Teams are in. Looking like just T Mac for Turner

Heath Laurie and Cross on the extended bench

No AMW. A little bit surprised, thought he'd done enough.

Probably has in a vaccum, but need to get some games & continuity into him first…was his first full competitive game for a LONG while

Not minding that selection.

Go us !!

We want to get some more match fitness into him first.

Listed on website as 'Debut game' (though no announcement vid (tomorrow?)) so an actual 'in'? For Trelly?

Always shows the 'debut' next to first gamers on the extended bench, means nothing

Looking like Rivers maybe dropped this week.

He’s probably on notice this weekend.

I don’t think King would’ve been too impressed with him dropping a handball pass from Steele that resulted in a costly turnover on the wing.

the order the interchange is named.

They're named in jumper number order (lowest to highest). 😁

You’re probably right, but I highly doubt he is getting dropped off one mistake (or 2, or 3). King spent all summer talking about how our players need to stop being afraid of making mistakes as we learn how to adapt to the new style/coaching.

If anyone gets dropped I suspect it will be for structural or more basic/fundamental reasons (effort, intensity, etc).

Players aren’t going to be dropped on form off of a couple of games - you don’t want players playing with fear a mistake will get you dropped. He’s also been excellent at other times? Bizarre comment

players are learning an entirely new system - it is going to take time? Good grief

In the cameos in the pre-season games this country kid looked like he could be a surprise packet. Kicked 3 goals in one quarter against Brisbane. Interested to see how he goes on the big stage at the MCG in a proper league game.

More chance of me playing, than him getting dropped.

Looked a fair way off AFL level in the hit out against the Dogs

It's Game Day and the Demons are back at the MCG and have a massive challenge ahead of them as they take on Premiership contender the Gold Coast Suns. What do you want to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons are back at the MCG for the second week in a row. They face the Suns off a 15 day break without their prized recruit and former Demon champion Christian Petracca. This will be a massive test for the Demons who will be facing a genuine Premiership contender. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

The Demons snatched Victory form the Jaws of Defeat as they clawed their way back from 43 points down to win by 23 points in Max Gawn and Tom McDonald's 250th matches at the MCG. Never in Doubt!!!
