Does anyone know whether we will be coming out onto the ground via the same race this week? I saw soemthing, somehwere, saying it is permanent...why? Can someone enlighten me. I thought we always used the race in the Members. We used to have the one in the red seats

I think we will come out of the race we always used to come out of for the Carlton game and the Collingwood game only.

We have apparently moved rooms as they are more spacious and better for advertising.

I would give Latrelle another week, and if it doesn't work then he can spend at least a month in the VFL to gain confidence. No shame in that. He lacked serious composure on the weekend and made some terribly unforced errors.

I want Melksham in the team, as early this week. Too classy a player to be wasting away in suburban footy.

I’d like to see Melky in. I think his smarts could come in really handy against an inexperienced Carlton backline. He’s a difficult match up size wise also.

Not this week, as it is Carlton's home game.

No chance based on the way he was hobbling around for Casey - seemed to hurt his knee early in the game and was literally on one leg after that

I wouldn't say he beat Jackson convincingly. He was good but not great. I think he is tiring he's not a machine. He needs a rest shortly. Time to see how Heath goes. I'd like to know why Sparrow should keep his spot when he hasn't had a kick for 4 years. He's been gifted games far too often. We do lose run a bit but to keep giving Sparrow games when he doesn't deserve it is detrimental to the side.

I'd use Langdon, Culley and Sharp more in the middle to give them more run. I wouldn't use Heath as a forward unless Roo, Fritta or Checkers are getting a bath to see if he can make a difference, you can also use T.Mac or Petty up forward and Roo down back. 10 minutes a quarter for Heath in the ruck then the rest is Gawn's.

I like a lot of your contributions on Demonland, but the bolded sentence above is ridiculous- look up AFLtables.com to find factual information. 762 kicks between 2022-2025, though to be fair to the comment you made it’s less than 10 kicks/game over those 4 years.

He can't run and that was before he was on one leg after tweaking his knee on the weekend.

I can't see Melksham getting a game in the same side as both Fritsch and Mihocek unless we change the forward mix

When I said he hadn't had a kick I didn't mean it literally, I meant harldy had a kick which I was right less than 10 kicks a game is pretty poor.

There is absolutely zero chance melk comes into the ones anytime soon based on the footscray vfl game.

I went ans watched him closely. His leadership, support and voice, fir all teamates (ie including the Casey players) was first class

But, having not been to training, I was surprised at his condition. Doesn't look anywhere near as cut as he did last season ad looks to have bulked up in his legs and upper body- which is not making him any faster.

And I'm not sure why he played the second half.

His right knee was heavily strapped, and he was clearly hampered - he took a shot at goal (which happened to right in front of where I was sitting) from the left forward pocket but kicked with his left foot (and missed by a mile).

we don't know what he has been told to do and whether or not he is fulfilling his assignment. It's easy to say he's not getting possessions but we are long past the Ron Barassi/Gerard Healy "show me possessions".

What have Sparrow's opponents been doing?

I don't think he's valued like that. His tagging assignments have been pretty poor and considering Freo next 2 best players ran riot in Brayshaw and Bolton I'd say he didn't have an assignment. If he was a good tagger he would be our number 1 tagger not Tholstrup. I think he is valued on pressure acts more than playing on a direct opponent. The last 2 weeks we have been really low in the possession count. We need players that can find the ball Sparrow ain't one of them. Who knows we could only make the one change and play Gawn until he breaks down or burns out we will wait and see. I think Sparrow is a surplus.

Bailey Laurie, possibly Jake the snake.

I was standing right next to the bench for the first quarter (until moved on by security) and Melksham has coach written all over him, possibly already focusing on transitioning this season the way he was barking instructions back at the bench.

Is this not Max's 250th game? How have I not heard a peep about this milestone yet? Let's hope he gets the win he deserves!

We (DA) have talked about nothing else this week. Actually we’ve been talking about it since the end of last season but now it’s in overdrive. Rest assured he’ll be celebrated.

Incidentally, seven years ago today Max played his 100th…

That’s right, Ditcha. Also, the cheer squad will be up the other end of the ground, Bay M33 in the Ponsford stand. Booo!

Long knives out for “Captain Jack Sparrow” a premiership player who’s been working at the coal face for five years, whilst club heroes, Petracca, Oliver and Viney have been counting the members money.

Not every game can be bang, bang, bang.

Wash your mouth out, Viney has earned every cent.

Sparrow is a tough competitor who doesn't take a backward step - we have a few in this team that are a bit timid or simply not physically mature enough to compete with seasoned AFL opposition. We can't play all of the youngsters and need some stronger bodies particularly around stoppage

Sportsbet have Dees as favourites for this match. I think it's an even money bet.

Not that far from even money, we aren't exactly overwhelming favourites.

Sure, but he should have progressed from just a tackler to someone who actually influences games with ball in hand. He has been on the list for, 7 years?
Maybe I am being harsh but I expected more and he has shown glimpses of what he can do but seems like he wont ever take the next step of becoming a mid, or a 20 possessions per game sort of player.

Yes. I thought he was going to be a natural Viney successor where you can bank on him to get a certain number of contested possessions. Love the work rate on the defensive side and I don't necessarily want to drop him but I think he is what he is now.

Carlton are going to smash us at the clearance and contested possession. We've already been well beaten in those areas over the first two weeks so we'll need to make sure we limit the damage they get out of that. We are pretty good when we turn the ball over though so need to pressure and punish them when we have the opportunity.

Hopefully you get enough notice if TMac is in. May not have had the impact of Max but has been a brilliant servant of the club for a long time and deserves the kudos for reaching 250.

Back of the envelope calculations suggest we've played about 162 games in the last 7 years (7 x 23 H&A, plus 7(?) finals, minus 6 missing COVID-year games). So, that's 150 out of a possible 163 (including this week). While my numbers might not be precise, it's close enough to show how resilient he has been.

I would interchange L.Pickett with Mathews after the Carlton matches. We need to get seniors matches into both players and by dropping one back to Casey it should improve their confidence. If both do well later in the year then we could play both of them in the seniors.
