Yeah "axed" is a very classless way to report these faithful club people being moved on...they have done great things for us in the past they deserve more respect from the silly media than that.

Stay classy please.

Not a shock. Our kicking has gone backwards.

Yep main reason he had to go!

7 minutes ago, whatwhat say what said:

richardson and chaplin are under contract for 2025

So was Goodwin

Am wondering how Richardson is surviving the cull? He should’ve been the first to go.

Why is that?

Why should have the contracted head of the footy dept be the first to go?

I can take my answer as a post or a series of grunts and hollers if preferred.

He and others are doing the culling. Richardson was part of the posse of 4 that delivered the news at Goodwin's house (before being tossed out)

So first Goodwin, then Williams ... who's next?

This reminds me of when Bailey was sacked along with Schwab getting an extension (as CEO) Same weekend

I much preferred the PJ way of dealing with these matters. But alas, we don't have him anymore. More's the pity

Our new CEO isn't on board for another month whilst the incumbent President (Smith) is corresponding via video conferences

You couldn't make this stuff up

Thank you Mark "Chocco" Williams for helping Melbourne win the flag in 2021. I was rapt at the announcement of your appointment to the MFC. It felt like we were going to make it when you came to our club - and we did! Love your work. I wish you all the best for the future.

I don’t know enough about the relative roles these guys have, how much they influence the actual play, and of course we can’t afford to break every contract.

But back to this post - sincere thanks for your pivotal role in 2021 🏆. Very much appreciated by true Demon fans.

Maybe you should look up who the midfield coach is when taking pot shots.

Ah yeah, it’s Nathan Jones (along with Radford)? I know who it is, and I stand by my comment. That’s the point of my comment.

What’s your point? You’re satisfied with the way the midfield is performing?

*edit: Jones is also responsible for stoppage work. Yet another area that’s gone backwards phenomenally quickly.

Richo sacked him, now calling all the shots.

I thought Richo would be first man out the exit.

The club is ready for the last rites.

Assume he and bux are mates

Thanks Mark. You genuinely did all you could to get the best out of these boys. However like Goody, i think your message fell on deaf ears. Wish you all the best.

To the incoming head of development, may i suggest bring some concrete bags, a few skits and training drills inspired by the squid games, because it going to take something drastic to improve the skills of this side.

The relationship between these players, and Mark and Simon was not one of "deaf ears", and definitely was on display against Brissy this season. The Flag favourite and Adelaide the Second favourite.

In case you haven't noticed our skill levels are deplorable! Our footskills in particular are shocking. Thanks for your service but he had to go!

The news of Choco getting the bullet has given me an odd craving.

Not a great day for the extended family with his son-in-law Dylan Shiel also on the way out of Essendon. (And no, we shouldn't pick him up.)

Ufp2p3v.jpg

Load up, load up, load up, with Choco Bullets! (apologies to 10CC)

If we got a novice coach Choco might have been a useful mentor . Of course I doubt Buckley would need that. Is this another sign that Buckley is over the line?

I'm guessing it's been said elsewhere but I expect more list changes than usual. Of course some will just be of those consigned to the Magoo's but possibly a few premiership players will get moved on too. It won't just be the coaching ranks.

Fantastic appointment, and a great few years, much to be thankful to him for, but it's time for fresh voices.

The development of our younger players has been putrid for years. Williams has to be held accountable for that. Clearly it is time for fresh ideas and new voices.

Not sure you'll find too many posters satisfied with the midfield. Not sure why you even asked.

My point or question is this:

Why is Jones the target for all the midfield blame? We know that Radford was appointed first and Jones later and for other reasons as well. It's therefore reasonable to assume the seemingly anonymous Radford has seniority over the less experienced Jones.

In my mind the problems with the midfield are one of cattle, strategy and skill level

A - The cattle

1 - three bulls as starting mids (one shell-shocked, one un-fit, one wrecking ball)

2 - At least two of them are serial bombers without adequate endurance

3 - The game has gone past using bulls exclusively

B - The strategy

The fact that until recently we have persisted with this set-up (apart from utilising Kozzie plus others sparingly - Langdon etc) to me suggests it was a directive from Goodwin rather than the mid coaches - but that's a guess. In my mind, there's only so much you can do with that same set-up. Now we seem to be seeing and trialling a lot more players in the midfield thank [censored]!

C - The skill level

Clearly, a team-wide issue and looks to have seen Choco out the door

We'll see how the midfield coaches fare when the new coach takes over but I think it's safe to say one or both will go. I just don't get why Radford escapes the scrutiny in the blame game.

once again news about our club in the media before our club announces anything.
we need to find the leaks and plug them tigher than a drum, because its a disgrace.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
