  1. Tyson was brilliant. What a complete game. 32 touches, 2 goals and 7 tackles.

  2. Blease and Tapscott did exactly what they have always done. They did not do much but Tapscott had one moment where he played with elite hardness and Blease had one moment that showed elite pace. We then hang onto these moments thinking they can consistently use these facets and become good players ignoring they were but moments of the game.

  3. When the team is playing well, Jack can get the ball from them. When Jack has the ball, good things happen.

  4. I thought we'd lose by 10 goals today: Port overdue for a win, our midfield depth/options severely lacking, Adelaide Oval, The Dom Cassisi factor, our form in recent weeks etc. BUT - we genuinely deserved to win that game. Some of the umpiring decisions were bordering on criminal. At key moments in the game too. I was genuinely surprised with, and proud of, the Dees today. Very unlucky. They deserved it. That said, I've no doubt some absolute numbskull here will suggest otherwise.

  5. Yze had his faults, but I would kill for Watts to be half the player Yze was at his prime.

  6. Gutted... Tyson was just awesome and after watching Lenny Hayes highlights yesterday I think we may have our own version. N Jones needs to stop thinking he can do it all, he is a cog in the machine Vince is hurting with the hard tag Watts was MIA in the first half but it was no coincidence that we started to turn around in the 3rd as he started to influence the game, need more of that 3rd qtr more often. Dawes has planks for hands and needs to stop leading to a place with 2 extra opposition backs Frawley's kicking wouldn't be out of place on a rugby field with guys flying for the high ball but his lead up work was good Jamar has been enormous for us this season and had another good game against a solid ruck Kent & JKH give us some spark and danger in the fwdline while a lease should be given a couple more games to get into the speed of afl McDonald, Grimes and surprisingly Garland all make me hold my breath with the ball in hand Pedersen just keeps working which is great to see but needs to be more damaging Reily & Tappy, I liked both their games in parts and both show positive signs and Nev Jetta has started to become one of the best small backs we have had since Wheelan. While I'm gutted at the result and the influence of the umpires, I am very pleased to see the boys respond to the Geelong game in such a way but we need to start winning some of these close ones

  7. 6 losses under 20 points Frustrating but a decent indicator of improvement

  8. I'm fuming ..... and not because my team let another close one slip. Both teams made plenty of errors, but not as many as the idiots who were supposed to be controlling the game. 90% of line-ball decisions went against us, and they are supposed not to be influenced by crowd noise. Total and utter bulldust!!

  9. It's was pleasing to see JKH and Blease back. They make us look much more threatening than the vanilla duo of Matt Jones and Terlich. Good selections this week.

  10. I propse an Umpire review panel, I'm not blaming them for our loss mind you, we have dumb enough players to manage that on their own, but I'm fed up to the gills with poor umpiring, this year has been just out of this world in terms of how far backwards its gone. Players are held up to incredibly high scrutiny, umpires shouldn't be exempt. They should have a points system for blatent errors and suspesions for those that have too many points as well as carry over points. Make the maggots accountable!

  11. Dawes is a hard working forward who is good one on one. He isn't the pea, but he's a lion hearted player who will push up to the ball time after time to provide a target when there isn't anything else on. As a result, most of Dawes' good work goes unnoticed, because making a contest doesn't get a stat or glory. Once you put Hogan in there, Dawes will start to get more one on one opportunities.

  12. I thought Dawes marked well today when he only had one opponent. Looked a lot better with his hands than he has in the last few weeks. Dawes should benefit immensely from Hogan being in the side. Not having two players on him most of the time should help to improve his form a bit.

  14. A decent side would've thrashed Port today. They were awful. Unfortunately the stupid decisions continue to cost us especially in the attacking half. We should've won this game, plain and simple. Two main team positives were the tackling (which was as good as we've seen this season) and the quick hands to get ourselves out of trouble. One major individual positive was Garland's game. It's taken a while but he just might be getting back into form. Jetta has been a revelation, nothing short of it. Tyson has the makings of our next genuine star. JKH makes us a better side with his willingness to move the ball on quickly. Watts had a game of two halves. He and Howe are the conundrum. What is their best position? Watts behind the ball changed the complexion of the game. Blease and Tappy worked themselves into it and should see out the season. Personally I think they are worth persisting with. Blease more than Tappy. Grimes is going to be the death of me.

