GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Fremantle

Haven't mentioned him, won't mention him, he plays for Freo.'

Kings comments on Judd.

Is anyone still bitter he left. I mean I put him with spargo where I think meh, doesn't really bother me they left as both are replaceable

In a start to the season which has been defined by many both current and former Melbourne players being at the top of their game, this will be a game with some 27 total Demons on the field.

Tom McDonald is going over as an emergency. Would we be so cruel as to put him in to play directly on his brother?

Now, I don't think anybody is going there 'expecting' we will win, but gee it is possible a bit. And wouldn't that have us ringing bells and banging pots together in the street.

Anyone familiar with the Vietnamese tradition of 'storming'? "Đi bão"

Terribly sad no Rock the Casbah tonight, hopefully due to being an away game as opposed to lack of goals.

Looking forward to sitting with the faithful this evening and seeing what the new look Dees have got.

All my docker mates are bircking it.

Two high trauma fan bases haha

Hope you’re right. And it would give me great pleasure to admit I was wrong.

I don’t think I could wish McVee well under any circumstance.

Correct. He lied to one of our own.

Causing grief and perhaps a little embarrassment .

Eff him !

Freo will cause us too many problems at the back

Treacy Amiss Bolton Jackson Voss Murphy Reid

I think we’ll compete and score a fair bit but they’ll kick 20+ goals and win

Would that be the Jimmy Styner School?

Excited but not confident.

Freo by 10 goals.

Williamson urgh, 22 one 👁️ against Demons

Lmao, what is it with fans of sh*t clubs like St Kilda and Fremantle thinking they are leaps and bounds better than us? There is a reason why those sh*t clubs have achieved nothing over the last 20 years

They may win and they reserve to be favorites, but Fremantle fans expecting to waltz in and just get the 4 pts will be in for a massive shock. They are perennial chokers for a reason. Their entire fanbase is extremely fragile and not very educated.

If we are within reach at 3 quarter time, never mind in front, we can win it.

Lots of expectation on Freo to go deep this season and they really need a win. From the other side of the country, Longmuir is a little under the pump already.

The expectations game is the thing here - Freo are expected to win convincingly, while we're entirely unburdened and playing with freedom, now endorsed by last week.

As some have already said, if we can go with them to 3/4 time we're well and truly in it.

i don't think that's true at all

i think he's just a genuinely poor umpire

not nicholls, but not far off

Guys, guys, don't be too harsh on mocking Fremantle. They had the same excuses for their first-up loss as we did. Oh, wait, nevermind.

Actually, I do find it a little interesting the way that has been portrayed. Freo came out and kicked 8 goals to 3 in the first quarter, and then Geelong steadily reined that in with five goals to three in each of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. In fact, coincidentally Geelong had the same number of scoring shots in every quarter other than the first.

Even in the first, you would think an 8-goal quarter would signal pretty full control of a game, but Geelong still managed to snag 3 against the flow.

Fact is, Fremantle can be scored against. Just keep attacking and even if they have a big quarter you will be able to mitigate it by getting a few goals yourself.

Also worth noting that Freo had an incredible 30 scoring shots from just 46 inside 50s. That makes them them a top-4 team for shots on goal a the same time as a bottom-4 team for inside 50s.

It's a freakish 50% higher inside-50 to score rate, whether you compare to lower-scoring teams -

West Coast had 10 goals 12 from 39 inside 50s. Essendon 13 goals 5 behind from 40 inside 50s.

Or the highest scoring teams -

Gold Coast average 19.11 from 65 entries. Melbourne(!) had 18.12 from 56.

The Kolt Lock straight to Serongy

If JVR can back up last week with 3 or more goals, we score more goals than behinds and take 15+ marks inside 50, I’ll be happy regardless of win/loss.
