What a ripper game of footy by both teams. Stoked for the win.

So much to like. Massive team effort. Not amongst the best but shout-out to whipping boys Petty and also Kolt for keeping Nas pretty quiet for a superstar.

There's been a few here not liking the new, helter skelter style of footy we're witnessing but they'll soon get used to it

But it's nothing new, footy was primarily played like this, prior to 2005

Could be a generational thing or more so, what we get used to

And you're right about the teamwork, the extra handpass or players sprinting to position was a sight to behold

2nd efforts, a functioning forward line and no boundary hugging were also standout features

More of that please and there's no reason that we can't reproduce that style on a weekly basis

Positives:

Four ladder points.
Clear game plan based on dynamic and attacking football.
Van Rooyen's new-found confidence.
Max as mighty as ever.
Newcomers Miochek, Jiang and Steele all added value.
A statement game by Culley.
Windsor starting to fulfill his potential.

  1. Concerns:
    Defence in disarray at times.
Looked very vulnerable to counter-attacks straight through the corridor.
    Overall:
    Much to be pleased about.

I thought they missed Tmac. Obviously King is playing the ones who will be around in 2027.

Max, what a captain's effort.

Good drop punt goal with an angle and from his 35 meters out challenge. Important marks , and contests in the last.

Kolt drew the attention of their forward line, with his shoulder to shoulder against Nysiah. Took their focus away. Seemed to enjoy the attention.

Sharps confidence will be sky high, hopes he continues to build.

Petty great second ruck.

Catch me if you can Latreelle, excitement.

So many endurance runners.

Sparrow couldn't get involved.

CJ, Miochek, and Steele did well.

A few fumbles, and brain fades.

Kicking plenty of goals.

Had desperation about some of our defense, great signs.

King, got a win, and I can see effect of the trust he gives to the players.

A close game with a win is a good day.

He had a fantastic second effort in the centre that recovered an error. Kudos to Kolt. He's a bit raw and makes a few mistakes, and could be more focused sometimes but he did well on a very tough assignment.

Do they come any tougher than today. I not a fan but he did a good job today.

3 players, Silvagni is also on $900k

i recall that there were times where he was lucky to make the Carlton side. An incredibly interesting choice made by his father. Still, that's the Aints problem.

Today was fun. Like we have extricated ourselves from a choke hold

Some interesting team stats I was just looking at.

It looks like the Saints had more of everything, except 2 crucial stats – we had more bounces, and more tackles.

Either we are being very efficient, or they are squandering the ball.

Saints lost the same way they lost last week, they have no forward line. That is why NAS was played there.

We were pummeled in the middle but our scores from d50 and forward half turnovers I presume will be massive.

Today I was again worried by what I saw from Langford. Yes, he’s a 2nd year but he was not convincing in the pre season games either.

Anyway so stoked for Roo and Mihochek with the collective 9 goals. We haven’t that type of KPF dominance for a while.

Out defense was exposed in open play and stoppages a lot today. Very unMelbourne- like in the old way. Hopefully we can tighten things up a bit there.

Huge difference. Iced out a game, 18.12 on the scoreboard, 20 marks inside 50.

Culley and Sharp stood up, Max had 4 minutes rest the entire game which Is unbelievable. 6 for Roo.

The team looked happy!!!!!

Yep exciting to watch

Great to see the win, thank god for a functioning forward line. Mihocek is the player we've needed for 4 years, just straightens us up and creates space (in every sense) for the other forwards.

Was pleasantly surprised by Jiath, more than did enough, and thank god for Steele. Apart from he and Kozzy, our mids were MIA. Lots of room for improvement there - hard to imagine Langford having a worse game again - but when we win games it's not going to be through dominance around the ball.

As many suspected, our defence is problematic, especially the smalls. We won but they still had 32 shots on goal, more than enough to win and win comfortably. Attacking defenders are great, but sooner or later we're going to need good one-on-one defenders. Hopefully some room for improvement, only our first game.

But more than happy to take the 4 points and get the monkey off our backs, does wonders for the self-confidence. Especially happy for JVR, he's clearly put in a power of work across the off-season.

Fair comment.

Fritsch had some moments he'd like to have back (that play on and wild snap in the last was terrible), but still had 8 score involvements.

Didn't mind the role he played today.

A small point - Harry Petty actually looked pretty good in the few centre bounces he contested.

One of the most satisfying wins in a while, to put the boot into saints after they thought they would be relevant again and to get revenge for last year at the same time. I couldn’t have asked for more

How's the Saints paying 2m for a player who can't run out a game.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Great finisher, but he will be spending alot of time forward as his tank is weak.

It looked like a weight was lifted off the whole club today. Played with, freedom, dare and energy.

How many bullet passes to blokes on the lead? We've barely seen any of that for 2 years.

Lots to like.

Kolt, easily his best game. Outstanding effort on NWM.

Sharp, easily his best game. Second and third efforts

Roo, easily his best game

Steele, Checkers, CJ all positives.

Pace on the ball, koz and Caleb elusive, quick and creative

And MAX!

How good will it be going to work or school tomorrow with a fantastic win under our belt

A polo from 2021 win. Will be well used this week

I was very critical of Sharp last year and thought he was a VFL player. But the way Kingy used him today was elite coaching.

Limited game time right until the last quarter when he was unleashed with his superior running power snd it showed because he was just enormous getting into the right spots.

Real ANB type role today.

Thank god we only used Roo at déep forward throw ins.

A great win to start a new era. The Pickett's will supply a lot of excitement for many years. A very happy walk home after the game.

I saw him a bit for the Crows last night.