  16. I thought the Grimes kick was a high degree of difficulty kick, in a situation that required the risk, that was errant by a centimetre. Some will rue that, some will rue the Jones cockup or the Dawes pass to nobody. I rue the 20 minute patch where they got 5 goals out. Again. We're so, so close, but still walking away with an L to our form. Such a flattening feeling.

  17. Neville Jetta is fast becoming a favourite. The speed today's game is played at make agility and keeping your feet hugely important, and Nev's agility and ability to keep his feet is first class, and he uses the ball well. Actually makes me wonder why he hasn't been more successful in the earlier part of his career.

  18. If you were new to watching us you'd think Jetta has been running the show for years. What a stellar season he's having. Tyson and Dunn also excellent. Jones found some touch but that blunder was as bad as Dawes' (who needs another tall next to him, who'd have been there for that ball) and Grimes... How predictable, I called out on the full before he even went to kick it. I think Kent is a good choice as the sub, just would've removed Tapscott rather than Pigdog. We miss Cross. And we miss too many shots at goal. I feel flat after a terrific effort.

  21. Umps cost us at least 5 goals. The commentators are so gutless for not pointing it out. How was the HTB against Viney in the first qtr? I'm going to make a highlights video of this game and point out all the garbage. Grimes should be beheaded Had a gutfull of Dawes, he gets about 3 touches a game and then fluffs simple set shots with them Watts what in the name of God is wrong with this bloke's head? He can play an absolute blinder of a qtr and do zero for the other 3 Massive error having Kent as the sub That's SIX losses by 20 points or less, had we won them all we'd be 6th on the ladder. FMD.

  22. All teams will say umps cost them or were against them, we see things from our teams perspective. We lost the game, not the umps, not port. Jones, stupid, stupid, stupid. Dawes, stupid kick. Grimes, dear god your kicking is woeful.

  23. As much as Jack Grimes cost us the chance to get back in front, we were ALREADY behind when he stuffed up....courtesy of Nathan Jones Why would you ever play on with half the opposition team around you when your teammate has won you a free kick in the final two minutes of the game?

  24. You owe us one Chris Dawes, stupid kick to no one, cost us the game. Grimes's kick wasn't typical Grimes

  25. (Disclaimer: no offence is intended by the below. Just a bit of tongue in cheek to round off the week) Q: What colour is the sky? old dee: The sky is still blue after all this time will it ever change? i'll believe it when I see it rpfc: The sky might be blue right now, but it is naive to expect this is going to change overnight. We must accept that while others have a starry night sky, or a red dusk, or a pink dawn, our sky is blue, and it will remain blue until some significant changes to the way in which the air scatters the sunlight are made. These changes will take time. Ron Burgundy: The sky is the best thing that has happened to us in a long time. I have total faith in it. I love the sky. Satyriconhome: actually chap, I know where the sky is at and so does God. In fact when my lovely lady and I were talking to God the other day we spoke about the sky. I just like to entertain myself on here with all you keyboard heroes who think you know the sky better than God and I. WYL: it's still blue and it's still falling. When are we going to see change? How much longer are we going to put up with this incompetent sky? Webber: I thought I'd correct some of the statements being made in here regarding the sky's colour which are just plain incorrect. Except for light that comes directly from the sun, most of the light in the day sky is caused by scattering, which is dominated by a small-particle limit called Rayleigh Scattering. The scattering due to molecule sized particles (as in air) is greater in the forward and backward directions than it is in the lateral direction. Scattering is significant for light at all visible wavelengths, but it is stronger at the shorter (bluer) end of the visible spectrum; meaning that that the scattered light is more blue than its source, the sun. The sky can turn a multitude of colors such as red, orange, purple and yellow (especially near sunset or sunrise) when the light must pass through a much longer path (or optical depth) through the atmosphere. Scattering effects also partially polarize light from the sky, most pronounced at an angle 90° from the sun. Scattered light from the horizon travels through as much as 38 times the atmosphere as light from the zenith, causing it to lose blue components, causing a blue gradient: vivid at the zenith, and pale near the horizon. Because red light also scatters if there is enough air in between the source and the observer, these longer wavelengths of light will also scatter significantly, making parts of the sky change color during sunset. ENYAW: why does the sky do what it did? It just hangs there? I watch and think the sky, is not what it was 10 years ago. get the clouds to move to a different part of the sky ? dee-luded: the sky, forever changing, never constant. maybe someone else wants to offer up a bigger sacrifice to the sky?? just a thought Bitter but optimistic: bugger the sky I say! Who needs the sky when there is alcohol and women to consume! hogans heroes: The sky is pathetic. The clouds are hopeless and the sun is a loser. I hope the sky burns in hell for what it has done (three weeks later) The sky is absolutely beautiful. Redleg: The sky is still blue after all these years and it's about time we stood up to God and told him to change it. picket fence: The sky is blue but the clouds aren't puffy enough! Plus we need more rainbows! I propose we switch some clouds for rainbows! Just my view! rjay: That is an interesting question that you pose 'P-Man'. I think it is blue but I also think it can be a variety of other colours that we don't get to see as often. Machsy: Are you serious? How can you not know that? That is just about the stupidest question I've ever been asked. The sky? Seriously?? Jumbo returns: The sky is still blue and I am very skeptical of this God fella. I will wait to see what he does to change the colour of the sky before I sing his praises. Jaded: I stood underneath the sky yesterday while it rained. I stood there, wondering why I bother watching it while it pours down. But I'll be there again next week. Standing underneath it. Hoping it won't rain. Ben Hur: I could explain it to you but you wouldn't understand.

