That game showed us everything that was wrong the past years. Sharp what an improvement on last year. Steel has to be the pick up of the year.

Steele is the … steal of the year, easy.

So many positives but Sparrow was an absolute maniac in that last quarter. Like an out of control boulder with vices for arms .

His tackling in the first 10 minutes of the last quarter was the signifier to the rest of the boys that today we are going to do whatever it takes.

Tom should be really proud.

Not a perfect game from him but Latrelle is the real deal

Also Harry Sharp stocks are up

Bought in …. Exactly the way to put it.

Clear as day!

Get [censored] you nepo plastic [censored]. Even the pocket of [censored] behind the goals is rent a crowd.

Every sense of the word plastic and a big [censored] you to Judas.

Also, Jack Steele. I apologize. Thought he was coming in as a stat padding stabilizer, but what an absolute star. Not only does he win clearance and find the ball, his pressure and tackling is just first class.

LFG!

Pies and Saints fans filthy to lose experienced guns

amazing recruiting

I just told a Dogs fan at Flinders St station if they wanna make today perfect they need to win by 187 points.

Absolutely stoked. So much to like about the win.

Pressure, defense and effort - unbelievable.

Steele, Kozzie, Max, Salem, Sparrow.

We have a very very good outside game.

Petty as 2nd ruck.

We won centre clearances and contested possession against Miller, Rowell, Anderson. Epic effort.

Did I mention Kozzie?

The 2nd and 3rd efforts, even from players who didn't have their best day - JVR, Kolt, Laurie, Culley.

29 shots at goal!

The Picketts are very talented footballers

Their taste in music is appalling

When you combine elite speed with aggressive tackling, it's absolute fireworks. Unreal win, can't believe it.

Entertainment plus!

Seeing Gawn rove a ground ball deep in the backline to win himself a high free kick shortly after he contested a centre bounce is just wow.

Man has no limits.

Thank you Mr Steven King for reigniting my love for the Melbourne Footy Club again.. 😭🔵🔴

The scary thing is that this is no where near the final product.

Guys like Langford, Lindsay, Tholstrup. Windsor and L.Pickett are still finding their feet at this level.

The ceiling is still unknown, and that is super exciting.

Unreal game! I was worried Kozzie was going to have a down game but absolutely lit it up. We are playing so much fast fun footy, absolutely loving it.

Grand final aside that is the best Melbourne win that I have witnessed. Four quarters of pure guts and determination. Loving our ball movement and our game management. We are playing intelligent and really watchable football. When the floating fixture is release I don’t think we will be playing many Sunday twilight games.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
