NON-MFC: Round 01

I thought Brad Scott’s comments about the inability of coaches and structures to limit scoring were interesting. He basically implied that he thinks this season is going to be horribly uncompetitive, because the AFL have changed the rules to encourage such free flowing footy.

We will see.

I love seeing the Demon alumni plying their trade elsewhere

Oscar M was Ho Hum today but gee I wish him well

Oscar B was great I thought. Good on him

Jackson was good, really wish we had him still

Judd McV, hardly noticed him, but I wish him well also

Clayton O, I’d just love to see him play well for his sake .. he didn’t play great yesterday but he will come good for GWS I think

Christian P, he’s a star and no longer our star. But thank you Christian!

Players come and go. I don’t mind and actually take pleasure when they succeed elsewhere. It’s a reason to watch otherwise who gives a xxxx games to ge honest

And Gee I wish Freo had won!

Maybe the lions are facing the cliff, early days but played last 3GFs won 2 and continued finals for 5 years has its toll

they have the best young list by a mile thanks to good recruiting and the academies

No drop off coming in the next 5 years

Good player that Neal-Bullin.

Agree youth is good & don’t start on academies which is an unfair advantage, Freo haven’t won a flag since joining in 1995 & the lions won 5, climbing the mountain is harder each season takes its toll

Collingwood started throwing their heads and hands around in the last 5 minutes of that quarter to deliberately bring the crowd into the game due to umpiring decisions. I have no doubt, watching how McRae has coached them to not tackle in close games to avoid stoppages, that he’s got them trained to bring the crowd into games when they need it.

He’s excellent at manipulating situations to their advantage.

Hoping the Crows [censored] them.

All good, PF. Judd’s young and has a lot to learn. I bear him no ill will.

Adelaide look out on their feet. It’s almost like they haven’t played a game of footy for 5 months against a team who played last week.

The Foxtel commentators need to do a refresher course on impartiality.

I have said it before - IF, IF the AFL showed even any presence of fairness they could easily ensure that the ten who played in (the absurd) round zero all played each other this week, and those without a game last week played the remaining games.

Sealer? Not yet. CARNA CROWS!

More chance of the Undertaker coming back at Wrestlemania than Collingwood in this game

The Demons are back on the road again for the third time this season when they take on the red hot ladder leaders the Sydney Swans at the SCG. Can the Demons take another big scalp? Who comes in and who goes out?

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
