For some reason your post has come up empty? Are we trying to get him?

Bartel said he hadn't been approached by the club on his podcast with Mcguire but that he'd be interested in a role like it.

Get him in with Buckley for a joint Interview and then announce them.

2 very smart students of the modern game.

Same

Mitch clearly tweeted

"Jimmy Bartel is a person of interest for Melbourne's soon-to-be-created head of strategy role and will sit between the football department and CEO.

The Demons wants someone with football experience but who can also think outside the square."

I know we're on a really interesting time line in terms of needing to make appointments, but i can't help but feel like in an ideal perfect world we'd have had this position filled so that person could have been part of the coaching search process.

Jimmy would be a fantastic get for the club, it does help to increase credibility to get these universally respected footy people in the door.

I would hope the club has secretly made this appointment before going to the media....

Doesn’t this mean Bucks would report to Bartel if all things came to fruition?

Would Bucks be deterred or encouraged by that appointment?

Bartel, Kelly, see if Bomber can offer something in the background, get TommaHawk in for a day a week to teach JVR how to push in the back and belt people. Geelong 2007 here we come

Amen. I'm not keeping my hopes up, but if we could get Jimmy in this role, it's going to go a very long way for us, supporters, in rebuilding some faith and trust with this football department/club.

Do not want whatever Bomber has to offer in the background lol.

If we can't get Bartel, maybe we could take Brent Moloney instead. (IYKYK laugh )

And IYD?...🤔

We've previously tried to lure Bartel across to us, so there is residual interest. This could turn into a very interesting 'watch this space' over the next few weeks.

@Gator , Richo is being pushed out the door. He might still be employed, but he's outside for next year, with few powers. Hopefully we can get his salary outside the soft cap too.

It worries me he's on the coaching panel, but he's one of many voices.

As part of the Brad Ottens Richmond to Geelong trade at the end of 2004, we gave pick 12 to Geelong to pass onto Richmond.

In turn we asked Geelong for Bartel but they refused and we eventually accepted Moloney instead.

Brent gave us very good service, but it's pretty clear that Bartel was the superior player.

Got me thinking.... if we'd given Goodwin and Richardson a job as "membership ambassadors" for 2026 would their salary have been outside the soft cap.

Can't be that easy

Surprised Jimmy is interested in the role tbh. Maybe he is sick of talking to Eddy.
