Any one of Hinkley, Simpson or Buckley sends shivers up the spine in the worst way. If we are going a ‘recycled’ coach. It’s Longmire or no one. Surely?

Skipworth has an eery Mark Neeld factor about him.

Any of the players from the Geelong (Corey Enright, Steven King, Joel Corey), Hawthorn (David Hale) or Richmond (Shaun Grigg) dynasties would be brilliant choices and have weight to bring good football people in with them if we go down the first time coach path.

I'm not driving through 18 pages, so not sure if this has been shared. but this was a great little interview with Paul Roos. Gotta love him.

Buckley clearly has the desire for it, but I'm unsure if Longmire does. Buckley became a coach young, and appears to have grown a lot since. His analysis and commentary on the game is the best in the business. He gets the modern game and has a great football mind.

Longmire has a better coaching career, winning a premiership and making four other grand finals. He'd be number one choice if we want an experienced coach to set standards, followed by Buckley. For whatever reason, I don't rate Simpson as highly as though two.

If we want an up and coming assistant, Corey Enright and Ash Hansen are the ones I've heard are rated extremely highly and are defined to be senior coaches. Obviously we'd go through a selection process, but I'd hope those two were part of that and strong contenders.

I'm unsure what the right path is, but with how rudderless our club is from a leadership perspective, an experienced coach might be required. Whoever it is, they have a decent playing list to build on, and we could bounce quickly in the next two seasons, even if we lose a few senior core players and go the youth path.

Either Buckley was not a good coach or he had completely wrong list for the style of play he wanted to implement. Either way, he had a pretty young premiership list that didn't perform except for 1 year.

Interestingly in the four rounds before West Coast we were first in the league for % of marks for kicks inside 50.

Buckley's footy brain and tactical analysis is frankly some of the best and most detailed I've seen in recent years.

Suggesting Buckley and Hinkley are in the same bracket of tried coaches who never made it is a stretch.

...but until I hear it from Tom Morris I won't believe it.

Was seriously good fun supporting Bolton when he was the Gaffer, the Eufa game vs Bayern Munich was so good.

I would have Roos and PJ as consultants.

I’d expect a combination of Buckley/Longmire, and Bruce/Enright.

I would hope it wouldn’t be a long drawn out process.

I wouldn’t be against a handover process with the above coaches.

As a Blackburn Rovers fan, I am still distraught he was sacked by Venky's.

Just because a coach didn't win a premiership at another club does mean that person cannot win a flag elsewhere. We need a coach that is not going to put up with [censored] from anyone. The coach needs to select his own assistants. I am hoping we get one of the Buckley or Longmire or Hird (forget about past mishaps).

If one of the reasons we sacked Goodwin was because he was a poor communicator I don’t think Horse or Simmo are either that strong in that area.

Buckley’s time in the media and even before as senior coach has shown he can effectively communicate what he’s doing and why. Something we all struggled with under Goodwin.

My list of possible new Melbourne Demons coaches from top priority to the least....

1) John Longmire - A Premiership coach and 4 grand finals - Is the man we want....but will he WANT to coach again?

2) Adam Simpson - A Premiership coach and 1 grand final - Is he the 2nd best option?

3) Nathan Buckley - I thought he wanted to coach Tasmania? But I understand he still has a burning desire to win a Premiership and has unfinished business.

4) Ken Hinkley - Too old? Perhaps better as the Football Department Manager or as a Senior Assistant Coach?

5) Justin Leppitsch - Has done excellent work since his failed attempt at Brisbane where he has been at both Richmond and Collingwood.

6) Another new coach? Cameron Bruce? Brett Montgomery? Adrian Hickmott? Chris Newman?

7) James Hird - Probably not!
