  6. Amphetamines (speed, crank, meth, etc) are performance enhancing. If you get caught taking them on match days you will cop a suspension the same as steroids. How much was the West Coast Illeagles' performance enhanced? Was it enhanced? Well, compare two hypothetical teams: the Dirties and the Cleans. The Cleans spend their post-season holidays (when you are not allowed to be tested) sitting on a beach in Bali, sucking cans and Bundies, getting rat-faced and losing all fitness. The Dirties go to Vegas, don't touch a drop of booze but snort kilograms of powder and assorted chemicals, and to try and wind down, go for long runs and pump iron in the Gym. The Cleans come back and take two months to get their acts together, while the Dirties come back and everyone is amazed at how quickly they reach peak fitness, and how cut they all look. The following season the Cleans fade, experience a disappointing finals campaign and finish 7th. The Dirties, on the back of an amazing strength & running capacity win a "memorable" grand final against a fierce rival and take home the premiership cup. Quod erat Demon-strandum.

  8. There's no guarantee anywhere. I think you are correct to say if we were to trade we would need to trade something of value. So many supporters of all clubs seem to think they can trade their unwanted players for gold, you hear that rubbish all over the radio talk back around trade time. I think in the past we have held on to players who had good trade value that I personally would have liked to move on, I know you feel that with Watts. I don't feel the same way, I think he has something to offer and is still a developing KPP with a lot of upside, he is about to turn 21 in March. To trade a Watts for a Martin just doesn't stack up for me. If you look at the Carlton swap (Judd/Kennedy) they were getting a senior player with leadership to captain their club. That has taken them so far but it may not surprise that they really miss a key forward to take them that bit further, Kennedy. As you point our in your posts, you can't have it all. I would rather have Watts and you a mid, it's just a matter of opinion. I believe we are not in as bad a position with our midfield as others but this year will tell the tale. New coach, better organised midfield group hopefully working as a unit, another year under the belt for the younger players. This season will tell the tale.

  9. lol, let's just see if this is actually 2 weeks or an 'MFC-fortnight' which is usually a couple of months 32 games in 3 years, yes let's give him the captaincy shall we, nevermind the fact he appears to be made of crepe paper oh well at least we have the good old 'interrupted pre-season' disclaimer if he has a disappointing year ah Melbourne, our motto should be 'stuffing things up since 1965'

  11. Interesting term that. Football is a very emotional issue for most on here so I guess that during the course of the year we can expect a lot of it. Over the years the MFC and it's supporters have copped more crap than probably all the other clubs combined and I would guess that most on here would agree that enough is enough, so if some want to wring their hands over this latest outburst I don't really blame them; do you? We could just sit back with our hands in our laps, but that would be more like the expected response from the [censored] weak MFC supporters.

  15. I like Rhino's posts. He is good at holding you and me to account for what we say. He is a good "crap" detector ... which was a term coined by Neil Postman way back in the late 1960s. Postman's main sources of "crap" were pomposity, fanaticism, superstition and inanity. In this internet age, where we tend to write instantaneously without thinking, a lot of us could do worse than using it. I noticed Neeld's response to Eddie McGuire: "I don’t know if it’s been blown out of proportion, because I don’t know about Eddie’s comments,” he said. “Eddie is very passionate about Collingwood, and he was great and fantastic to me while I worked at Collingwood. And our guys are passionate about Melbourne, and that’s the way it goes. “If there are positions that need to be filled at clubs and people want those positions, then that’s the way it goes. “Every industry is filled with people who are at certain levels in companies and then move companies to get to a higher level, and I don’t think that’s unique to the footy world.” No "crap" there, and a better response than getting all offended and wringing hands (in my opinion).

  23. We're all big and ugly and I'm sure we can all take care of ourselves, that's not the point. Point is the other moderators do a great job, they speak their mind, they're even smart arses from time to time, but none of them are as antagonistic, abrasive or single minded in harassing or at least trying to belittle certain posters. It's not hard to change your ways on a forum, you have from now til death to decide weather or not to hit the enter button. A moderator should make sure he's keeping the right standard before he/she hits enter.

  24. Bully him back and suddenly post start going missing and there's a knock on your pm door. You don't see that as unfair? Anyway, the responses thus far have shown that there is a problem. This isn't a witch hunt, it's just about having a better forum.

  25. SEN reported that they are fairly confident it is not a dislocated or broken shoulder/collarbone so hopefully just a stinger, he is due for some luck!

  27. Yes, please cover yourself by attacking me semantically. You're unhappy we don't have a FOJ sponsor? I would never have guessed from the consistent, almost daily updates of Schwab's failure that you have given us. And My HWFUA Support ©, another diversion and cover, is relevant how? Because I defended a Demon and had the audacity to believe in the righteousness of a 20 year old simpleton? As for the Bailey remark, I have no idea where you are getting that from, I started a KPI thread that vividly illustrated the epic failure that was 2011. I always find it funny when charged with 'shouting people down' that those that make the charge partake in exactly the dastardly act that I am supposedly guilty of. I mean, this thread is full of you 'shouting down' those that want to believe Schwab and CC and co.

