yes.. I think many are now really starting to understand what was a stake in that last game !!

Yeah I knew it would come back to haunt us.

But it was fun on the night, rocking up to a game of footy knowing you'd won the game before it started.

Some of us were suggesting to play Weetra and Garland and even the bootstudder for experience and drop a couple of guys to Sandy to help them win a game (final) that counted. The powers that be thought better of it. We would not have lost if we walked off at half time.

it would have been perfectly legit i reckon to mothball a couple ( prepackaged for surgery etc..lol ) and as you say get a few more games into some of the newbies. Could have even legitmately trialled them in a 'different " possie or two; just to see how they go in 'real " time etc !!.. would have just been responsible nurturing of injuries and explorative selction !!

it could have been !!! ;)

WEST Coast should not, and will bnot accept 3, 20 and Kennedt

Pick 3 is a nice pick, but it wont get them Kreuzer or Cotchin

Pick 20 is a nothing pick

And Josh Kennedy is a dud. Have you seen hm play?

but anyhow...that was then and this is now. I suppose we sit back and see what goodies can be had !!!! mwahahahah !!!

WCE can only claim 'some ' compensation. They arent going to get a Judd for Judd.. not even a "Judd's" worth.. Like a trade in...you never realise is REAL value, just what the market will bear !!

Was just informed that Nick Malceski wants to come home and will be traded next week. Who would you be willing to give up for him. He will definately be playing in melbourne next year. Also Jolly , Buchanan and Grundy will be heading to a new club next year.

Heard all this direct from the horses mouth( and its not Mr Ed)

fun on the night? I left during the 3rd qtr in absolute disgust & bewilderment. <_<

And we also lost pick 18 as well which would have been very handy. Even without Judd we would have been far better off. I note our Coach is now an assistant at Carlton, hmmmm !

IMHO Mark Riley was a very, very costly decision. Could have set this club back 3-4 years.

Err?

Which of the following would've been a better choice:

Peter Curran

Paul Williams

They were the only choices.

it wasnt so much who "looked after ' the last games... as much as the instructions of "how to " ;)

Get Buchanan!!!

I can't stand Buchanan. He's a battler at best. I don't understand how Sydney won its flag with C grade midfielders (Kirk excepted). Luke Ablett, Ben Matthews and Buchanan epitomize the champion team over champion individuals. I don't want to trade for a goer with no talent, unless it nets us Sydney's first round pick. I would consider Malceski more seriously, but the only thing that really interests me from Sydney is their first pick. If we can snare that, I don't give a flying continental what else is part of the deal.

The Swans have been very clear in the press up here that their first round pick will not be up for grabs.

Well sod that then. They can go and fall off a cliff. I'm not interested in their plethora of flogs. I would consider Malceski but ONLY if he's going on the cheap. Have you heard anything about Malceski QueenC?

Nope, sorry Diablo.....

And while I can (just) understand it if he wants to leave, I would imagine the Swans would be loathed to let him go. And would make it relatively difficult for a club to get him on the cheap. Although he is a fine player and would be a valuable asset to any team looking to bolster their line up with an attacking defender.

The thing with the Swans is that they have not really developed their kids in the past few years given the group they had were winning and they had so few injuries but this year we will probably see that they have a few up and coming young'uns and Malceski is one of the best of the next group of Bloods.

I would be very surprised if he left our beautiful city, but then again it is the silly season ;) !!!

the thing in all this trade this 'n ' that etc is that its a numbers game..( plus some people for interest..lol ) .. Bit liek the scholl yard come marble time... I'l swap you 2 round 2 picks for that bloke...or will you take this guy and a good second round pick for a lower 1st round pick ..and so it goes on.

Essentially you may get what you want...but it may be by indirection and secondary trading !! Hopefully that made some sort of sense !! :D

but look...we had no other option. melbourne is a club built on pride not on tanking. id rather win one more game and suffer a little with draft picks. i think in the long run (on the field) we are better without he who must not be named. anyway, i bet Cream has a couple of good ideas up his sleeve. should be a very exiting trade week

Didn't Brisbane win their last game of the season sometime in the mid-late nineties to lose a priority pick? We all know where they went from there.

Saying that it has set our club back is a joke. There are much more important things the club needs to address to go foward, with the number one being the seemingley losing culture we have.

I am hoping the Bailey era will change this culture of accepting mediocrity, not being able to handle expectation of success and so on.

Stuff Chris Judd, stuff priority picks and stuff being second second best.

of course we had options. Its verry naieve and grandiose to assume the noble mantle..for what ??

We could have gone about it in sucha manner that the boys...who ever they were could still have had a red hot go.. just wthout any expectation of taking the lollies !! pride still intact.. and better situated at the moment.

sometimes yo do have to take a sideways step in life in order to allign your self for better prospects...thats just hard and fast reality. Everything else is fairytales !! seriously !!

Go through all the premiers of the last 10 years and tell me which of them has tanked to get draft picks.

it doesnt matter- carlton have gone through probably the worst downfall in the history of their club...if i was playing there..i'd get out asap...before honour boards with names on players who have won 50 games out of a possible 300

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
