Never play May again ffs

But he copped the end result of the free run that was going from their HB, so a bit harsh. (Our forwards would make a killing if they got the delivery they got through their running in waves.)

I also thought on few occasions that our blokes did not move the ball (especially in the first half) and that gave Hawthorn a chance to set up the rebound.

The way they played today ,they are a really good side !!!

I feel like I’ve gone back in time 10 years.

When Roos took over the team his focus was on defence. We had the best defensive system for a few years and we trashed it.

In the best part of 5 decades I’ve come to learn the dangers of “group think”. In this case, I think we got sucked in to the “group think” of fast transition football being the new way, as if it hadn’t been tried before. We got sucked in, by that I mean the coaches got sucked in, changed our game plan and this is where we’re at. We finished top 4 in 2023… Crazy.

Our defence is a shadow of what it used to be. We have the players to be able to execute the structure. Time to bring it back I say. Better to go out in straight sets again then watch this rubbish.

Yep. Sucked in by the media narrative of our poor forward connection and completely dissolved everything we were once good at. You can just see the players are confused and not on the same page now trying to always play on quickly regardless of if there’s any support around or if it’s an appropriate area of the ground to do so. The best way to create forward connection is by what you do without the ball and we just struggle to create forward half turnovers anymore or even force opposition to play through non dangerous areas.

I’m still hopeful we can turn it around next year. The way we’ve played this year just brings out the worst in our players and highlights their deficiencies. More systemic than personnel in my opinion.

6 goal loss isn't so bad in the end.

Just can't believe we won the inside 50 count.

Many many players disappointed today

And therein lies the problem. Incredibly, we are on top of the ladder if matches were decided by inside 50s count. By thats not what decides games, marks inside 50 do. Pretty obvious we need to change the players kicking it in there, the players up there, or probably both. Chaplin has the reins, and does pretty much exactly the same thing as Goodwin?!?! 'm sorry but he needs to go also. The whole coaching panel needs a rebuild

Sack the assistants and bring in new assistant coaches!

His fumbles, dropped marks and turn over kicks were like a comedy show

And we've got another year of him to enjoy!

It’s sad how far we have fallen as a club, on and off the field as well as supporter attendance ,although that was never a strong point we did have a chance to build something after 21

As bored as I've ever been at the footy.

There would not have been 5000 Dees fans at the G. Far wiser than me.

I felt the game went quick. It was just going through the motions really

I love this club and have not given up on next year, or the years after that. It’s always next year, right? I’ll be a 22 year member next year.

BUT - that does not excuse today’s performance and the continual, we turn up, we don’t turn up stuff.

It’s infuriating to never know which team will turn up. Good clubs have a brand and you know what you’ll get when you go to a game.

Anyway, go Dees, but a big nope for what was dished up today.

I’m a huge fan of Max, and especially today he was a class above everybody else.

The only problem is that I don’t think he should be getting 17 kicks and 10 handballs. Probably should be the other way around if the running players are awake and have a plan to run past for the handball.

The opening goal gifted to the hawks was a disgrace. All the players said it was touched. But no camera angle

Fix this miss you morons at the AFL

What do you mean, they showed vision of Rivers’ fingers bending back as he touched it?

The ARC is another bl-ody AFL joke.

Everyone saw it and knew it, except the [censored] in the ARC.

Leave me alone.

Can you two keep it civil

Take cents on the dollar for Petracca and Clarry and just find a way to trade them. Then we can start the mini rebuild.

Junk game best forgotten as quickly as possible.

Specific disappointment with Pickett. Ten disposals, one goal, not looking very interested.

Hopefully hitting the '20 disposals and 2 goals per game' mark for the first time of any player in 15 seasons will perk him up a little next week.

He'd need 25 disposals and 2 goals to get there.

Let's see what is left of Collingwood to bite into.

We had more inside 50s. Crazy

That's the way the modern game is played. Suck the other team into their 40 metre zone and then rebound through the corridor to an open forward line.

We have been predictable for so long and Goodwin's failure to change has resulted in an ageing team incapable of change

Well, I’m really looking forward to our AFLW game which commences shortly.

I think that's a bit unfair on Chaplin. How much change do expect him to effect on the team in 3 weeks. The forward 50 disconnect has been symptomatic for 4 seasons at least.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
