i would drop sprarrow. his handballing to team mates shoelaces drives me nuts

not sure who comes in for him

May in for someone ... Adams presumably (even though that's a bit harsh)?

Not sure who for Windsor unless it's Woewodin or Brown, and Billings has been pretty consistent at Casey.

Cupboard is always bare at this time of year.

Adam’s would be pretty stiff to be dropped after a reasonable debut.

K Brown for Windsor?

Mentioned maybe but for whom?

May for Adams would normally make sense. But with only two games to go, you could make a case for giving the youngster some more AFL experience and letting May's battered body have a good rest before the next pre-season .

Brown or Woewodin for Windsor? Either change will probably weaken the team. Not much use promoting Billings, who does not seem to feature in any long-term plans.

As for the rest, everyone in today's team (with the possible exception of Sparrow) did enough to keep their place.

May for Adams

Kolt for Windsor

Howes back, Bowey forward, Sparrow sub.

It’s not harsh to drop Adams. He’s not ready. You can tell at Casey he’s not ready. He loses concentration and doesn’t seek out the ball. It’s good he got a taste and there were some flashes but he has to take that back to vfl and dominate.

I think Kolts going to be a good solid player but wouldnt reward him yet.

Windsor out.

We only need replace the sub.

Handballing ???

What about petracca, Oliver, gawn ???

OUT: windsor, adams, sparrow
IN: may, tholstrup, woey 2.0

there's honestly not much at vfl level pushing for a call-up, despite their game being a ripper contest and great win

Need a runner in tho. Can’t have May for Windsor.

We could leave Sparrow in the starting 22, or drop him entirely but I think sub is a fair compromise. I don’t want to disrupt Casey too much either, those guys are having a good crack at finals.

Lindsay in not Kolt is an option too, but I’d like to see Kolt play a little defensive mid.

Petty, he’s a wet noodle.

You missed Viney. The Shah of shoelaces

It would seem a bit unfair to drop Adams after he was given the impossible task of guarding Naughton who's in the form of his life, but I can't imagine we'll be leaving May on the sidelines.

I imagine Windsor will miss the remainder of the season. Lindsay seems the most logical replacement but Kolt has also had a good block of VFL form. I can't see any of Woey 2.0, Laurie or Brown getting a look in anytime soon.

Sparrow?

Might be an unpopular opinion but as much as I'd love to see Kentfield or Brown get a go next week, Casey kinda has more to play for at this point. With two dead rubber games to go for the seniors, why bother messing with a team that needs the momentum going into finals? Is it worth a call-up for 1 or 2 games? Maybe? Maybe not.

Calling for this 6 weeks ago but better late than never.

IN: Kentfield, May, Lindsay

Out: van Rooyen, Adams, Windsor

Very likely. All things considered the likely option.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
