I reckon he'd go missing if he was left to rot in the forward pocket all year long. He's a very dangerous secondary forward, but I think he would be wasted playing there all match.

Leave him in the midfield rotation, but instead of rotating him off like the rest of them, rotate him forward. If he's not fresh enough, rotate him off every second rotation, so you get a rotation that goes like midfield-forward-midfield-bench-midfield-forward.

Im with ya on that Nasher. gets me why they dont do things like that. Also it would disrupt the rotations of the opposition.. Bit harder to do a [censored] for tat rotation when one is still on the field.

I like the idea of him being a forward, rotated through the midfield if he isn't getting his hands on the pill or the midfield is struggling.

Generally I think exclusive forwardline roles should be left for those who are either genuine KPP players, or whose engines are too small to play regular midfield roles. Green is an asset in the middle when his form is good. I think if he was stuffed in the FP with only infrequent runs through the middle it would be a waste of a fit and capable midfielder, which in my opinion is much more important than a secondary forward.

Yesteday's game was about the most pressureless game of football I have seen in a long time. The only sustained pressure was the pressure a player put on himself.

This was the sort of game that many people tried and true players should perform well like Bruce, Green and Robbo.

Green had a good game but I was disappointed he hit the post and the shanked a set shot when both were gettable. He should have been talking of six goals not 4.

Green is a trier and not a world beater. He will never consistently dominate either the midfield of a KFP. It codswallop any one person wrecked Green's career up forward beyond Green. He was not good enough and Nasher's observation about Green disappearing was a consistent act when played up forward earlier in the year.

I disagree.

Green was played out of position by Daniher because we had no genuine midfielders and he and others like Bruce were forced to assume a role not suited to their style of play.

You lot underrate the value of a small or crumbing forward. By all means give him a run in the middle every now and then but Brad Green can have half the number of possessions in the forward line as opposed to the backline/midfield and yet be twice as damaging.

I would love to see this as well. Similar in some ways to Ryan O'Keefe.

I agree that Brad Green is a better forward than defender and worth keeping

His best position might be on a wing as he seems to excel better with less traffic

have always liked players who break the lines especially with todays fast paced style of game

Brad Green is 184 cm and is not a small or crumbing forward and lacks the pace and nous to play that role. We have Davey, Maric and Wonaemirri as those players.

Its a pity that your assessment of Green is not backed up by his performances. Green does not have the wits and skills to be a permanent forward.

Rhino, we may have those players but they are not doing the job, just chasing other players around, with reference to Green who I have bagged as soft in the past was surprised and enjoyed his game on Sunday I believe he can play forward and do a better job than Robbo or Neitz at the moment, there is one way to find this out who is right or wrong and that is to play him there at the start, until then everyone will keep on having a say.

He played his early years up forward and he struggled in a FP and will be cut to pieces as KPF given the questionable supply down forward.

He can pinch hit as 3rd/4th up forward from time to time. But where this side is at present and will be this year a "soft" :rolleyes: footballer like Green will struggle.

In all honesty from a pressure perspective it wont come much easier this year than Carlton. I would be hesitant to benchmark any performance just on that game

I am a bit hesitant about Green backing up this week, but I am hoping that DB might have got through to him, at least it is a start, now if only Chook can look interested and stop missing tackles chase hard instead of ooppssss I missed him again.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week.
