PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Collingwood

I reckon we might have had 10% of the crowd last week against Hawthorn, and that was a free game for members.

This week we might struggle to get 2% if we're lucky.

Good luck to anyone planning to attend to witness the slaughter.

Must stop n daicos getting brownlow votes in particular the 3

I'd give Viney the job of tagging him. And make it a hard tag. If Viney can cut N Daicos's output by 20 disposals, that's job done, irrespective of whether Viney gets any or not.

I see McCrae has bought up the daicos tagging from kings birthday.

Watch him get free kick after free kick. Don't even sneeze near him.

I don't actually mind this...

Bit of very left field thinking that if not "work" might certainly provide something to play with...

Healy: How Melbourne can avoid the demise of a key Demon

Could the Dees have a look at this?

Bub, I had that same thought back on May 7 2023 - and said so:-

“I’d like to try using May as our key forward for a few games. His attack, strength and accurate kicking is surely worth a good look. He’s not the reliable key back he was - for whatever reason - and after listening to his interview, I think he really would like the opportunity up forward”.

As you can see, Healy is well behind in his (DL) research.

Should have listened to you then..

Perhaps they'll listen now 🎶

Don't think so - reckon it was No. 21.

Jim Durnan a quiet guy who was as tough as nails.

Although it'd be great to win, this playing group doesn't have a super record of bringing intensity for games that actually mean something, so it is not going to happen in the final round.

All we need them to do here is avoid creating an even bigger story of how unappealing a club this is for external talent (including coaches). Just end the season with some pride in the club, the jumper and yourselves. They owe a bit to quite a few at this point.

I’m predicting we’ll fold like a cheap suit but it’ll make my season if we knock them out of the finals which is what we have the opportunity to do.

Don’t think we can tip them out of the finals by beating them, but we could cause them to face an interstate elimination final.

No brainer . Been times when it should have been tried.

No changes to the side. I reckon both TMac and Milkshake must be planning on playing on next year, because I feel like it would be announced as a farewell game by now.

Can not believe no changes. Sharp and Sparrow had horrible games.

Wow, uninspiring to the max. It would've been a great opportunity to give the likes of Laurie, Brown or even Kentfield or Mentha a go considering Casey have a bye this weekend.

Everyone has checked out. What a drag of a year.

Edited by Demon Jack

No changes is not at all surprising…

-They want the guys who’re gonna play for Casey in finals to be rested and ready to go

-They don’t want to debut guys and wreck their confidence against a good side

Logical changes (or lack thereof), nothing to be gained against a side playing for their lives

Sharp retains his spot, just wow.

Sparrow retains his spot, just wow X2

I imagine that if McDonald and Melksham were retiring, it would've been announced by now so they could both be given a fitting tribute at the end of the match.

Hopefully both play on next season.

Haha..

Thank christ Melbourne Storm are playing tomorrow night so I can turn my attention to watching that instead.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