  27. He could've put it 5 metres to the front, other side or over the back of Tyson and he would've marked it. That is a massive target that our captain missed by 1cm. You're giving him a pass for an absolutely shocking and costly basic skill error. What's worse is we would've had overlap run, and from memory commentators mentioned men on down the field. It was a coach, teammate and supporter killer.

  28. Notice that Port were very good at manning up when we hit the lead so we couldn't ice it. Puts pressure on each man. Then when they got the lead back we failed to pick up their guys and they chewed up valuable time. That's composure, and we lack it.

  36. And I don't mean to play the broken record but jeez, we were absolutely bent over by the umpires today, particularly in that last quarter. The amount of times a Port player was paid a free for some sort of indiscretion and then we were denied a free for the same thing moments later was laughable.

  37. Jetta has overtaken him as our premier small defender.

  38. I know wins are paramount but so many positives out of the day. Jetta - not many better small defenders at the moment, Garlands return to form, Riley's tackling, Kents last quarter, Jamar in the ruck, Tysons a star, Viney is coming along nicely, Dunn is a general down back, Tom McDonald will be a fine key defender, Blease showed a bit. On the debit Grimes continues to frustrate, Dawes doesn't do enough and Watts needs to play more quarters like his third. Need to try for Cameron or Patton. They showed effort and resilience after a really poor second quarter and seem to understand the game plan.

  39. Had to go for a run to let of some steam... Given the tragedy that occurred only a few days ago, losing a game of football doesn't even compare... We must look at the bigger picture for this football club, we have taken it up to port twice this year and shown glimpses against other top sides. We just as roos says every week, learn how to play 120 minutes of football... A half last week against the cats, 1 & a half qrts against the dogs, a half against essendon, 20 minutes today. This side will learn how to play a full 4 qrts. Loses like this will reiterate that message.. If we won today maybe they don't realise you cant go to sleep for 20 minutes and still win a game of football. 6 losses under 20 points, we are on the right track. Give us another 12 months and those close losses turn to wins and were a side challenging for the 8

  40. Jetta and Garland were fantastic in defence too.

  41. Watts proved today why he is one of the most talked about and most frustrating player in the league. I would play him half back for the rest of the year. It is clearly his best position and we look so much better for it. Playing there he is forced to be actively engaged and he is better for it. Worst thing that happens is he gets negated by a defensive forward.

  44. I am not a McKenzie (DE62.5%) fan but his job is to quell Boak and he is doing this well. Viney's (DE45.5%) and Tysons (DE57.1%) jobs are to win contested ball and create. Is the right one being criticised here?
