So do we assume Lukers knee is fine, or it is currently being regrown in a lab?

... or we can assume that it takes days for the results of scans to come in and be assessed by professionals.

Given the fact that today's the cut off date for the SSP draft, it's possible that the club is waiting for those professional assessments to be confirmed before they reach a conclusion as to whether to put him on the inactive list which would rule him out for the entire decision.

In this age a specialist should have viewed the results and proffered an opinion hours after the scan!

Yes it is strange we haven't heard anything on Luker's injury.

Someone suggested to me that your favourite player Jeffo should be tried as a key back.

That could help his game and give him confidence for a move back to the forward line.

Your opinion?

I think AJ could be tried as a key back, as he seems to have what is needed to succeed there.

Your opinion.

A.J is not up to it. Jeffo is showing positive signs up forward. Forget the norf game where I reckon he was playing injured. Keep him as key forward as the footy dept was intending working in tamdem with JVR

The hospital would have had the scan results quickly so the Dees would know.

Likely not saying anything until the club specialists/docs have had a look and determined time out for rehab etc.

Agreed, although we have plenty of key back depth, I'm not sure that we have many back there that could provide the same niggle factor as AJ and that might be an advantage against some key forwards that might be susceptible to being thrown off their game in this way. Would rely on AJ also being sufficiently accountable as a defender.

Could also provide some ruck coverage in defence if we're not playing T Mac.

In summary, don't think he'd be my first choice defensive option, but worth evaluating there in case we think it's called for in the circumstances.

Kentfield medial and in a knee brace for a month per Ralphy’s tweet in the below post.

Phew - a good outcome all things considered, and with our season opening still two weeks away he could be up for selection by round 3 or 4

No ACL, no surgery - that's a terrific outcome.

Of course a month in a knee brace, and maybe two months of rehab, is not great but the alternative was 12-15 months out of the game.

Glad it's nothing too sinister, will debut this season for sure. Hopefully when he's ready he takes his moment

In a brace for a month, with rehab he won't be ready till mid season IMO

I’m obviously no expert but would he need to do much rehab? He completed most of the preseason so fitness shouldn’t be too impacted

As much as many seem to like to bag our admin and footy department or being inept, maybe they wanted to name Paddy Cross to the list all along, but were either going to put Luker on the LTI list depending on the injury prognosis from Friday, or were going to push Steven May out if that place didnt open up.

If so, a well managed strategy by waiting to the last minute.

Or, they are just inept and making it up as they go and got lucky with Luker's injury not being as severve as feared.

As per usual, the Demonland community will split into their usual camps as ro what they want to believe.

Hopefully as part of his rehab they teach Luker how to get that knee up and angled right at anyone who dares come in to his space and can then land a bit safer too.

If he can be back straight line running sooner than later he can keep a good chunk of his fitness.

i'm glad to hear its not an ACL

hopefully he can be pushing for a spot again in a couple of months

Soooo glad it’s not his ACL. A month in a brace then a couple of months rehabbing is so much easier to swallow than a year or more on the sidelines. It’s probs the best news we could realistically have hoped for.

And mark my words… he won’t be any different when he comes back. This boy doesn’t let anything drag him down.

YAY LUKER!!!

Sounds like a minor tear to the ligament which heals with rest

Don’t think he’ll need much rehab

Didn't Max have a similar scare in a few preseason's and was back playing again fairly early in the season, if not Rd 1?

I'm thinking that Max's timing may have been much earlier in preseason compared to Luker and I know probably all injuries are different, but it gives me hope that Luker will be available to debut, start building his game and impacting for the team sometime in the first half of the season, rather than another wasted year on the sidelines.

Until then, I'm pretty confident we have some good forward options in JVR, Mihocek, Fritta, Melksham and Co. Mihocek in particular looks like he could provide us with a great goal kicking avenue deep in attack.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
