Deathriding Gold Coast 2026 - Sponsored by OnTrac5

Their draw will be much tougher next year than it was this year, so there's a good chance they struggle more than they did this year.

So which of Gold Coast or GWS will the AFL draw us to play in Round 1 next year?

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist but it wouldn’t surprise me if the AFL accidentally give them an ok draw

They'll probably draw us to either one of them on opening round rather than round 1. The power clubs like Collingwood are sooking it up and don't want to travel up there for OR.

With respect to the death ride, who would've thought Freo would have nose dived from 5th in 2022 to 14th in 2023 which got us Windsor. Hoping history gloriously repeats next year!

Jackson Fix beat me too it, Watch their dream run.
2 x Us, Prob vs the Filth too who will drop bad, 2 times Tigers and someone like Port who will also fall.
Without doubt they will have a sweet sweet run.

I'll be stunned if the finish outside the top 4.

Not this time.

Got much better stuff to do than put energy into hoping a team does terribly.

If it happens, great. You guys can do the legwork though.

And maybe at 0-8 I'll stick my head in.

Their draw wasn't that soft this year. Double ups against Adelaide, Us, Giants, Richmond, Essendon, and Brisbane. So 3 finals sides and 3 bottom 6 sides. Also lost one to Richmond and beat Adelaide and Brisbane

A harder draw and first year of dealing with expectation. I suspect the death ride will be worth the price of admission.

With the wild card to (potentially) come in next year they could finish 8th, host the wild card game against 9th and lose the game with Trac kicking 0.5 in that game. And better yet, 10th beats 7th in the other wild card game meaning GC finish 10th and we end up with pick 8 next year.

Happy days.

To be honest i'm deathriding 17 teams.

All hail the death ride!

I don’t think they’ll make top 4. Maybe a 20% chance.

I reckon they finish 5-7

Them Missing finals would be great

Anything more than that would be dream world

Looks like the GC death ride remains intact .. all hail the death ride

were not worthy waynes world GIF

Given their current list, they should be top 4 easily and probably for the next 5 years minimum. It's going to be very boring watching the Q clash in the next 3 grand finals tbh.

A bad run with injury in season 2026 would be good...

rjay! So uncharacteristic of you to blatantly wish ill like this.

But I like it.

Nothing bad 'Ghostwriter', just enough to derail their season will be fine by me....

No long term or career threatening injuries just plenty of soft tissue niggles would be nice

Gold Coast double up games: Geelong , Brisbane, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Giants and Melbourne

In all likelihood this will be a very late first round pick, but improvement isn’t always linear

You only need to look at us in 2019 and Fremantle in 2023 as teams who broke a finals drought and then plummeted back down the ladder the year after

Let’s hope the Suns 2026 season is another such case!

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
