King kept referencing the need for 'fresh legs' in his presser

Wouldn't be shocked to see Checkers get managed...just gut feel of course

Would allow them to play Heath some more mins

Lindsay, CJ and perhaps Hendo (lower) intensity of VFL) and Cross are the available fresh legs.

Perhaps Petty, X Taylor and Laurie could come out for CJ, Lindsay and Hendo and we manage Gawn and Mihocek in game.

We're not going to do what we did against essendon are we, we've learnt from that & we will not drop this.

Just reassure me

King and the players have talked multiple times over the past week about how they got to bogged down in results vs Essendon and have learned from that. So if it's true, they would hardly want to repeat that 2 weeks later on such a big occasion. We'll be fine.

Fox has said nothing about this match on any of its shoes - is like it doesn’t exist. On Punt Road End, they’ve already given up. Previously the match has been pumped up, why the lack of press?

When is the team announced? This morning?

What does getting ‘bogged down in results’ mean? He said they just needed to concentrate on the ‘process’, but it’s so vague to me that I don’t think I know what’s being referred to.

What’s the results and what’s the process? Is it a clinical way of saying ‘we thought we’d just win and didn’t play the game at the right intensity’?

He goes on to say that he may have focused on what went wrong, rather than saying we need to work on x, y, z to get ourselves up. Ie process driven vs being results driven.

We are still running 4 tall defenders Disco/Howes/XT/Lever, all over 190cm. Do Richmond provide a genuine match up for TMAC?

The week after we have the Swans, again no direct match up for TMAC. Reality is that if TMAC has no direct match up with another older tall forward he is a liability on transition defence.

We should get Lindsay back on the defensive wing, and keep Kolt and Langdon at HB.

Lynch is fit to play apparently, so that's the match up for TMac, but I'd be going smaller and play Turner on Lynch. I really want to see the most agile set up we can muster that can also get it done in the air.

I think our best set up could well look like:

Howes Turner Taylor Kolt

Bowey Lever Langdon

This will be the backline of the future, might as well get these guys to build some chemistry now

Does Jiath come back in when fit?

I think so

Pretty ordinary footballer if we’re being honest. Not playing him over a few others.

Why do you think King did so before his injury then?

The need for speed!!!!

He is also good at getting the ball, just needs simple instructions on what he does when he gets it!

Because Taylor wasn’t ready. CJ is what he is, he’s 27, XT is the future and sky’s the limit, get games into him now. Also don’t see CJ getting games when Rivers, Lindsay and Bowey are back. We’ve also got Tholstrup going well down there and Howes, tough for spots. He might come in this week due to the injuries, but when those other players are fit I think he’ll spend a fair bit of time at Casey.

Realistically CJ while flawed is going to have far better output than 1 gamer XT, so I can see a change being made

CJ in makes us the quickest team in the comp if not already with Pickett X2, Windsor and Sharp....just need him to tidy up those kicks a bit

All good. Funnily enough after I asked this, Facebook started showing me the ad. Good to know the Zuck is reading everything I write on this phone.

I was in the same basket of bringing Tmsc in bu the more I think about it, the more I think CJ will come in instead.

More agile but can also play tall with his leap and bounce out of half back.

Turner can take Lynch.

Turner's great. What a (mid season?) draft pick he turned out to be. 200+ game player.

Kind of hope CJ doesn't come in, I know he probably will, but his dosposal makes me very nervous and I think all Hawks supporters know this already and were happy to see the back of him for a reason.

Let's hope he can tighten up his decision making and kicking.

Assuming they are all playing I would be TMac to Lynch, Lever to Faull, Turner to Lefau.
I suspect CJ will come in for XT unless we have anyone sore on short turnaround.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