  29. Having done 5 shoulder dislocations in my footy so far.. only 22 .. it doesnt look like a dislocation more just a stinger or a sublax. Sublax shouldnt be more then a few weeks, all it is when he hit the ground the shoulder would have moved in the socket a bit and goes a stiff and you can't lift your shoulder above your head. I would be very suprised if the physio was doing that on the ground if he actually dislocated it or broke the collar bone. The collar bone break normally sticks out and they would know right away. I am thinking this was just a minor impact injury and afl.com.au getting all up and about cause they had people there watching training. If I am right, expect him back for round 1 at the latest.

  33. Well i thought this post was a joke. I try hard not to get upset but im sorry this is bad we just lost a number 1 draft pick who we put 2 years of training into only to have him stolen and now you want to throw away another really ? We already have put 3 years in with this kid as a number 1 pick as a tall forward who all good judges no take time and he has elite skills and a great footy brain james hird like and to solve our mid problem you say trade him he is only potential im really amazed at this comment lets solve a problem by making another problem this kid will be a MFC champion and if you ever want to trade for a gun mid we have 40 other players and 2 compo picks but not our last number 1 pick please if you dont like watts or cant see he is a keeper just wait another 12-18 months and talk to me. And yes i would love pendlebury but not for the 2008 number 1 draft pick. some watts bashers will eat there words very soon.

  34. Yet you think the other clubs are mugs willing to trade for someone who may be great. Why don't we keep Watts and offer them magic beans, seeing as we are talking fairy tale here. Lol cheers for the laughs

  36. Exactly why I think Gys will be an A grader. A pure midfielder with massive footy IQ. Despite his short comings with natural fitness and body strength. He is almost a project midfielder. Given time he will dominate consistently. The cameos have been exciting so far
    1 point
  37. Does no one think beamer can step it up and become A grade this year i really think its a chance with someone like magner around the ball helping to protect were the ball will fall and choping out with shepards i think it is a chance he is coming into his prime years

  38. When you look at Geelongs 2011 premiership side, their midfield has some phenomenal players, Barlet, Selwood, but also alot of just big bodied hard nuts in Ling, Chapman, etc I would prefer to have a midfield like that, say we have a Trengove-Viney as the brownlow vote getters surrounded by hard, strong, skilled mids around them in Mckenzie, Gysberts, Bail, Nicholson etc etc etc etc etc etc etc also, rewatched the Gold Coast game on the ol' IQ- Tynan is a natural and i back him to be one of our guns very soon

  40. Give it a rest Rhino, i really do not care what you think. With you it is just an ongoing attack. Worsfold would have known what was going on. Whether he put the white coat on and had his own shop is irrelevent to all but you. He would have known what was going on...why? Because he was qualified in that area. He would have known also he had a finite time before the sh!t hit the fan.

  41. I'd be more concerned about the 2 flags they won in the 90's. That side had bodybuilders all over the field , made the rest of the league look small . Having said that , watching Cousins "Gut run" up and down the field during the last qr of the 2006 GF was ... Interesting .

  42. I don't know what your problem is; McGuire disrespects the MFC, posters on a MFC supporter board get upset, as they should, and you think they're going over the top. If the supporters on here were not prepared to show outrage I think you/we would have greater cause for concern.

  44. I say we throw Big Steph Martin in the midfield and watch him carve the middle up. In my opinion he's our elite "A"grade star who is gonna be our Pavlich/Goodes. The kid is a GUN.

  45. McKenzie 37 games (battled with injury) Trengove 37 Grimes 32 (injuries) Bail 18 (injuries) Gysberts 18 (injuries) Tapscott 15 (injuries) Nicholson 9 Blease 5 (broken leg...) Viney 0 GIVE THEM TIME. How can we be writing off our midfield when these players are averaging barely a full seasons worth of games between them, and many have struggled to have a consistent uninjured run during their time with us? I'm patient and i have faith, i wish others did too

  46. Let us all remember that John Worsfold is a qualified Chemist. So he must have known what has been going on to at least some degree. W.A. Is another country compared to the eastern states. It is that far away. I was at the GF in 2006 and have been suss on how clean that team was ever since. I still think the AFL allow them to get away with murder. But with a 3 strike policy what do you expect. I shall never agree with that. As a young kid i took a lot of drugs at parties-it was fun. So if they AFL are fair dinkum then the club doctors should always be told. It is not often i agree with Jeffrey Gibb Kennett!
    1 point
  47. No way. I want a flag. But not at any cost. I don't think the flag should be taken away from West Coast. If anyone can prove that the drugs they were on were performance enhancing then I might take a different view.

  48. This is incredible....the wild, wild West story continues. Someone should investigate their 2011 year as well. They came from nowhere.

  49. I'd love our players to be off their nut on everything going if it meant a flag.
