GAMEDAY: Rd 06 vs Brisbane

Defence all over the shop. Is it because Turner is on Rainer, leaving Petty and Lever to handle the other talls? Whatever it is, not a lot of synchronicity.

Windsor’s tackling is a liability

his tackling is terrible i have to say

Lions ball movement got going the last 5 minutes. We’re having a crack and that’s all we can ask for

Skills. They're slicing through us and kicking those set shots. Us, not so much.

Would be nice if our forwards could mark the pill consistently.

Consistently?

Try like once.

Jefferson. Weak efforts. Really disappointed. Three times he had chances to mark Its not Casey Gotta be strong at the contest

@dazzledavey36

Couldn’t agree more and if you do take a mark 30 or so out, you have to finish your work. Does he have the ticker to correct it in the second half?

Players with 5 disposals or less till half time: Windsor, Laurie, Sharp, Taylor, Jefferson, Chandler, Heath.

I think teams have figured out to play keeping’s off, and to wait for us to turnover by foot.

The coaches need to have a word to XT about kicking to position too. His turn over with a shallow entry cost us a goal. Gotta be more defensively aware at the top level.

The effort if there, just some skill execution, and a more deliberate strategy going forward. We kicked to the top of the square about 5 times that quarter and it seemed very one dimensional, and got us nothing.

Windsor five touches to half time. Looks a bit lost at the moment.

I'd say a spell in the twos would be warranted but we literally have no midfield depth ready to come in.

I mean, it's something to watch.

Brisbane already at 70 uncontested marks. If that continues we'll lose pretty convincingly. Pressure

had chances to even it up at least. Difference in skill and experience showing . But we haven't played bad. Need to put he pressure and improve of our skills under the lions pressure.

Not XT fault that Harry Sharp got outmarked but a midget in Neale.

Nothing wrong with XT option. Maybe should should have done better to created a contest to bring the ball to ground.

1/2 time.

Dees 36 Lions 52

🤢JVR. JEFFERSON. Both had chances but really need to grab the footy. Sooo frustrated. Not teenagers anymore. it’s now 4 & 5 years

🤬Fritsch overhead handball when could have turned and kicked towards goal. Langford is ok but needs more acceleration to be the player we need.

🤬Lions 3 goals in last 8 minutes to get in front

🤬Windsor is better today 2 tackles 3 missed tackles Gotta work on that

👑 Kingy Watch COLEMAN and WILL ASHCROFT both getting plenty of the footy without pressure

👍🏻Best players: Turner, Steele, Howes , Lever, Kozzzy. Defenders okay but cut up through the midfield runners

We’re having a crack at least.

Lions are class and will hurt you on turnover.

Some positives and need a repeat in the second half, to many talls in our forward line seeing us getting beaten continually at ground level

Problem is everyone needs to cover for petty as he gets exposed to easily means they can’t just concentrate on there man. Add to the lions pushing hard forward to create an outnumber where possible

If we stop most of our turnovers we will finish well.

That is their source of scoring.

Agree 100%. Zone. Witches hard defence. Kingy, it’s not working !!!

Yep. Three words sums up the difference in the teams. Skills, Skills, Skills. They're having a crack, but our skills are terrible plus a few players take short steps.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
