  12. Melbourne

  13. Blues

  14. North Melbourne

  15. Port

I’d love to see Brisbane get knocked off, and I hope you’re wrong about St Kilda.

I think Sydney will be a bit stronger with a half decent forward in Curnow if he keeps fit.

Im hoping Gold Coast miss the eight and we can finish above Essendon.

The two rules of predicting a ladder:

1) Ensure you have turnover in the top 8. 9 out of the last 10 years you’ve had at least 3 changes to the top 8 from one year to the next.

2) Since the AFL became an 18 team league, at least one elimination final loser will miss the finals the next year. Take it to the bank that Freo or GWS will miss finals next year.

1) GC

2) Brisbane

3) Hawthorn

4) Geelong

5) Sydney

6) St Kilda

7) Fremantle

8) Bulldogs

9) Adelaide

10) Collingwood

11) Carlton

12) GWS

13) Port

14) North

15) Essendon

16) Melbourne

17) Richmond

18) West Coast

(I’ve predicted us to have a 5-18 season but I really have no idea how we’ll go next year)

x2, Clint.

We should have Giants, Dockers, Dogs, Swans, Blues, Saints twice and the rest once. I reckon 5/12 of those twices and 5/11 of the onces is feasible. That's clear 11th in 2025.

I lit candles... and consulted someone who may or may not be Max....

Bub, many out there believe we're at the Crossroads. Did Gawny mention flagging down a ride or Bob?

No, he did mumble something about needing to dart off ... or off for a dart ...or something...

Also something about off for a tea... or he needed to tee off 🤔🤷‍♂️

All very mysterious

Very pessimistic

No way Jose , the top 6

The bottom 6 , i hope not,

Bottom half of the middle lot,

Is about what i expect, if we can win a few games to form a base and show a better attitude in close games. A new game style new coaching, it will not change or gel overnight,

Need to be a grasshopper !

us on top dead easy, the rest can please themselves

Swans a lock for top 4 and my tip for the flag

Hawks barely made the 8 and haven’t improved their list so I don’t see much improvement- 6-10th

Attack of the interstate teams!! Lions, Crows, Swans, Freo, GC, Giants all top 8

Pies to fall hard. Cats to follow trend of GF losers missing finals

Dogs the biggest chance for Vic. Darcy to go close to a 100 goals and be the best player in the comp by years end

Demons to surprise many with 10-13 wins. cusp of finals

  1. Melbourne

    2-17 don’t care

    1. Gold Coast

Apart from the Swans top 4 this seem pretty right to me. I just don't know about the dogs with their leaky defence an issue.

I am convinced we will do better than last year. Also feel the Hawks will struggle but remain in the 8.

Looking back through our win/loss run this year 7 wins and 6 close losses we weren’t that far off the pace apart from Round 2-5 where we were smashed.

Given that we have lost our former champions in No.13 & 5 plus 4 & 9, I am expecting a slight drop off but with the inclusion of Jiath, Steele, Mihocek and Heath we have backfilled much better than I had expected. So with another year under their belts and a strong preseason our 25yo and youngsters will hopefully take that next step plus the Steven King and crew effect will provide a more cohesive and added enthusiasm within the list and the addition of another five quality youngsters could see us win 10-12 games in ‘26.

I am expecting a 10-12th finish but won’t be surprised if we finish a little higher in the order, as previously mentioned by some of our more knowledgeable posters nothing ever stays the same, some will rise and some will fall why can’t we be one of them.

This. So important.

Of course, requires us to be in that situation again in the first place. The alternatives are, 'nowhere near it, behind' and 'nowhere near it, ahead'(*). Is one of these more likely than 'close' in 2026? Except for maybe a small number of the former, hard to see so.

There'll be some skills needed to go with the attitude, too.

(* I have the 2025 Saints game in 'Ignore'...)

5th King will do wonders for our foot soldiers. I would expect that our lesser known players will step up. ( perhaps that was the whole team i was talking about)

I’d love that. How good would that be.

Did some checks online, we are pretty much either bottom 3 or simply last in a lot of people’s eyes.

Lot's of people treat us with contempt.

They clearly have no idea of what we've got in our list talent wise.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
