne at 17 and I'm sure the lure to be home with family and friends would be strong. However, it seems he has a great relationship with Goody and McCartney and we've created a great environment to play football in. In the end it seems that the club has put all the right things in place and that made his decision much, much easier. Well done to the club and it's bloody super to have Jesse on board for at least another 3 years!

  27. Yeah there are a few around here who don't get it. I wrote a post a while back in response to a poster who didn't get it, and it was well liked by a lot of demonlanders, I think most of this community is actually in the right place regarding this issue, with only a few stragglers: I disagree that it's getting worse. My experience as been that overall, society's getting better at it. A few loud voices on some internet forums does not a majority make. Just look at this thread. No one's having a go at Lyon because of his condition, just some non-favourable remarks mostly to do with his media performance. Edit: just saw in that Mitch Clark thread that you responded to my post back then Stuie! I probably didn't need to relink.

  34. I know others have said it, but what a different club we have become. The dogs have already shown that losers can become winners. Now for the Dee's. In real terms this signing is incredibly significant in the message it sends out to supporters, players and the football world. And the ratbags who can't resist having a go at the club.

  35. I'm producing a series on men's depression. 1 in 8 men will suffer from depression and 1 in 5 men will experience anxiety at some point in their lives. Depression is the leading cause of death in men under 54 in Australia. Massive issue and we need to talk about it.

  43. Or you could say something like: "Great news for the club I love! This guy is a massive part of our future and I'm excited by our young group." You know, rather than focusing on other people on Demonland...

  44. I wouldn't blame Beveridge or the players, but overly keen and poor organisation by the club. Just silly to have such an event a few days after the game. To bag the coach or the players after that incredible match is unreasonable. Just an overly enthusiastic club administration who did not think it through.

  45. First flag for 62 years. I reckon anyone in Ballarat who expected all of them to show was delusional. A bunch of young thickheads with a shiny new cup to drink from. Was always going to happen. Epic fail from whoever planned it.
